My Granded did his National Service in the RAF as ground crew in the early fifities. They had a Mosquito at the field and everyone hated getting the Mosssie's engines going. For all your efforts priming it and starting it you get choked by a cloud of soot and fumes. They had a party when their last one got crash landed and written off.
I've kept away from the prop planes as a few other titles cover them well enough, but I might make an exception in this case. This aircraft is legendary.

Why does ED insist on smattering it’s content, across several RUclips channels? This stuff should all be on the main ED channel. I get it may technically be personal content, but surely allowing ED to use it, would be better for the community.
The P-61 was a late war fighter, and not a very good one at that, and being a dedicated night fighter, might struggle to find content for it in DCS. Not that I'm saying it wouldn't be cool to see, but I hope we would see the P-38 and maybe the ME110 before they even thought about the P-61.

I have to assume it's from the early A models that were plagued with issues, like the low pressure tolerance on the radar operators canopy. But that was sorted out before the B models ever even rolled out. Considering in both theaters it existed in a target deficient environment, it performed pretty well against aerial targets and also as a ground support aircraft. Not only that, but aside from one (highly biased) British account of the plane not performing well compared to the Mossy, it was loved by the crews that flew it. There is even an eyewitness account (here on RUclips) of a P-61 out turning, and out rolling a P-38. In one study conducted by the USAAF at the time they found the P-61 to have a better rate of climb and a tighter turn. In a friendly competition between a P-61 from 422nd and an RAF Mosquito, the P-61 was faster, could out turn the Mossy, and had a better rate of climb. It could roll into a dead engine, unlike most other twin engine aircraft at the time, which would almost certainly crash if they attempted to do so, including the P-38. I don't mean to disparage these other planes, but the idea the P-61 wasn't a good fighter just isn't born out by the majority of historical accounts of the aircraft. It simply seems to be a false conclusion drawn by its relative small impact on the war, but that's because by the time it rolled off the line, the air war was basically won in both theaters. And yet it still managed to accumulate several notable achievements, such as shooting down V1 buzz bombs. As for struggling to find content, if the Mossy can work, so can the P-61. I agree though that it should not be the next thing added, but I never said it should be.
@@blitz8425 OK, good to know. Ive read multiple reports from a whole heap of sources, that originally, its was seriously flawed. As you said, the A variant was abysmal, slow, underpowered and subject to a lot of issues (like the rear gunners windows blowing out if you opened the cockpit windows), and deemed by the RAF to be unsuitable for the European theatre, and it took 3 variants until they really got it purring properly, ie the C variant. As for the "duel" between the P-61, and the Mossie, the P-61 was HEAVILY 'tweaked', with well tuned engines etc, in order to beat the mosquito, it wasnt a standard 'stock' P-61 Sadly though, by which time, the war was almost over by the time the C variant was widely in service. Its post war service was pretty short, being replaced by the twin mustang, and retired from active service by 1948, and the last flew in 1954... Yeah I guess, I should have put it just had a rather short lived, and uneventful career, really arriving too late in WW2, and suffering the same fate as a lot of prop aircraft post ww2.
I know it'd be a hell of a lot of work, but I think what would really complete the WWII aeroplane anthology, would be a B-17G Flying Fortress, with a number of positions mannable, such as pilot, bomber/navigator, ball gunner, tailgunner, both waistgunner positions and the top gunner/radioman. I know this would be a HUGE amount of work to code, but a guy can dream :P I mean fancy rolling up to the runway in a fully loaded B-17G for a simulated daylight bombing run on Hamburg or Bremen, having to deal with the dense Flak in the air and more. For a full Multiplayer experience, you could combine it with the P-51D Mustang module as escort fighters and the Bf-109K and Fw-190D module as opposing fighters for a multiplayer experience. (Not even sure the game can support such efforts, but again, a guy can dream :P)
The problem I see with the big bombers is that they are slow lumbering beasts that fly straight and level for hours and hours. Not exactly thrilling stuff.

I mean, if you deck out a full sim flight of a bombing run on say Bremen, the main excitement is taking off, getting to the staging area and taking your place in the group formation, after that it's level flying. But that's sort of why I'd love for the gunner positions to be open as well. So that during the flight, when fighters are reported to attack the formation, you can man the guns. Also, think of setting up the bombsight for the bombing run (yes, I've watched a lot of Memphis Belle :P) and dropping the bombs once (you think) they're on target. I think that would add a lot of excitement to the module as a whole, and also enhance the immersion. I'd love for that module to be attractive to anyone, but as with everything on DCS, the simulator crowd will probably get a bigger kick out of it.
I would think the P-38 would be the obvious next multi-engine WWII aircraft choice, and likely sell a lot more than either the Ju88 or the Bf110. Of German stuffm maybe the Me262 would sell like the P-38.
I'd love to see a Me-410B actually, as it probably would be more able to compete against the already available planeset. But it could be hard getting all the data needed on that one, it probably will even be hard to do a 110G (it was already for Maddox Games in the past). P-38 will sure come one day and I'd highly appreciate getting it. 262 already was part of the initial Kickstarter and has been worked on by ED, but they paused work on it to gather more data a while back.

It is significantly outperformed by the Mossie and Lightning in other aspects. Heck, the Beaufighter is probably better than the Me410.

Nice tutorial. Sometimes the left mouse button activates the item. Sometimes the right mouse button activates the item. Is there a logic here for which mouse button should be used for activating an item or is it just random?
Most times, DCS standard is: RMB = activate, increase, up, right LMB = deactivate, decrease, down, left Might differ in some cases either by accident, not following the standards or on purpose (like with the boost and start buttons so you can hold one while pressing the other)
I can't wrap my head around that cockpit layout, it's like they wanted to make it a single seat but were told to add a second seat halfway through so they just shoved it in wherever it would fit.
It's not a copilot, its a bombardier/navigator. The bombadier would lay on the right to get to the nose come bombing time in the bomber variants, with a side by side the seats would be in the way.

Nobody is going to remember the key combination for parking brake, etc from this particular movie. If you try to attract dumb people to be your customers... DCS recently changed to the Widows 10 operating system only. Will the Mossie be usable in Windows 7?

Question: Since the fuel pump switch must be set to OFF prior to engine start... when should we set it on?
Same as the Spitfire (same engines) : switch it on after taxi, right before take-off and keep it on until right after landing. As far as I know.

Depends which way the switch goes. If it has more than one direction, both mouse buttons are used.

I can't wrap my head around that cockpit layout, it's like they wanted to make it a single seat but were told to add a second seat halfway through so they just shoved it in wherever it would fit.
Sure looks like that, but I guess it's further back since they had to put the entrance somewhere.
It's not a copilot, its a bombardier/navigator. The bombadier would lay on the right to get to the nose come bombing time in the bomber variants, with a side by side the seats would be in the way.

That info didn't get through to me yet. Hope it never will, I exclusively fly DCS in VR, ever since 2018.
I have a gtx 1080 ti- i7 4700 and run very well in VR.
