IN THIS VIDEO, I'm attempting to refinish my own childhood dresser. A lot of the finish issues and scratches are actually my own fault (haha) so it's kind of poetic that 20+ years later, I'm bringing this one back to beautiful.

Don’t worry about your posts being slow or boring. Your style of editing is like watching the piece come life. The process is fascinating.
Thanks so much for watching!
That you still have this piece from your youth is testament to your love of such treasures. The outcome is just unbelievable. Looking at the finish is like looking into the depth of time. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you so much Marilyn!
Gorgeous as always. I love your attention to preserving the history of the piece. And your finishes are always marvelous.
I loved watching the gentle care you took removing the old finish. It was very relaxing and soothing, almost hypnotic. How beautiful the wood looks now! I always enjoy your videos. You have a unique way of looking at the furniture, like you can see what each one was meant to be. I’m glad you’re feeling better and thank you for the rescue bunnies!🌸
As you were stripping the shellac you said how satisfying it was to see it removed. This whole video was so satisfying! This dresser is so beautiful. I love the way you chose to honor its history. 💕
Thank you very much!
To me, this is perhaps your most beautiful restoration. That grain, the clear presence of age, the tones--good job. Many happy returns.
Thank you so much for watching Emma!
I see so many dressers like this all over RUclips, and they are on the painting block….but this shows how beautiful they can be….color can always be brought in to a room….furniture doesn’t need to be painted!
Well, sometimes it doesn't need to be painted. Other times, as Angie has shown a number of times, it can. Depends on what it is made of and the damage it has accumulated.
I LOVE that you refinished a piece from your youth. What a transformation by just cleaning off the old finish.
Thanks so much! 😊
What you do with your projects is magic! I love your videos more than any other wood working channel and I've been a wood working enthusiast since The Woodwright's Shop on PBS in the 80's.
Wow, that is a massive compliment then! Thank you so much for watching!
You have excellent production skills. The camera work is first rate; every shot well framed, every bit of lighting spot on. Your voice is perfect for narration and the background music is never harsh; never invades the scene. Of course, your actual woodworking talent is first rate but many talented artists fail to articulate their craft this well. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for the kind words Trish - I really appreciate that!
I am so excited! I love your videos. I've tried to find similar style videos from other people but it's way too much ASMR for me. I'm so sorry you were injured and so happy you've bounced back! Thank you so much for all your work to keep furniture out of landfills and for the entertainment your content provides me on a daily basis. I just got so excited when I saw that your new video was coming out today! I may have squealed.
haha, aww thank you so much for the love and support, Ashley!
Yea! 100%! I missed this videos so much, I consumed every video on the channel already and was very excited to see new one❤️
I’m a HUGE Fan and Love this piece‼️
How do you know if it’s a shellac finish that you can remove with denatured alcohol?
Injured how? What happened?
@@designabeej I hurt my back. Turning sideways in a chair, of all things. Haha. I have one disc that likes to give me trouble every five years ago. Apparently I was due. Haha
Absolutely stunning! Thank you for restoring this piece rather than painting it, repurposing it, or trashing it. That wood is exquisite.
Thanks for watching!
Wow - the beautiful grain of the wood came though so well and without any staining!
Thank you so much for watching!! 😊
So much more beautiful than the original. You know what you're doing!
My word, that turned out beautiful! I just love that mocha-maple-chocolate tone to the wood. This seems like almost a conservation job more than restoration. Absolutely beautiful.
Wow, thank you so much!
Girl, you rock! I also still have my teenage years bedroom suite and I'm 75 years old and sleep in that bed every night. It's gone through one repaint and then a strip and varnish. Sadly, my work isn't as good as yours. I love the way you respected the dents and scratches, because, really, that's part of who you are. I just discovered your work about a week ago, and already I've learned so much from you. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks! I still buy bargain worn pieces and make them into something better than they were and I suspect they will last a lot longer than I will. I also love that you love animals so much. They are a delight, especially Nacho!
I'm so glad you found me!! Thank you so much for watching! 🙂
WOW! I love how it turned out. The grain is stunning.👏👏
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous! The little bunny bed is so cute
OMGosh! That dresser is amazing! You did such a lovely job on it. And thank you for the Skill-share promo. I did actually get a month free to try it out.
Oh that’s awesome! I’ve found so many great and unexpected classes that have helped me so much over the last few months.
Nice work! Glad you kept some of the character dings. Happy to see you feeling better.
Yea, she's back.
❤️
Absolutely beautiful as Always 👏🏻🫶🏻
Thank you very much!
Amazing the depth the finish gives. Beautiful work!
Not sure this dresser was ever this beautiful before! Your videos are never boring!
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Makes me appreciate your videos more. Great job, looks beautiful.
There is definitely a lot that goes on behind the scenes of most RUclips channels.. The furniture- that's the EASY part! haha
So pretty! What a lovely piece with memories.
I absolutely love your videos. So relaxing and then such satisfaction and amazement at the reveal!😊
That is so pretty and such a great heirloom piece of furniture.
It came out beautifully!! You can't even tell the drawer was tinted. Blends so well, and I agree with you about the finish. This is so much better.
Makes me smile to see how much this piece means to you personally. Also, because you are on the mend, and back refinishing.
Enjoyed this, as always! Love to the family!
Thank you so much for watching Kristi! I'm very happy to be back, I missed everyone. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, all the best to you and yours as well! ❤️
Beautiful result on the dresser and love your adorable four-legged family members! :)
Thank you so much! 😊
This is by far my favorite I have seen you refinish so far! It’s so unique and you really brought out the beauty of the piece!!! You are so talented!
Thank you very much!
Refreshing to see a beautiful piece of furniture not slathered in paint. Looks lovely.
Some pieces require paint, but I would never cover up this gorgeous woodgrain. Thanks for watching!
Spectacular result. Loving your work.
Thank you!
I have no words......stunning....wonderful to restored your childhood dresser....so beautiful😍.
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for sharing a piece of your childhood with us. This was such an awesome transformation and the story behind it made it really special. As always, it turned out absolutely incredible!
PS, I love seeing Nacho and the bunnies! It's always a treat to see them included.
Thank you so much for watching Nessa!! 😺🐰
Looks like a million bucks, Angie! 🙂🙃🥰
Gorgeous wood grain hiding under that finish. How satisfying to see life breathed back into the piece. ❤️
What a great tip about the tack cloth. I didn't know that. I have tons of old furniture that has the original hard loved finish. I was told to use mineral spirits because it doesn't raise the grain. That worked realky well on an old oak drop leaf table I have but I might try the denatured alcohol on another piece.
Thanks so much for watching!
Gold ⭐️ for you for keeping your childhood bureau and making it shine! Good decision to lose the casters. I think they just weaken the structure of those thin legs.
Enjoyed the bunny break too. 😍
Thanks for watching!! 🐰🐰
It just warms my heart to see this restored in its natural state, and not painted! The wood is beautiful. And the memories you have makes this a special piece
Thanks for watching!
I love the bunny intermissions...always makes me smile❤
I'm so glad! 😀
Not sure why I got goosebumps bumps except maybe it bc I still have my childhood dresser and I’m 58. Well done Angie. Absolutely beautiful ❤️
Thank you very much Jodi! ❤️
What a beautiful memento of your childhood. Great to see it brought back to it's former glory. The wood is gorgeous!!
Thank you very much! 😊
How fun 😊 I live how you honored the wood and your personal history in this piece... And yes, I did almost fall asleep lol
So glad I watched. A few of the pieces I’ve gathered so far also are muted by too much toner. It is nice that when I eventually get to refinishing them, I will see more beautiful wood grain. Beautiful work, as always. Thank you, Angie!
You're so welcome Amy! Thank you for watching!
Beautiful and sensitive restoration of a piece you have nostalgia about. You can see the love you applied! Your finishes and the celebration of that walnut made it PERFECT!❤ Love it!
Thank you so much!
Wow! Look at all that beautiful grain. It must be very satisfying to restore an old friend. And I just love your decision to keep the history intact by leaving the dings and dents. Don't ever sell it. It's a part of your life.
I have no plans to. 😁
This project turned out beautifully! The wood grain is stunning! I'm glad that you exposed it for all to see! Thank you!☺️
Thank you so much for watching!
It's beautiful!! And the bunnies have beautiful furniture, too 😂❤
Bunnies and their tendency to modify their furniture with their teeth!🐰😂 Thanks so much for watching!
Love seeing the transformation 🫶🏼
Thanks so much for watching!
Love it! Keeping the character is a wonderful idea. I have a wooden bar cart that needs a bit of TLC. My daughter dropped a container on it and it has a dent on the top - gonna keep it.
It is interesting how we look at things now as to when we were growing up with them. I have a white painted dresser that I've had for ages but cannot remember where it came from. The paint has been peeling off - thanks fish tank - and now I see it is solid wood. Dove tailed joints in the drawers and a nice simple design. Hope to get to it this summer with a scrapper!
Best of luck with the dresser when you start Valerie! Absolutely keep the dent - you'll always remember where it came from. ❤️ Thank you so much for watching!
I'm with you, Angie. I love the character and depth of the woodgrain. You did a great job keeping its unique qualities, dings and scratches.
Not only a beautiful dresser, but a beautiful kitty. Love those mitten paws!
Aren't his paws amazing?? All those beans! Thanks so much for watching and I'm so glad you like the piece. 😺
Another spectacular job. Love your finished product. Glad you're feeling better.
Thank you so much 😀
Oh and those old casters really do a number on any kind of floor.
Wow...gorgeous! Love your work. Can't wait to see more.
What a beautiful treasure you will have forever. Think those bunnies will never want to leave!!
Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love walnut and this piece is beautiful. I love the way your treatment has enhanced the wood rather than masking the variations in the grain. I appreciate how much more meaningful it is that you've known this piece most of your life. And now you get to enjoy its renaissance. Thanks for sharing!
Thank YOU for watching! 😊
I love to see a new video from Transcend. You and Tom are really the only ones I watch now days.
That is high praise! Thank you so much for watching!
It is called character! Just beautiful! It is as the wood tells you a story and you hear it! Love the bunnies and your videos. ❤️ I always leave in higher spirits.❤️👋👋👋
Oh thank you! I'm very glad to hear that, made my day! ❤️
That wood grain!!!! So stunning!!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this piece and your memories with us. I can tell it means a lot to you, and it turned out gorgeous with all that special character retained!
Thanks so much for watching!
That walnut grain is breathtaking! The love you showed this piece is very telling to the care you give your projects. I hope it gets a long second life with you❤
Thank you so much!! 😃
Absolutely beautiful! Walnut is my absolute favorite. So rich in color, stunning.
It's one of mine too! Thanks so much for watching!!
What a beautiful dresser! I love the carved details. Another top-notch restoration -- thanks for sharing your work with us!
Thank YOU for watching! I'm so glad you like the piece!
The piece is lovely! I am in awe of how tidy your workshop is. If my house was a fraction as clean I would be sooooo happy. Superior in every way!
@@helenfitch3440 Priorities! Who wouldn't rather watch this than clean?
Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Stunning! You were so fortunate to have such a beautiful dresser, walnut means home. Glad you are doing better.
Thanks for the black dot clue.
Thanks so much Kit!
You are just so incredibly talented you consistently “wow us” again and again!🙌🙏💕👏🏻
Thank you so much!!
really good show about your childhood dresser refinishing with the dings left in …also the bunny rescue speaks volumes of caring for all creatures great and small
Thank you so much for watching!
What a beautiful piece of furniture! The finish you gave to it made it absolutely gorgeous. No wonder you kept it for so many years. Enjoy it!!
I will! Thanks so much for watching!
Angie, I've worked in training for 30 years; development and conducting training. You are a natural teacher. TY
Thank you so much!
Thanks Angie. This turned out beautiful as all of your transformations do. ❤️
Thank YOU for watching Elizabeth! I'm so glad you like it.
The moody music perfectly conveys the flowing memories as you tenderly give TLC to your childhood dresser.
Would that I still had mine! My mother replaced my childhood furniture abruptly, without asking or telling me. It was just gone; all but the toy chest, which she kept and repurposed several times over decades. Finally I inherited it, and it sits in the garage waiting for me to do something with it. Dates back to 1957.
PS your dresser turned out absolutely lovely!🌹
Thank you very much for watching! 😊
what a stunning piece. i love how special it is to you. and it’s really cool to know the background of a piece. great job as always.
Thanks for watching!
Madam, you did good. I like the attitude of care you gave this project. Loved It!!!
Thanks so much!
What a transformation ! Beautiful piece 🙂
Thank you very much!
The color of the piece after you restored it is AMAZING! Never knew walnut had such a rich color to it. Positively beautiful ❤ Great videos too!
Thank you so much! 😊
Glad that your back is back, and that you are back with videos about your beautiful work!
This one, as always, is really nice. Glad you kept the perfect imperfections and are celebrating the really great wood with a clear finish 💥🥳
Thank you so much 😀 I'm so glad to be back!
You did such a nice job on your old piece of furniture. I like how the wood looks so rich
Thank you so much Lorraine!
It amazes me how beautiful the wood is under all that tacky finish from the past! It's crazy how much they went out of their way to hide it. And it makes me look twice at old furniture.
Ps: looks like Nacho is happy to donate some thumbs to your organization process! 😁
Nacho is always very happy to lend thumbs to ANY project! 😺Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful! I love how you try to preserve the history of a piece by leaving evidence of its prior life and the passage of time.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Thank you for doing this dresser justice! It always makes me sad to see people take a unique, beautiful piece like this and make it look like something you could find anywhere, if that makes sense.
Oh, I definitely understood your comment! I was heartbroken to see another person on RUclips refinish a beautiful Georgian style mahogany dresser and proclaim that the brass hardware and shell motif were ugly and then proceed to paint the whole darn thing grey! PS, she actually removed the shell motif.
It makes sense! Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you liked the way it turned out! 😊
@@wallihaley5194 I saw a woman take a dresser from the 1800s that was in excellent condition, it was stained in two tones, darker for the frame and more of a mahogany for the drawers, hand painted with gold detailing. She removed all of the hand carved decals and pieces (which were beautifully done) and painted it black. In the end it looked like a flat faced dresser from Ikea with slightly more ornate legs. 😩
I hit the "like button" even before watching because you NEVER disappoint! Always look forward to watching your beautiful work and seeing your furry kids. thanks Angie...
You are so welcome Barbara! Thank you, as always, for your kind words!
You showed it real respect, and it just glows.
Thank you so much for watching! 🙂
LOVE the bunny's !!!!!!!!!!!! The furniture is beautiful, too!!!
Thank you very much!
Your videos are NEVER boring!! I love the attention to detail you put into each piece! The final reveal is always so satisfying and beautiful!! Thanks.
You're most welcome! Thank you so much for watching! 🙂
I admire your craftsmanship and attention to detail. I am a big fan of your MCM pieces and I am even beginning to accept a little paint. That said, this piece is stunning. Great bones and you have brought out the character and story of that tree/s. Good luck in finding your personal balance, I would miss seeing your work, Nacho and the buns.
Thanks so much for watching!
You are absolutely incredible and everything you do...
Wow! Love the character of the nicks left behind and the variations of the natural wood. What a labor of love ...just beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Glad to see you back and feeling better. The dresser is beautiful!
Very glad to be back!! Thank you so much!
I just love Nacho! He sure has a personality! Tooo Cooot!!!🎉😅❤
He's quite a guy!! Thanks for watching! 😺
You never cease to amaze me, you gave no more love and care to this piece than you do any other piece. The beauty of the grain is spectacular. Please, please, please do not EVER sell this dresser. It is part of your history.
Thanks so much for watching!
Missed you! So glad you are feeling better and making videos! This dresser is just beautiful.
I'm very glad to be back! Thanks so much for watching!
WOW! Lovely. So glad you kept it real, rather than using a coloured stain, or bleaching or painting. It deserved this. Very impressed.
Thanks for watching!
Angie, this is beautiful! Also, SO glad to see you back. It feels like forever. HUGS :D
Very glad to be back!!! 😊❤️ Thanks for watching!
absolutely gorgeous as always Angie sweetie! beautiful work and we all just LOVE THE BUNNY SEGMENT!! Keep it going sweetie! WE LOVE YOU!!!
You're such a sweetheart Dottie!! Thank you so much for your constant encouragement. ❤️
6:42 Yes, but in a transcendental state :-) I have no furniture at all since I live on my sailboat. I just watch for relaxation after a busy day. Works like a charm, and I love what you do and your calm voice narrating it all.
I'm so glad you're enjoying my content! Thanks so much for watching!
As usual you've done an absolutely beautiful job on this beautiful dresser
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
It turned out absolutely gorgeous.
