      To be fair this war has been a big strategic disaster for Russia both in the Black Sea as in the Baltic Sea. The blackmail of Europe with Russian gas also failed. I think it is reasonable to assume Russia will collapse in the near future. Just look at that Wagner mutany. A bit of land grab in de Donbass is not going to change that. It is the last thing Europe wants of course because that could even be worse than the Putin regime. That is why Ukraine is not really getting what it needs to defeat Russia while it would be easy to defeat russia at the moment.

      Firstly, not all in the military are in combat roles. Secondly, there are usually at least 3x more wounded than killed in action. There are also PoWs held in Russian camps. And rotation or R&R is required too.
      That said, 30,000 KIA sounds too low for a war that has been going on for two years.

    The US has now spent 19.2% of its 2023 Defense Budget on Ukraine. The Total spent to date including the EU should be somewhere north of USD 280 billion and Russia is still conquering territory. It seems there is a lot of spending needed in Ukraine. May be another package of 400 billion should be sent to Ukraine and see if it may make a difference. All of this in the name of NATO expansion?

      If you add all the European countries togethere they have already spent much more than the USA on support for Ukraine. Also the US has mostly sent weapons which were about to come to end of service life and vast majority of US funds then spent on buying new and better weapons for US forces.
