- After last week's imbalanced match-up between the LIRR M7 and BR Class 101 this week we have 4 Class 377s going full pelt down the Electrothrust Super Speedway and rest home. Featuring Mike the Teaboy and RUclips train superhero GrandT ( / grandt ) in an exciting sprint to the finish.
This is raced in Train Sim World 2. I happen to work on Train Sim World 2 so ignore anything that sounds like a review. Not that anything will because I don't do reviews, but if I did, you should ignore them anyway. Because reasons.

Learned a few things today. Finding fancy outside camera views costs you dearly, and that you can floor it for the entire sprint!

Yeah, you really need a track where you can roll the train, so you will be forced to slow down. Then braking and acceleration become the bits that help you choo-choo-choose your engine and the skill of the engineer plays a bigger role...

Mike the teaboy was the clear winner here. Not only was he able to make a comeback worthy of Lazarus, he also managed to provide a trolley buffet service for his customers.
This is reminding me a lot of a PS2 game called Extreme Express, which was also a train/locomotive based racing game.

Ruing my (ToastKing) decision not to walk the course beforehand but just go straight for it. Gave the tight bend into the tunnel too much respect (And the 377 too little). Glad I hit all of the whistles as I wasn't sure I got them all. Was too busy looking at houses most of the time, apparently. :)
This would be cool to see done in Train Simulator with loaded steam locos, I think Somerset and Dorset would be a good racetrack, maybe add in a shortage of fuel and required stopping to make things a little more interesting?
This is brilliant but it is just 100% throttle the whole way, unless there is a bit of physics weirdness going down, and there isn't even any slowing down action at the end to test the driver's braking skills.

This new series may just be my new favourite one on the channel. Racing trains? BRILLIANT :)
Mind you, the new Transport Fever 2 series is also quite good. But this is so much fun to watch!

I'd love to see Dovetail make some dedicated racing routes, with proper grandstands in the scenery and difficult curves that you would need to slow down a bit for (but still risk going through at far higher than normal speeds). Add an online scoreboard feature for good measure.
I think if there was a v2.0 you should make them have to stop the train at the end to avoid coming off the rails when you hit the buffers.
And every yard short (or long) of the end marker is another fault...

I just had a vision, real steam and electric trains drag racing somewhere near Bolivian train yard.
This is the fastest I've ever seen trains run on the Isle of Wight.

Very dramatic intro there colonel, You should apply to commontate on the next F1 race season or even the next general election now that would be worth listening to, Radio would be fine but you can sod off with the local tv [sound only please] dont want the punters to burst into tears when your in full swing.
