So I noticed in the pictures of the bass players, a lot of them use picks! Is that “metal” to use a pick so that it sounds different? Or does it really not matter all come down to personal preference? I love my bass, but I’m conflicted on if I should play with or without a pick. Any ideas and tips?
It is personal preference! Some songs require one or another but most are up to you. Picks will always give a brighter, more direct song and most people can play faster with a pick than fingers. At the same time, the tone you get from fingers is very classic and a little more versatile because you can play softer or harder. If you want to know what you should play with, the answer is both, just try each and one day you might find yourself gravitating towards one more than the other.
It's very much personal preference and whatever feels right with you or whatever tone sounds better in your opinion, even amongst pick players and finger players there's a lot of variation in what you can do or what your preference is. Such as pick players playing with a certain hardness of pick or a finger player choosing between 1-4 fingers to play with- Everything is about what's good for you.
I like how I see you everywhere in comment sections, made a King of the Hill comp that that has almost a million views, and also have an interest in metal and bass.
Dyers eve has the most aggressive sounding bass I have ever heard. Underrated, Love you Newsted!
electric basses are more metal than electric guitars.

its tuned down to drop B standard, its like reverse dog frequency
Rex brown or jason newsted have the heaviest bass lines . Love the sound of a spector or an alembic
Justin Chancellor too!
Thatd be rammstein
I learned Tom Araya is the worst bassist and Slayer is boring lol
Its so funny how some these seem straight programmed out like guitar pro or something
Example, the negative ones
Or Painkiller

The bass from Through the Fire and the Flames is so obviously spliced
05:26 It sounds like a programmed bass. How's that possible?
Ha
I think it’s because they couldn’t get an isolated version not sure though
Not fake.painkiller is te real bass like a old arcade 16 bits

Ian Hill is a machine
Blackened by newsted needed to be here instead of dyers eve because he write the main riff
But dyers eve is a better song
