The Sierra are gorgeous though. That part if the country was a big part of my life when I was travelling in professional motorsports. I love the high desert climate but also agree with you about the lush green forests and flowing rivers of the northeast as well as the small towns. Where in the eastern Sierra are you?
@@ThatMountainMoment I live in Reno. Been to Truckee/Tahoe multiple times (hostel in Truckee is awesome and the hostel in S. Lake Tahoe has many good reviews) and aside from Reno's many warts, i like the fact that I'm close to a Lot of good trip destinations. I've a trip planned to explore/photograph 'the Lost Sierras' (N. Sierras). Additionally, i want to talk to some of the folks involved in the Connected Communities Initiative. Essentially, a proposed/in beginning stage project to link all the little mountain towns via a multi-user trail system; folks there see the economic gold in ecotourism since timber and mining have ceased being an economic driver. Photographing the areas impacted by last year's massive wildfires is also a mission. For, being a native of the West Coast and living in the Intermountain West, the wildfires had a far more personal impact. Also, knew people who had friends or family who were burned out or had to evacuate their towns. Thankfully, all we in the Reno/Sparks area had to endure was crazy heat and severely unhealthy air quality. We did have a lot of Tahoe refugees briefly; metaphorically praying this year's not as bad..! Playing the waiting game currently since we're in the weird, coldish grip of Sprinter. Can't do anything until the snow melts and the trails dry out. Also, i want to avoid freezing or below freezing nights/early mornings. Lastly, you should if you can, get out here come mid-May or Early June check out 'my' neck of the woods. The local trails in the Peavines, Virginia range, etc. should be fully open and the Sierras as well (maybe a snow patch here or there but, nothing impassible). Check out The Dropout (bike shop/coffee shop combo) in Little Portland for any bike or caffeinated needs; might be slammed or semi-slammed but, it's a legit bike shop and the folks on the coffee end are coffee-nerds (!). Bring beefy locks though, Reno has a major meth/meth zombie problem..!
Been watching you guys since almost the beginning and I gotta say that your adventures have become something that brings great joy and inspiration to my daily life. Really excited for this series.
Thanks so much man! I hope they enjoy it and potentially want to ride the route. We have a really cool statewide route project that we are collaborating on for this coming season.
I’ve been watching y’all’s videos all afternoon. Currently in TX but moving back to New England sometime in the next few years. Recently picked up a Canyon Grizl and can’t wait to embark on some epic adventures like these. The white mountains are an absolutely stunning part of the country! Keep pedaling!
Paul for some reason I just saw this comment, RUclips held it for approval for some reason, not sure why. That's awesome you're miving back. What area are you moving to?
Thank you! We love the Woho products! The fitment is excellent, Nikki loves the gray colors and they've been flawless in operation of zippers and durability. The fact that WOHO offers complete ready to ride packages is a very cool option as well. We'll be ordering some more items for this season. Thank you for checking out our channel and making such quality/affordable gear.
@@ThatMountainMoment you bet. The weather is slowly starting to warm up here in the Okanagan BC. We are heading out for a trip mid May. You live in a beautiful area - lucky you. So do we - lucky us! Take care.
@@ThatMountainMoment From Stockholm for now :) I lived on the West coast too, and actually originally I'm from Hungary :) But now my home is the harsh north, and I'm loving it :)
Oh that's awesome! We are in the northern part of our region and I agree that there's something special about living in a climate such as that. The quietness and peace of mind is indescribable.
Hi Michael thanks for the question and watching. The Wahoo is an Element Roam. Very happy with it. It's enhanced and expanded where we ride. It's probably my favorite piece of bike related gear that we've ever purchased. Works great with many different apps but for building and loading routes it seems to have almost been made for RidewithGPS. Hope you've had a great week of riding.
Great video! a couple friends and I are looking at doing the northern section over a 3 day weekend, probably cutting down from Cannan to Andover roughly. Any tips for that northern section or a good way to connect the route keeping it around 150-170 miles? thanks!
I'll send you a really sweet loop in a few minutes that uses the northern section to Canaan then utilizes the northern rail trail right to Andover and heads back up to the start point from there. It's 184 miles 13,000ft of gain. I know it's slightly above your mileage goal but you'll cover some very fast miles on the rail trail and the few road sections I included. I just finished building the route this morning for you. There are plenty of food and re-supply stops on this route. Terrain is a nice balanced mix of trails, class 6 roads, gravel, pavement and snowmobile trails. It's adventurous with some mellow road sections for moving recovery and putting some miles down. Designed for 2 or 3 nights. I'll send you the link in a few.
Depends on where I am. If It's an area I know well such as in this video, my level of comfort is higher. I usually feel out each situation and move forward for a bit and then reevaluate. It also depends on the state of which we're in. New Hampshire's land laws are really good where recreation is allowed on private land unless posted otherwise. It's a shared land law
@@ThatMountainMoment we are just shifting back to biking from hiking this year and your page caught our attention. We are from southern NH and the wife is new to biking. Will be a fun spring summer, challenge is she went with an ebike which will limit where we can go ride etc. NH isnt the friendly ebike state.
E bikes are great, my mom has an e mountain bike and I've tried it on some longer gravel routes. The battery life is very terrain specific. On flatter rides it goes about double as far as the hilly terrain. But can still squeak out a very hilly 30 mile ride before recharging. NH is getting better with e bike acceptance with each year. i think you'll have a blast! E bikes really are super fun and bring out the inner child for sure. Spring will be here before we know it!
Ah yes, we have since built a full return loop instead of a point to point. The section from Lincoln,NH heading to Jacksonville,VT is whats depicted in the video series which is the 225 mile ride.
Thanks! They are 650b 2.1 WTB Nano. Great for just about everything and even roll quick on the road. I'm really happy with them and they take a beating too on more rugged stuff. WTB nailed it for a versatile tread pattern with great traction and low rolling resistance. Thanks for watching. I see your in NH, where do you typically ride?
For this trip it was a mixed bag of places. We dont hesitate to stealth camp but it's always nice to have a shower and utilize state parks or local campgrounds, and the occasional cheap hotel or airbnb as a treat.
Thanks Joseph! The GPS unit is a Wahoo Element Roam. Integrates really well with the RideWithGps app or the Komoot app. It's been one of the best bike investments we've purchased.
I've forgotten what Green looks like living in Nevada/Eastern Sierra vicinity; just glad we don't have as many ticks...
