if you've never played an LTD you shouldn't judge them from that, it's one of their cheapest models. Their 400 series guitars (EC, H, and MH) are the best value mass produced guitars on the market, and their 1000 series stuff is probably the best you can buy for under $1000.
Mike Schultz I agree most of the guitars I’ve had were LTDs I have a custom EC-401 and a EXP-200 before they stopped making them. Another good one was the EC-256 I used to have
@@dougk7883 Hi Doug, I"m planning on getting one of these, EC-10 or EC-256 (22 frets or 24 frets). The price difference is about $40 ($139 for EC-10 and $179 for EC-256 22frs and $229 for EC-256 24frs). What do you think? All of them are new in box with accessories.

Proud to be a Troglodite ! I'm 54 and have bought, sold ,traded, and given away over 100 guitars. Lately I've been seeking Squier , Schecter , and LTD guitars. Amazing the quality that is out there. I got a Hondo Fame for $20. Someone had ripped out the input jack wiring. With a replacement Switchcraft jack and plate purchased for under $10 bucks, it sounds and plays great. Thanks Trogley for covering a wide spectrum. So many guitars, so little time and money.
I worked at a guitar shop and I was in charge of handling the LTD/ESP guitars. Their entry level LTD stuff was on par with Ibanez, which is really good. The higher level Korean LTD Deluxe stuff is awesome and theirJapanese ESP stuff was super superior to anything in a comparable price range!
(I typed this for episode 1 but you posted this right when I was done so I thought I might as well move it.) I just traded my main guitar (Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro) for a Refinished in white 2010 Gibson SG Special at the Atlanta (Grinningelk) Guitar Show, and despite a lot of buzzing on both E strings open (only open), definitely worth the trade. I was thinking of trading it as well after I get it set up and record some videos/songs with it. I don't have the talent you have for commentary, nor do I have good enough equipment to review everything individually, so when I'm done I'll just do a montage of every different guitar from start to finish. Maybe one day I'll trade with you for something. Anyways, good luck on Season 2 of Trade Tuesday! P.S. I love cheap ESPs a lot. Really nice guitars. Some of them are the most flashy looking guitars under 1000 bucks. I particularly love certain deeper blue examples of the ESP LTD MH103QM (now replaced with the 203QM which I like less and is more expensive). The only problem is that there is a HUGE variety in color and the quilting on the ?veneers? so they range from almost green to an almost plain blue.
Got the EC-256 in faded Cherry bookend flame on sale at GC, $250. Build quality surprisingly excellent. Binding everywhere. Cheap tuners though . . . story is ESP set up a luthier school in Japan where all Asian builders must graduate. So, if Korean, Vietnam, Indonesia builds, all were trained in Japan. Good building block for upgrading tuners and pickups, etc.
I've (JB) got a custom shop ESP eclipse from the mid 90s before they were sued for copying the les Paul shape. It is unique and was my first guitar love. ESP/LTD is a quality guitar. I talked someone into buying one over an epiphone.
I know people are going to give me a huge ration of crap but ESP not LTD......but ESP is just as good as Gibson. ESP Custom shop guitars are second to none. They are unbelievably great playing guitars. I have a custom shop Ouija board guitar and it is incredible!!!! It truly plays better than any of my Les Pauls.
Hey man was rewatching this season and saw your comment from a couple years ago and you are right on.I have a over 20yo LTD I still play but I have an E=II and a Custom Shop ESP and its the greatest guitar I've ever owned.I've had it 7 years and I sold a Les Paul for it and never missed that Gibson.
If it’s a little older it is actually Rosewood, and it’s not an “upside down” book headstock. It’s a flag, higher end ESP and LTD have Matching Flag inlays... do yourself a favor and review a ESP Eclipse. You’ll be glad you did :)
This was my main guitar - well, a similar one (EC-300, worth about $300, but I got it for free). I was not that into gear and someone just left one of these at my house and I took it and made it my main guitar. Sounded like crap, but got it setup and it played so well and sounded good after the setup. It was a real workhorse guitar and I played the shit out of it. Not my style these days, but I do recommend it for anyone that is playing punk or metal or anything. I took it all over the US, to different countries, I didn't baby it, I abused it, but it held up to the abuse.
I have one of these too... It's much better than the price suggests... I had to get one because I had already gotten the pack with the M series...It was actually a present 😁😁😁😁 I gave everything else but I kept the guitar... After some work and a few upgrades I was blown away with how great and easy to play it was...And the neck is fast and glorious... It's a lot of quality for a low budget... So I got the EC-10 too and I'm glad I did...
I have an Ltd m10 and I love it. I ended up putting in a set of GFS gold foils and painting it with evh stripes but silver gold and black instead of red gold and black. I'm planning on redoing it in a red sparkle eventually but for now I like the finish as is
I got one of those @ GC 2yrs ago to keep at my parent's house to play when I'm there. Played unbelievable off the rack for $120 new! I leveled & polished the frets, put an EMG in the bridge & installed glow in the dark dots & side markers. Intonation is perfect after filing the nut down a bit. I want to replace it with something more expensive but then when I play it, I can't justify ditching it. It plays and sounds killer. Not as good as my Gibson's but let's be realistic. LOL! I keep it in drop B also. 🤘🏼😎🍺
i really like your revews, you rearely see such a detailed look on an instrument :) i would like to see review of Yamaha SG if you ever get a chance. Once they were called "les paul killers", i guess for a reason :) i have two of sg700s and i can tell they are really amazing workhorses with amazing sound and moved me completely from other LP style of guitars PS. keep in mind i never had original Gibson LP, they are too expensive for people in Croatia. I had ESPs and Epiphones
I got mine in a deal for a Dean Markley K50 amp and my EC 10 for $200 and drove about 100 miles round trip. I ended up playing with it and loving it. I sold my Glarry ES 335 clone and ended up trading the amp and a Harmony H802 for a Line 6 spider 3 30 amp to go with the second hand FBV express pedals I bought for my POD 2.0 and now I'm finally happy with my set up. I just need a looper station and I'll be set.
I'm shocked you haven't gotten the ESP yet! it took you this long to get a LTD though.. they have better quality than even Gibson at times. They are brand worth checking out
A few years ago I fixed up a badly treated one of these (also covered in stickers) for a friend. After several hours removing sticker residue, replacing a couple of pots, and setting up the neck and the nut slots, I had a great playing guitar with the lowest action I've ever had. Despite the bolt-on neck, it sustained for ages. The only weak items were the pickups. Obviously high-output ceramic units, they were fine for all-out filth, but didn't do clean or subtle. So with a pickup change (for me at least), one of these would make a really nice starter or second guitar.
Had two different price points of the mh series and they both played equally well. I agree with the 10 series, mine was a mh-10 and looked super plain. For about 3-500 u can get a set neck and a figured top with big brand pickups. Thorough video man.
I used to own Japanese ESP Eclipse. Definitely the highest quality guitar I ever owned! (I also owned 2k Gibson LP, Fender American Deluxe Strat from around 2006, Gibson SG 61 Reissue, Godin Summit) Japanese ESP Eclipses are like BMWs of a guitar world!
My very first guitar was an EC-10. Oh the horrible things i did to that guitar.... i loved it! one of my highest recommendations for a beginner guitar.
I just got my first guitar recently after having borrowed my friend's Fender Strat for a couple months. I got a a used LTD M-200 and I would agree it is pretty plain but my plan was to put a Rodan movie poster decal on it bc I love Kirk Hammett's horror movie guitars. I really enjoy it a lot. If you sand it down it actually has a cheap plywood top. mine had a large void in a ply still it's a great guitar and even though I fret leveled mine it wasn't hard as most guitars as it was accurately glued in frets. This shape of guitar is the same exact as the esp eclipse series so you get most of what one of those have but not the looks.
I bought a ec 10 relic from a kid get some grovers pure gold! Sounds wonderful intonates spot on strings stay on their fretboard evenly with 24 frets it's great also 13 lbs
you can probably get away with just a setup and changing the bridge pickup and you've got a pretty nice guitar. get a little dough from grandma for xmas, and you can upgrade the other pickup and the tuners. then you've got a really nice guitar. even the stickers work nicely for me (compared to plain black black), although I am not 12.
LTD make the best import guitars imo, but it does also boil down to your preference of neck, fret size, and fingerboard radius preferences. These Eclipses have tiny necks, flat fingerboards, and huge frets. If that's your thing, they are hard to beat.
ESP’s and LTD’s are great! I have an LTD Eclipse, got it for $600 and it sounds amazing. It came stock with dimarzio pick ups and had the coil split feature and let me tell you, the cleans are beautiful, distortion works great with these pick ups as well. 🤘
Malcolm Hardwick It can be made from any hard wood but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s manufactured hardwood. That means that strands, plies, etc. have been glued together with heat & pressure added to create one board. With a veneer top, of course you can see the grain. It’s still an inferior product.
Blkjakk I know what particle board is and what it can be made from. Just saying that this fingerboard is not made from particle board. It's maple that's been engineered ( baked in this case) to remove all the sugars and it becomes this rosewood looking wood. I did see a solid body electric guitar once made from particle board, albeit 45 mm thick ! It was call 'the animal' or just Animal I can't remember ☺
Malcolm Hardwick It’s plys put together with heat, glue & pressure. Technically that would make it plywood with a veneer top. This is what they use on the cheaper models. It is not what is commonly referred to as “baked maple” which denotes a solid piece of maple that has been baked to make it darker. That is not the case with this. This is why you see this stuff on cheap guitars.
trade for a prs tremonti se. you will love it get the older model piano black with white binding and hard tail. i love mine its like a lp with improvements. and take the stickers off. if you want to put stickers on. put the sticky side against your shirt or carpet a few times before you stick it on the guitar. it will keep it from messing up the finish and real easy to remove and change out for dif looks with no residue

Since alot of documents got burned in a fire at hq in the 90s but I'm also bad with google I can't find anything factual about my current f200 that isnt mahogany soild body its bass wood With active emgs.

I tried to start my own trade Tuesday with my local craigslist. I started out with a MIM olympic white stratocaster and now I have a small pineapple ukulele from a brand called "glarry?" What am I doing wrong man???
Really nice video man, thanks. I was wondering what would You suggest for an aftermarket replacement for single cut entre level guitars electronics that would match Gibson's quality
Get an LTD Eclipse 200, 300, 400 or 1000 and put Gibson pickups in it. It'll sound great. I'd personally put Lace, Fishman or Bareknuckles in there though.

you can probably get away with just a setup and changing the bridge pickup and you've got a pretty nice guitar. get a little dough from grandma for xmas, and you can upgrade the other pickup and the tuners. then you've got a really nice guitar. even the stickers work nicely for me (compared to plain black black), although I am not 12.
I own both the Ltd and the epiphone. I definitely think it’s better than the epiphone
love the part where you attempted Chop Suey by system of a down. very nice, this will probably become my next guitar purchase
LTD make the best import guitars imo, but it does also boil down to your preference of neck, fret size, and fingerboard radius preferences. These Eclipses have tiny necks, flat fingerboards, and huge frets. If that's your thing, they are hard to beat.
I’ve always preferred esp/Ltd to Gibson since they have the vibe but more geared towards metal dudes
Hellyeah man 🤘
Go for EC-400 up to 1000 models ;)
Hello! I haven't found a single store selling this model new anywhere. They all say it's "on order"...
Eep you’re a brave soul Trog-I’ve heard goo gone can mess up the finish!
goo gone is safe to use
Great guitars for the price! I've owned the EC50 and the Viper50 and they were both solid. Might have to get one of these tho! I kinda miss them now!
if any one's wondering about the religious sticker, I think it says "It's your hell, you burn in it." if I was Trogly, I would've taken it off too lol
Haha, Right!!!?
I mean what the hell does that even mean?
🤣

🤣
I like that he does the weight and length in kg’s and mm’s aswell
Oh hey, the monkey sticker alone adds a hundred bucks value, surely. ;)
Battlegrounds? PUPG, Pub-Geee dude!
ESP’s and LTD’s are great! I have an LTD Eclipse, got it for $600 and it sounds amazing. It came stock with dimarzio pick ups and had the coil split feature and let me tell you, the cleans are beautiful, distortion works great with these pick ups as well. 🤘
I hope you get to try the EC-256 and EC401. the ones ive played have been better than a lot of the budget gibsons.
My first guitar was a red ltd ec 100. Its basically this but with a quilt top
Same here. Still have mine!
Engineered wood is basically particle board glued together & pressed together
Blkjakk in this case it's basically baked maple. As you can see the wood grain.
Maybe we'll get see an Ibanez on here one day fingers crossed 👌
Replace the battlegrounds sticker by a jack Daniel's sticker,it will fit wayyyyy better!!! 😎😎😎
Hellyeah man 😂🤘
9:41 Chop Suey ish?
you should look into trades for a synth! they are really fun
Good trade
Please make a WYRON on an old Aria Gibson copy, or Mac DeMarco’s hybrid of a Teisco and a Mosrite.
Pls do a review on a high end dean ml
genuinely considering buying this and paying for the shipping to canada bc this is fucking sick
Always liked the thinkgeek monkey...curious to know what the birds are
Teefury. Nerdy, pop culture shirts. Really good stuff.
Does it stays in tune after a solo?
trade for a prs tremonti se. you will love it get the older model piano black with white binding and hard tail. i love mine its like a lp with improvements. and take the stickers off. if you want to put stickers on. put the sticky side against your shirt or carpet a few times before you stick it on the guitar. it will keep it from messing up the finish and real easy to remove and change out for dif looks with no residue
Love your vids man
Getting the blue one in left handed
I have a LTD EC-200 with 2 volume knobs, one tone knob and split humbuckers
Man I really wish you had more esp and Ltd on this show. Middle of the road with Ltd basically gets you where you wanna be. Most recently bought a f200 to customize the most unfortunate parts of having a Ltd is finding information. Since alot of documents got burned in a fire at hq in the 90s but I'm also bad with google I can't find anything factual about my current f200 that isnt mahogany soild body its bass wood With active emgs.
please do the same with a Squier J.Mascis Jazzmaster!
Never played one but as you say it looks, a really good buy for the money.
Goofy supermarket stickers aside thats a mean beautiful affordable geetar.
I know that you don’t really do requests, but can you please do an Review of the LTD Iron cross? I do not know about Les Pauls because im actually an fender player. But I wanted to hear the opinion of an proffessional Les Paul Genius. Thanks!
Ahhh, my first electric guitar
Christian Gregorio Same here!
I just got this guitar and a fender champion 20 amp and I have no fucken idea what I’m doing can you help me out on a dope ass tone?
The control routing is what they call "spoon routed".
i got one of these. its a damn good guitar for the money
I tried to start my own trade Tuesday with my local craigslist. I started out with a MIM olympic white stratocaster and now I have a small pineapple ukulele from a brand called "glarry?" What am I doing wrong man???
these guitars are diamonds in the rough
you should try a ec1000 deluxe
Throw the neo mistress pedal to de deal , maybe you can get more of the trade .
Everbody's first guitar looks like this.
@@alvinpietzsch1534 totally agree with You but not really sure that pickups alone will match a Gibson tone/quality.
prs uses a 25 inch scale you can get a 24 3/4 scale prs sc but the tremonti se is 25 and i like it
You should make more videos on budget singlecuts
Trogly u need to try an Eric Clapton signature Stratocaster
I have a beaten up clapton strat and she plays like gold
I'd rather see a Sweetwater cherry burst with roasted maple neck and fretboard one or an Eric Johnson
