Well Benny if my opinion is worth anything, That was a 1 owner car. Probably garaged most of its. Life.. Than Someone's mother or grandmother died and no one in the family had too much interest and there you have it. Hope someone will save it. Appreciate you making us the video.
That is a beautiful interior boss. I could stretch out nicely in that car. Thank you for calling them hide-away headlights. That's what we always called them back in the day, but I notice other youtubers struggling to find a name for them now, haha. Cheers, Logan, British Columbia.
Wow, look at that old road liner. Nice to see you back Benny, my old neighbor had a two-door version of that car, same color too, it was nice when they first got it then in about a year they ran it to the ground. That was back in the mid 90's. 😀
Yeah it's definately worth saving and making a daily driver, these mid-late 70's cars are getting more and more popular to do just that, your seeing more and more of them back on the road out here in the Southwest.
HI BENNY ,, GLAD TO SEE YA BACK .. YOUR ON VAC??? AWSOME CAR,, MY SON MAX AND I LIKE THE COLOR OUTSIDE YA INSIDE TOO!! LOOKS CLEAN.. LIKING THOSE FLIP LIGHTS ,BUT THEY HAVE BEEN CLOSE FOR A LONG TIME DIRTY .. THANKS BEN..
benny and the jets that car is in great shape somebody needs to buy that my dad had a brand new 73 Mercury marquis it was his last car before he pasted away. My sister got it with only 9,000 on in 1983 she sold it to a friend of hers she should have asked me first I would have bought it back.
In 1978, body code 53H is a base four door Marquis. Body code 66H is four door Grand Marquis and 66K is a four door Marquis Brougham. This is body code 53H.
Whoa Nelley, it's a 1978, but it never was great. We haven't seen you in a while, was starting to wonder.... We got the VIN, we win: 8 for 1978 model year, Z for St. Louis, MO (Hazelwood) assembly, 62 for Mercury Marquis 4 door, S for 400 V8 with two-barrel, aka "Sloppy and Floppy" and the rest is the production sequence. The Hazelwood, MO plant operated from 1948 to 2006 and was razed by 2009. The 400 V8 was a sloppy, slow, clunky emission laden problematic engine. The FMX transmission was also another heap. It was a junky, clunky sloppy shifting transmission that could never hold a candle to a GM Turbo Hydramatic. Hope you grabbed that socket. I recently bought a small tool lot from a guy selling tools at a "garage sale" under an expressway overpass. For $32 I got some Craftsman, SK, and other USA made tools, including two big S-K wrenches and needle nose pliers. I was actually coming back from the free weekend event at HF where I picked up a free pick set with the coupon. We got the tag, we can brag: 62 for Antique Cream lower exterior paint, DT for full brown vinyl roof, 22 for Dallas, TX sales district, 53H for Marquis four door sedan, LZ for brown/tan cloth interior trim, 16A for Monday January 16, 1978 production, B for 2.47:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking, X for FMX automatic transmission and A for factory equipped air conditioning. That's a $1500 car at best. It's got some rust poking through; it's got the slow 400 V8 and it would need some work to be a runner. You didn't mention if it had a title issue or not. Hard pass for me. Whoa Nelley, nobody wants the 'Biz (Marquis) and this one is the color of whiz. That's it, time to quit. 400 and gotta go. Made in Hazelwood and it ain't no good. VIN code S is a big mess. FMX needs a complete check. Motorcraft needs a life raft. "Living in the Limelight, the universal dream...." (Rush/Limelight/1981) and this one is painted code 62 Antique Cream. Maybe going to be flat and that would be that. Possibly going to get squished and surely the FOMOCO faithful, I'm sure Benny, but you guessed it, nah, not the Google Man would be remotely pissed.
I use some odd channels to fall asleep as well. thereportoftheweek is one such channel. his old stuff mainly not his food reviews. right now ive been into listening to the audio book "1984" for some reason
@@ClassicRideSociety I need nothing usually to go to sleep. I'll start to watch a podcast or YT video and bang I'm out in a minute. But generally, I put my head on the pillow and I'm out. I was away in Wisconsin for work and we were on the road at 4 AM for a 6 AM flight. By the time I got to my hotel room, I had to take a nap before going to the pool for exercise. One night later I did the same thing, but wound up skipping swimming because I was beat. Didn't get home until 1:30 AM Saturday morning.
I used to own one. Had the 351-M 400 engine. The engine was junk, so I found a 1972 Mercury Montigo and it had a good running 400. After the engine swap, it was a nice driving car 🚗.
Very good car. If it can be driven out of there the pricetag is ok. I wouldnt even change or touch the paint. But I would change that vinyl and put white colour on its place.
Ah I see the diesel ford that was sitting next to it is gone now. Went down there last Saturday to look at that RX-8 they were trying to sell.. passed on it and bought the engine out of the yellow one they had in the yard. That is actually a pretty clean old Merc
They just put out a 73 maverick as well. Not too bad either. It had a Edelbrock performer 289 just resting on the the engine. Had some cool Appliance mag wheels. The ones that look like Cragars. I passed on them because im not into 14 inch rims.
@@googleusergp Then got drastically worse, w/the Marqui and what they thought would pass for an "LTD"... 😂 They got smaller and just..interior designs and places for switches..😵💫🫨😕 anyways, those ',80's Fords and Mercs, sucked..😢
@@ClassicRideSociety I think it's around $3.65 here. I don't commute five days a week any longer, so it lessens the fuel I use. I walk everywhere I can instead of driving.
I dont understand why so much???? Its not a super saut after car and its way to much if a gas killer for today..... It is absolutely beautiful and i totally would but it but definitely not fir that price...... And its a four door.
Yes, this car needs saved! I owned a 1971 Marquis and a 1991. These cars glide down the road and you never feel the speed. Comfortable ride!
Never pass a gas station either.

its just been bone dry lately here in the junkyards
If that car winds up in the yard that would be sad. All you need is the keys and drive her home
We used to buy those cars for a couple 100 bucks in the late eighties.
Looks pretty darn good for a 78. Still make a great cruiser, thanks Benny.

that car has a lot of life left in it. If I did not have twelve cars already I would buy it.

$2495 is an ok price for it. It's not a Grand Marquis. it's either base or maybe a Brougham. Those seats are cool 70's.
