I hear you about Roadside Picnic. I liked it more as it went on and think the fourth chapter saved it for me, but it was definitely more of a “heady” book for me than an emotional one, and I though Red was scummy at times. Bamboozled by the publishers of The Ice Dragon! It was good, and I could imagine it being rewritten to fit in the ASOIAF world. 😅 I agree with your feelings about Salem’s Lot. I thought it showcased King’s ability to make the town a character. Great wrap-up!
Thanks! I’m glad I read Roadside and maybe would benefit from rereading it. I would probably be able to go in with a better head space. King is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers
You're getting me very curious to try out Cixin Liu, even though I am more of a character-driven reader. The concepts sound so wild!! And oooh I am looking forward to more Buffy thoughts!
Excellent list, Tom! I'm pretty deficient in my King reading as I'm not a big horror guy. That said, Dark Tower is a top 5 all time series for me, so maybe I do need to grab Salem's Lot for the connection. I love your conversational approach to making videos.
I just finished book 4 in the Dark Tower and holy shit is it amazing! I think you will love it when you get to it eventually. Just got to get past book 1 Gunslinger, which was in my view just OK. King is 👑 I’m intrigued by Supernova Era. I will try to get back to Ci Xin Liu before the end of the year; I’ve only read the Remembrance series (and few short stories) by him. Sorry that Roadside Picnic did not work out for you.
Im excited to start the dark tower at some point. I want to read some more of his other works before jumping into it. Liu just clicks for me in a way that most authors dont.
I am now about 1/3rd in Memories of Ice, and can already understand why people love this particular entry. We'll see how it lands overall for us next month - Cheers Tom!
Roadside Picnic is one I am still interested in as I love the film adaptation, Stalker. It's a very beautiful and thought-provoking movie, but it's also not for everyone considering it's a 3-hour long Russian film
New subscriber here. Really enjoying watching your videos, and find what you say about each or the authors interesting, and definitely given me a few suggestions already for ones to check out.
King is just overspoiled in general. I have minor interest in reading Salem's Lot eventually and I still somehow managed to get it spoilt, and thinking back on the other popular stuff from him I want to check out, I always knew the ending before I ever got around to actually reading it. It's cool they're finally syncing across platforms now!
Buffy !!!!! Holy crap. You just brought me back to my youth ! Wow. Such a good show. Looking forward to watching the live stream ! 🎉
I really enjoyed watching it for the first time!

The concepts are out of this world for sure!

Great video Tom! I’m glad you enjoyed Salem’s Lot. It’s actually my favorite Stephen King book.
He is 4 for 4 with me so far.

Glad you are enjoying!
You have to leave the picture of the book longer on the screen. Please.
Thanks for the feedback!

I think a lot of his work is just a part of pop culture now it’s very hard to avoid
@@TomOrange Definitely, and a lot of the time even knowing the ending it doesn't throw you off very much. The book's still somehow great.
🤗💜
