Guys! We got a Pellet grill/smoker.
So Ken is back with another video and this time we take a look at the Pit Boss Lexington 540 smoker.
No we are not sponsored by Pit Boss or anyone else. We just want to share out experiences, which so far have been pretty good with this smoker.
Wanted to say that we already went through the pre-season/burn-off procedure prior to this as per the manual. So we are ready to smoke some meat!
This is the first pellet smoker that Roger or Ken has ever used. So they are learning as we film this.
That being said please take the time to share your tips and tricks in the comments below. They are always great and very helpful to not just us, but everyone who take the time to read them.
We chose chuck steak, chicken breast, and chicken leg quarters for our first cook.
Be sure to watch all the way to the end for lots of good info and to see how we did.
As always thanks for watching! Please Like, Share, Subscribe, and Follow!

Hey roger, can you make a video on how to properly gaff a fish while ice fishing? I’ve heard lots of things about the line getting caught on the gaff and I’m not sure the proper way to do it. Any info would be helpful. Awesome video!

that is a great idea!!!! ive had my share of mistakes in that area, but i have learned a few things. Mostly waiting til the fish is properly tired out. then you can get a good poke in the right place. I'll do that vid this winter. THANK YOU

salmon in LG are a pain!!!! some years the stocking works better and more survive to maturity. then the probability of success is way higher. last year was not a good year for salmon. the year before, however was better. they are using a new strain form Maine now that has a heigher survival rate, but the salmon get eaten by lakers pretty bad. anyway the things that work is light line and small hooks. 4lb florocarbon leader size 12 or even 14 hooks and perch minnows. often in shallow water. 4' to 20' near streams or blubber openings. back when they were more prevelant, we used to get them 4 feet under the ice all over NW bay. not so much lately. ive heard some action has been had off Rogers rock. not far from shore. 8fow over the rocks. and the last big one i had on was near the big boats by MDB. they hang out down there all fall it seams. but so do a lot of fisherman! I hope this helps. salmon have been a tough fish to target on LG. Scroon might be a better bet or Champlain noth of the bridge.

Roger where ya been, also looking into a new grill what is the cost of pellets vs propane

@Kenn Krizsanitz, Hey this is Ken. Roger has been crazy busy since the spring, hence why you have been seeing me for the past few months. But really good news. Roger should be making an appearance very soon. As for the pellets cost vs. propane, all I can say is that the pellets used here were $15 for the 40lb bag. I went through about .75lbs per hour. So I think it is more efficient than the propane, but I could be wrong. Propane is $22 for a 20lb tank right now. At the very worst they are comparable. Thanks for watching!

Hey Kenny, been looking at getting a pellet grill / smoker . This looks like a good one. I was actually looking at the Pjt Boss 840. But this one looks more than adequate. Thanks for the video. That meat looks amazing !

@Buck Tales Outdoors, you are welcome Don. Yeah they are well made too. I can also attest to the great customer service. They actually laugh with you (and not at you) when you accidentally turn the temp. knob to off and not smoke :-) Only took me 15 minutes to figure out my mistake, but they were very nice. The capacity is great for its size and here in the northeast where we are I think that the smaller design will end up benefitting us as we won't use as many pellets to keep the temp where we want it in cooler weather. I have some upgrade ideas as well for the unit, but thats another video :-). Thanks wor watching Don!

@@RogersRigs Good point on the smaller unit and pellet consumption Kenny, never thought about that. Looking forward to the next one.
