Best thing about Hololive. Someone actually said, "Maybe this is why Hololive is doing better than all the competition" and showed a bunch of VShoujo talents tweeting about Roe v. Wade being overturned, contrasted with Mumei and Gura and people tweeting about what games they would be streaming.
Did it not occur to VShoujo that maybe people upset about Roe might want to, you know, watch a silly Vtuber stream and distract themselves, unwind and escape? Instead of having even their "weird girl we watch play games while she chitchats behind an anime avatar" remind them about their political setbacks?
Since I want to go into voice acting, I try not to post anything political. I don’t want politics to be part of my brand or image when it seems like not everyone has the right answer to every problem going on in the world. I think the only time I’ve ever been political was when I got upset at a politician for wanting to ban anime because they believed that anime is a cause for pedophilia.

My understanding is that when she made her initial comment, she was unaware that a bystander actually died at the rally, hence her later "educated myself" comment. When the news of what had happened at the rally initially broke, a lot of the news headlines only mentioned that Trump had a near brush with death, so a number of people who made jokes about what had happened were unaware of the bystander's death when they made said jokes.
Given the replies anyone can tell that it wasnt really a joke. Theres a reason there is proverb "speech is silver, silence is golden". You can think whatever you want. But you should be carefull to whom and where you say it and otherwise remain silent. Somehow thats a foreign concept to some.

Remember, people lost their careers for relatively mundane tweets made 14-16 years ago.
With some exceptions, Vtubers are at their best when they remain entertainers first and foremost. Politically Agnostic and expected to understand the very basics of reason and rationale. Trickywi is a particular dissapointment here because her words literally read like an itemized confession of "I'm sorry i got caught."
Essentially when it comes to entertainers, whose entire careers depend on the audiences they draw, they have got to avoid making serious gaffes like this. You're right, Tricky is only sorry she got caught. There's a reason the phrase "shut up and dance" is a favorite turn of phrase. They are here to entertain us, not prognosticate on politics. If they can't keep to entertainment, then they should not try and be entertaining.
Unless you are running a political channel never talk about it on your work account. If you wanna discuss on your private or with friends and family go wild.
This should be the thing for all actors, voice actors, youtubers, that aren't political youtubers that is, and Vtubers. They're supposed to be like jesters, and we, the audience, the nobles. They are there for our amusement and that's it, that is their role with their professions.
Their takes on anything political is not important, and they should keep it to themselves and their close friends and family, because most are far too ignorant and will make themselves look like the fools they play if they try to speak on important matters. Or in cases like this, just hateful, vile people who are far too emotional, either way, it will hurt their image.

Insulting the customers rarely go well at a store and while limiting who you sell to might work if you sell really expensive wares, it does not work on social media since you need as large audience as possible if you want to earn money.
So yeah, being political as an entertainer is rarely a good idea, it limits your audience. The further you go left or right the worse it gets since even moderates wont like what you are saying then.

My advice is to always focus on your local seats and who are your representatives.
If your Rep is just another Jack Thompson and your Dem is just another Anita Sarkisian, you need to make sure BOTH never get into your local seats of power, much less the Senate.

I’m more familiar with TrickyWi as a content creator who used to go by “TrickyWolfyx” and made nice song covers of iconic Sonic songs and eventually making a new channel where she would compose original songs on popular franchises like Five Nights at Freddy’s and Pokémon later on (Pokémon especially), donning a Slyveon avatar/OC before she became a VTuber. I haven’t really followed her VTuber career but this whole situation involving her has disappointed me and made me lose respect for her.

I remember reading on one of the therapy channels I follow that "A joke is when everyone laughs, including the person who the joke is about, abuse is when people laugh at you/someone, and that person who the joke is about doesn't appreciate it."
Yeah that's usually how it goes, I've done this myself but I really meant whatever it was as a light hearted joke, and if I UPSET someone I would apologize, but these people aren't sorry for hurting others...

There are too many people in the world that are not at the stage where they can think so far ahead of what they've been told. There are levels to mindfullness and the majority of these people are at level 2. you have to be at least level 4 to think about both sides, level 3 is where you question your own ideas.

I don't have X, so my response here: I'M against cancel culture, yeah, and I DO champion free speech. If Trickywi wanted to tweet that she has a right to. It WAS in VERY BAD taste. Don't get your panties in a wad over Trickywi deleting her comment after being called out. Others have just as much right to call out what they don't believe to be in good taste. No one made her delete the tweet. She did so in an attempt to save face. Whether or not it works is yet to be seen, but there was no canceling.
I like the way she made her friends facepalm in embarrassment and disbelief. More than likely they feel the same way as her towards Trump, but at least they kept their opinions to themselves to not hurt their fans. Unfortunately she will probably maintain her subscriber count, but now people know she hates people like us.
