- This is a video on how to make a cup of coffee with the Krups espresso mini 963. Details on boiler container, steam release knob, steam nozzle with froth attachment, filter holder, filter basket
i just got this at a thrift store with no directions so thanks for the great demo! its very nice for $10.
Yes for $10 you got a steal, I hope it makes many great cups of coffee for you.
I picked one of these up at Goodwill for $17 a couple months ago in like-new condition. It's been fantastic. Makes perfect espresso every time with quick, easy cleanup. Poured over ice, it makes a Cafe Americano much better than I'd usually spend a fortune on at Starbucks. An awesome investment.
Right, you got a great deal for $17, and I am sure it has alot of life left in it for many cups of espresso. I used to buy coffee at the gas station once in a while when it was $1, but now that has doubled, and I make my own, and it taste better and fresher.
$17 is ridiculous pricing at goodwill, you must be in a large metropolitan area. At my goodwill in Arkansas I paid $4 for mine
I got one for 5 bucks but the water tank is very dirty it's scaled and looks almost like sand was in it what can I do to clean it out I used de scaling fluid and vinegar
Ohmygosh, that Starbucks scam. I just learned that they use a lot of hypnosis marketing. Which also includes Magic. Aka the siren
There's a documentory on it on youtube. Which draws people in really under false pretences. But not me I like to make my own good coffee. Great little machine.
I paid 25 surprise az goodwill
Just picked one of these up at an estate sale. Thanks for the vid! Very fun and informative!
Yes an old school espresso mini, I was glad you were able to pick one up at an estate sale, and then make some good coffee with it. You should also try a French Press, they make good coffee too.
Bout a week ago, I got myself a similar model, really informative instructions and calming voiceover.
Thank you for compliment of my video, and I am happy you also now have a coffee machine to make good coffee.
I found one of these yesterday in my mom's garage as I was sorting through things to sell, and brought it home. I think my stepdad must have used it in his office years ago. It's horribly caked with mineral deposits in the water tank, so I'm letting some vinegar sit in the tank, then I'll rinse it out and try running water through it. Thank you for the instructive--and fun!--video, Paul! Wish me well, that this little coffee maker works!
Update (I know, no one cares!): it works great! I used a lot of water and vinegar to get it cleaned out , especially the steam arm for the frother. I followed your instructions for brewing, right down to the proper tap on the top after screwing on the tank lid 😉. I’m missing the important part of the Kroger garlic tin but the little machine works well and is fun to use. Yummy coffee!
We coffee drinkers care! We are a community! Its good to document what you have done for posterity, it will help others with similar issues. Yes the Kroger Garlic tin is just the perfect size to hold my cup close to the frother. Like Homer Simpson once said, "Coffee Good".
Usefull video! I buy a same (used) machine (ABC espresso capuccino) and i had no any guide booklet to make my first coffee! Until i found this video! Thank u so much!
I am glad that you bought a used Krups espresso machine, and that this video will be your guide to making good coffee. Cheers
Thank you! How delightful and relaxing! I also bought mine at a thrift shop, for $6.99!! Now I can use it!
truly inspiring. this video touched me in ways i did not expect. i hope you enjoyed your coffee!
Well thank you for the deep comment. Coffee is a mysterious drink, and can move people into various emotions, like joy, anticipation, and sharing. I did enjoy this cup of coffee, and as your drink your next cup keep reaching for the stars.
Solid vid brother. Just got one of these from goodwill. Looking forward to making a cup.
Glad you like my video, and you called it "solid" which means very good. Glad you were able to pic up a coffee maker from the goodwill. I also got a "french press" and that method also makes good coffee.
Hell yeah
My 97 year old neighbor just gifted me this. Yep, after this video, I'm extremely confident in my ability to make a decent cup of espresso in the morning.
Yes its a great machine, and makes a great tasting cup of coffee. Thanks for the comment.
So I see a lot of us here after purchasing second hand left with no instruction booklet! 😂 I got mine at the thrift store for $7.50 😊
Yes that is a good deal, now you get a nice cup of coffee too.
I already have the same container of garlic you're using, so I'm all set once I get the espresso machine.
Yes that Kroger Garlic Powder is real good on steaks, chicken and fish. Well this particular Espresso Machine you might only be able buy on ebay because its from the 1980's!!! LOL Of course I think they have more updated models of 963.
Thank You. Followed your instructions and my coffee came out perfect.
I am very thankful you coffee came out good, did you add cream and sugar? Or do you like it "as is"?
@@paulc1562 Just a little cream. Don't need sugar. I am sweet enough - lol.
Love the garlic tin stand, genius!. Might be better with cinnamon, lol. We pulled ours out of the cupboard after a lot of years. Will give it a go.
Yes the Kroger Garlic Tin is the perfect size for my coffee cup to get a good froth without holding it up with my hand.
I love it..I’m learning, thanks a lot!!!! ☕️
I am so happy that you love the video, and hopefully you are loving your coffee too. I try to make the video informative and like to add humor too. Cheers.
I inherited one from previous owners of my home purchase. I literally had no idea how to use it. This helps a lot. However, kind of miss that part with I'm assuming milk. Is it boiling? Looks like they would have made it a little better so you wouldn't have to prop it up.
Well its actually called "frothing" the milk to make it foamy and smooth. I think the height is perfect, you can't make it too low otherwise the milk will spill when taking it out, otherwise you would have to raise the machine. So its a catch 22!!! LOL
These were the good old days
Yes the good old days before the new technology with the expensive Keurig cups. I either do it this way, or use a french press to relive the "good ole days"
I like how you used a fork to stir.💕💕💕
Philly girl with a good eye, and observation skills! Yep forks work too.
Got mine for $4 used. The upright 'antenna' part is missing from my froth maker, still makes froth though.
Wow I think $4 is the record, I seen a guy get one for $7.50, but we got a steal for $4. I hope your enjoying your coffee.
Thank you!!
AHHHH thanks for telling us it was the Heinz commercial!!!
Yes the good ole days of the 1970's. It was all over the TV back then. No cable, just CBS, NBC, ABC and PBS!! LOL
@@paulc1562 Yes,, Thee BEST DAYS
I bought this same exact model from goodwill. I went to use it after watching your video and everything was fine until I smelled the coffee. It smellled horrible, like burning metal. Any tips on what I’m doing wrong?
Maybe you should flush it out first with vinegar, somebody in the comment section said this. But without me being there live, I am not sure what is going on with the "burning metal" coffee smell. Actually I am not exactly sure what burning metal smells like, its it that electricity smell?
PLEASE tell me what kind of grind should I use?? The fine espresso grind is not working and it tastes terrible :/
Well you will have to experiment with the grind the amount, the amount of water, and the frothing of the cream or milk. I just use regular coffee like Folgers. So on the can its says 2 tablespoons of coffee for 6 ounces of water. I use a "French Press" the last couple years and I love it. I should make a video!! LOL
@@paulc1562 Yes, I think the machine is better with a ground for a regular coffee...
“ Anticipation “ Heinz ketchup commercial 😉 thx for the vid
Yep you got it right! You probably grew up in the 1970's and 1980's
Hi! Do you have to use the milk steamer or is that optional? I like mine iced
yes the milk steamer is optional, I also like iced coffee. For iced coffee I put water and coffee in a mason jar overnight in the refrigerator. Then the next day I pass it through my french press coffee maker.
Can you make a video on how to clean this machine how to clean the metal container on the inside to avoid rust please ?
Thank you
Well no need to make a video, but clean it out with vinegar every once and a while, and keep it dry inside. Thats my advice for the today. It may even be rust proof material, I am not sure.
@@paulc1562Yes it's cast aluminum so it won't rust.
Can you do a video on how to clean the inside with the descaling solution?
I had never used any descaling solution on the inside, just good ole soap and water and sometimes vinegar. Its hard to clean the frothing pipe, but I used a paper towel twisted into a small rope, and run it through a few times.
@@paulc1562 darn :( the one I got from an estate sale, the inside looks like it never was cleaned before. The inside was just clumps of hard white. Vinegar could only do so much :(
@@Badboyplants I just took a picture of my inside, with my cell phone on flash mode, and it looks like some kind of ceramic material, or pitty type of metal, but I too see some white pitted scaling. But I don't use mine too much anymore because I bought a French Press. Too bad I can't easily share the picture on youTube.
@@paulc1562 that’s okay, thanks anyways! The inside of mine looks like a cave or stalagmites 😂
@@Badboyplants OK, thanks for the description, it was not too hard to post a picture ( see below link ) I used my google drive. Take a look and let me know if its like your inside of your Krups coffee maker. Sounds like yours is a little worse.

ketsup Heinz?
probably 1970s one of the first ads with real hit music by an artist.
Yep you are correct, yes and I think the artist was Carly Simon. Fun facts
How do I adjust how much espresso I want? Like if I just want 2 shots and not 4?
Well just adjust how much coffee grounds you put in, and you will notice on the glass container there is markings for 2 and 4 shots of water. Then experiment to see what taste best for you, add more or less coffee grounds, and more of less water according to your taste preference.
Does anyone know how much water the "2" and "4" markings hold? Is it just 2 and 4 cups? Just got one of these todah ar the thrift store and its missing the carafe!
the 2 marking is 4 ounces, and the 4 marking is 8 ounces....I think it has more do to with 2 "cups" of espresso, which are usually only 2 ounces or so...
The filter basket lock has a min/max setting, does anybody know what is the purpose of this?
At one time I thought I had the MAX/MIN setting figured out, because it talks about it in the manual, but its kind of vague. That being said, I always set it on MAX for I figured maximum flavor!! LOL
Just bought one at the thrift store but my steamer doesn’t have that extra handle 😭
Well thankfully you don't need frothed cream for a good up of coffee, just add cream and sugar and your good to go. Frothed cream is a luxury, but its kind of over rated too, and its a lot of cleanup.
Rename this ASMR coffee making and you'll have a million views
Funny!! - and then after the video is done, the coffee will wake you back up. lol
@@paulc1562 2 very good comments.
How to clean it?
Every once in a while ( not every day ) you have to unscrew the frother and run hot water through it. Actually its real easy to clean the thing. The glass carafe, the metal filter and the frother thats all you need to clean.
That was way too much water! This will be very watered down….
Well I am making "regular" coffee, not espresso or cappuccino. If you look at most coffee ground cans or packages, it says 1 tablespoon of coffee per 6 ounces of water, so I am within standards. Tell us how you make your coffee, with what ratio. Now today I made "cold brew" in my French Press.
"Joe Pera Is A Parkour Pro
Does Joe Pera drink espresso coffee?
@@paulc1562 he is not telling anybody
What kind of expert could this be if he pronounces espresso as "expresso"?
An expert that likes his coffee "quick and good"!! Get it!!! LOL
You can call me "expert-so" ha, ha, ha That is what kind of expert I am.
this is not how it works whatso ever this is how to make burnt coffee omg ewww
LOL, oh no, no, no my friend, this is exactly how to make nice fresh coffee, with perfect "air infused" froth. Believe me I have tasted it and its not burnt. See timestamp 2:51 on how the air travels in from the stem to make its way into the cream for a frothy delight!!
You sound weird
or like JD Vance might say, "maybe your just projecting" ha, ha, ha
This video sucked from the moment the host mispronounced the word espresso.
Actually I am going to make another cup of "expresso" !! Because its going to be quick and good. LOL
I enjoy and learn. But what funny is for me that Mark stuck between espresso and expresso wild we enjoy our coffee.thanks Paul!
@marksobolik8943. Then why are you still here, moron!
5:59 That's so beautiful thank you. Really nice voice not shouting at it I appreciate that.
I just got one for $5 five dollar!!cdn I'm so lucky and I always cappuccino machine. Your vid came up 1st on youtube But have no clue how to use it thank you so much for sharing of your time 🦜🤭😅
That is nice that you like the last picture of the stirring of the coffee, with its beautiful head of foam. Wow $5 that is a steal of a deal. Hope you enjoy your coffee machine.
Does the machine run through all the water you put in it into the espresso? or does it run a set amount of water through? is it automatic or can you adjust how much water go into your espresso? and if yes, how?
Hi pretty blazedbaby, yes any amount of water you put it, the water will all be gone, either to make coffee, or steam. It works by pressure.
Hey by any chance can you make a google drive of the whole pamphlet and instructions? I can’t find them anywhere and my steam wand isn’t working. Thanks :)
Hi very pretty blazedbaby, come on you have to be better at google than that!!! I found it on my first try....Here is the link of the PDF manual.
