    Nice review content. In the summer I would use it in the garage and the winter use it indoors to make it more energy efficient. Thanks. I’m going to get one.

      That is exactly what I am doing right now - it is out in my shed drying peppers so no heat inside. When it cools off and I want the heat inside I bring it in ! It really is a nice unit and the newer model should have the upgraded trays that are cupped and have finer mesh too.

      Glad it helped you out. I think the current version comes with the finer mesh cupped trays . And the guides for them are stamped into the side so you don't have to slide them in like the older model I have. Probably better design on both aspects , especially the finer mesh on trays so herbs or small pieces of whatever don't fall through as they dry up.

      I wanted to make a video of the things I would want to know about it. After having used it for awhile, I don't have any complaints about it. But I won't really put it to the test until next summer when I start drying herbs and basil. It worked great last fall for peppers and apples.

      @@oseaghin It just doesn't seem like there is anything else in the price range of this for the quality build that it is . Let us know if you get a the new rounded trays or the flat ones like in the video. The newer model doesn't have the clip in guides like I show - the interior has some bumped out tracks . Looks like a good improvement on design. The newer curved trays have a tighter mesh too .

      @@LarryKapp1 Ditto on the price/power/quality. I will update as soon as I get my hands on it this weekend.

      @@oseaghin Someone else had made a comment about the trays shown in ad. They deleted the discussion we had . Basically the company said there was a newer model but Amazon was still shipping the older ones in stock. No big deal to me because I think the main difference is the trays. The new trays might be nice since they have the cup shape to help things from falling out. And like I said finer mesh so that would be nice to keep herbs and smaller cut pieces of things from falling out. If you order on Amazon where they have the newer model pictured , and get the old one you could probably contact them to see about it. I didn't hassle with it , but the other person had contacted them and they sent her a set of the newer trays. But those trays don't fit quite right in the older model because the redesigned tray holders. Just thought I would mention it in case it is something important to you. I should look and see if they have raised the price - maybe the older models were being sold at a discount to clear out inventory . Like I said not a deal breaker for me either way.

    Thanks for this review. Very detailed, even explaining about magnetism. ❤🙏🏾 I will purchase this. The only thing I wish this unit was collapsible like SAHARA Folding Dehydrator. Their plastics body was a deterrent.

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  2 года назад +4

      Yeah no way this one will collapse so it will always take up the space of it's dimensions , and it is heavy due to the weight of metal so is solid built .

    Hi Larry! Do you have an update on this product? I like the review you did, it was very thorough. So I am curious how it is going 7 months later. Thanks!

    • @LarryKapp1

      I haven't used it much since it was winter and I had no produce to dry. But I hadn't any problems with it so far. Now that spring is here ( almost) , once the garden gets growing I will be using the dehydrator a lot more. I would recommend getting one because the build quality is so good on it for the price.

      I just looked on amazon here - not sure where you live but amazon here has them for $240 minus a $50 discount so for under $200 that is a great price !

    From the “don’t touch” sticker on the top right corner, I’m assuming this dehydrator gets hot on the outside?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  Год назад

      Depends on what temperature you have it set to . And the ambient temperature of the room. I haven't ever noticed it to get too hot . The heat is evenly distributed inside by the fan so the outside shouldn't get hotter than the setting. It is an uninsulated metal box so yes the outside will get almost as warm as the inside.

  • @barbdavis4634
    @barbdavis4634 7 месяцев назад

    It has been a year since you reviewed the dehydrator. Was it reliable?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I have no complaints . They actually improved the design a bit since they now have trays that have tighter mesh with curved sides. Also the tray supports are integrated into the sides instead of the snap in ones like I have. I don't use my dehydrator a lot, but the times I have it works fine. For the price it is some high quality heavy stainless steel.

  • @IanMo0ne
    @IanMo0ne 4 месяца назад

    Is the dehydrator still working? How many times have you used it?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  4 месяца назад

      yes it still works fine. I haven't really used it as much as I thought I would . It might be that compared to the old plastic one I had , it does so much more all at once and faster . I didn't have enough peppers last year to dry and skipped making dried apples last year too. But used it for shitake mushrooms , basil, and some other stuff . I like still like it !

  • @wolfenstein6676
    @wolfenstein6676 Год назад

    Thanks for the review. How much would you say it costs an hour, on average, to run one of these dehydrators?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  Год назад +2

      If your electricity costs 10 cents a kwh and this is 1000 watts heating element - that means if it ran for 1 hour that would equal 1kwh ( 10 cents ) However when in use the heating element cycles on and off . How long it stays on for depends on temperature of the space around it , and of course the temperature it is set for. If heater was on 50% of the time then it would cost 5 cents an hour in above example. So you need to know how much your electricity costs per kwh . I haven't ever checked how much power it uses for like 10 hours it might take . I should do that sometime.

    One question. Does it have the smart dual mode where it starts at higher temperature to kill off bacteria, then switches automatically to a lower temperature for dehydration purposes ?
