How much of that 100mil just went into ppls pockets though, it's the same with every liberal project, a 2 to 3 times cost blowout and a tonne of corruption
Thank you for a fab intro to Australia’s newest speedway. It sure brought the crowds out. Once again you have brought us the latest news in Speedway. More to come soon, I hope…..
The track shape reminds me of Liverpool Speedway, NSW tight turn 1 then 2, 3, & 4 opened up into the same quarter mile. In 1967 when my father raced speed cars at Liverpool that's why Gladestone looks so familiar. Good luck up there. Great atmosphere.
Looks great, needs some big stands for more crowd seating because it looks like it is gonna be popular and obviously the track surface needs work but that will come in time.
Wow ! you can get so close to the track thats awesome !! Now I am coming down under from USA if I have to swim down. So cool ! Going to wait a year and let them hone it in. Love It !
Toby great video. When you mentioned Gary Rush I was at those meetings and saw Gary go around. The man can drive a Sprint Car. It looks like I'll have to make the trip to Gladstone Speedway I have an uncle who lives there
Toby here's a plan...A) Kidnap Bob McCosker and take him to Macquarie Street followed by Eastern Creek as it appears he's the man to set them straight...B) If plan A fails (for whatever reason) clone Bob and his team, find some land north of Sydney, preferably Newie due to airport location, and they can set about building a brand new track, just like Tomago used to have. Their efforts at Gladstone proves achieving a good track is not impossible...and I'm guessing for a whole lot less $$$ than was spent on the disaster at EC ;-)
Your content is King bud. It seems sprint car racing around the globe is growing real fast. Hope you get back to the states again next season. Maybe see you in Knoxville in 24.
@@SprintCarHub Fantastic that Queensland has a new Speedway, even if it is a little shorter than I wished for (1/3 mile) but that's still some great news though, isn't? Like, for the sport in, not just in Queensland (with the loss of yet another iconic venue, Archerfield Speedway, but a loss for Australia and Australian Motorsports, fan's and competitors alike. But as with every else in life, we have to take it "on the chin," and let's face it, Australian Speedway and Sprintcar Racing in particular, could have been without an Archerfield AND a brand new venue, on some of the World's most beautiful spots, the Central Queensland Coast. And you can't XXXX with that, Cairns ya'? 🤣 🍺
Always good to see this sport staying strong. I wonder how many US drivers will make it to the Easter show. Regardless of that its great to see the passion alive.
Looks an awesome new track. Aussie sprintcar racing will look very different in a few years with Gladstone, Boardertown and Wagga all on the national scene.
To be fair, the old track had its best days in the late 80’s and early 90’s before noise complaints stopped racing there almost altogether (from what I heard years ago). The new track is a million times better though.
Congratulations to everyone involved with the new track, it looks amazing, will the Easter event at Gladstone clash with the Sprintcar Easter Trail or is it part of it?
Now theres some legends of the sport Gary Rush, Max Dumsney,...i remember as a red we kid sitting on the hill on the Warnnambool side at Premier during the Easter Trail watching them and oldman tattnel, Brett Lacey and my favourite Billy Barrows in the sponsered Pizza Hut Machine. The were great times back then. The winner of the B Main would get a small trophy, back spot of the A main final and a pair of Sheep Skin Car Covers...now thats racing...hah. Cheers and keep up the great content Paul from Beaconsfield.
Yeah I wish I could say I had a legend like Gary Rush just call me up, out of the blue, and I ALSO wish I had the same answer for him, as Toby gave him "aw yeah mate, just going up to Gladstone, Queensland to check out the new track for Sprintcar Hub, eh"!! Even I live to be a thousand years old, I don't think I'll ever get to say ANYTHING even APPROACHING that COOL would ever happen to me!! Oh well, one can but dream ... Some "dude named Gary Rush" ... no respect blah blah blah blah ...
Production Suggestions - Add drivers location to text overlay, viewers take more notice, get behind someone from their local area, or State (State of Origin). Improve Audio - Switch between voice/music levels is all over the place. Lavalier mic for yourself (interviewer), so we can hear Q when hand held is focused on driver.
Nsw Toby with a joke that's how u waste hard working people's money should be the Mecker of world an aus speedway the best sport an the cheapest for the fans thanks to the teams an drivers for the show they put on. the hub
Some guy named Gary Rush? The greatest Australian sprint car driver of all time, a true god of the dirt circle. Even in his 50s he was still thrashing the competition and that was the likes of a young Brooke Tatnell, Skip Jackson, Robbie Farr. pretty much every legend of the sport has been dominated by Gary at some point. In short I'm super jealous
Would be good but just don't get the government involved perfect example is Sydney as to why not make sure it's speedway people involved if building a new track
@@craigturner497 100%! They well & truly ruined the excitement of that speedway opening! They would of done some dodgy deals with the insane build costs & only to cost more to fix…🤦🏻♂️
It’s QLD Raceway or nothing. QLD Labor govt aren’t interested at all as they believe it has a negative environmental impact. I’ve spoken with LNP members & they aren’t interested either.
That looks so good, living in NSW and seeing and hearing why is happening at Eastern Creek and wasted funds the govt spent it’s a real shame. @nswgovt please sort your shit out, handover to a consortium to run, land tax that is affordable and fix the bloody mistakes you’ve caused. Can we get a petition started for Eastern Creek before it’s forgotten.
So Australia has TWO new tracks? Looks like this one is actually functioning. So why is it this one got built without issues? That old track looked awful! A circle? The replacement track looks so much better. If you needed to take 2 planes to get there, how to the drivers get their haulers there? Or are they all local?
Most tracks in Australia predate winged 410 sprints. We did not even sanction 410's until the late 90s, prior to that we had 360s and a mix of 305s and midgets Speedway bikes were also a huge sport until the 1980s. So the small bullring tracks were more than enough for those classes.
Just keep any state government out of it. They will do their very best to destroy this wonderful track. Take a look at the "new" track in Sydney. 100 million for nothing. It's amazing how bureaucrats try their best to destroy anything that brings communities together.
I've been in gladdy my whole life the town is shit it'd dead nothing fun to do when we heard about the speedway track we were excited, the one in town only runs for the shows and that is like monster trucks and shit, but that smart for then to build it on joho
Sorry I sent when I wasn't finished but it's good they built it on jono porter dr which it's like a whole motor sport road down the end of the rod we got drags then up in the overfol carpark u got a place u can learn the skid then across from that it's the motocross track but they named it after a pro motor cross rider that died in brissy at a show on this bike
Well done Toby, you guys knocked out another great video. Congrats to Bob and the team. Awesome facility. See you at Easter
Dear NSW government - this track was built for about 4 million dollars - You spent 100 million on a track that is non functioning?
Just add that to the list of things they have no idea about lol
You must have read my mind Glen
To the NSW Government...PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!!!!!

Man, such a big difference in support for dirt racing between Australia and America, hats off to you guys
Great video. Fantastic look at a great new facility. When most tracks are closing down its awesome to see a new one just starting out.
excellent effort by all concerned in Gladstone and you and those that help you with your reporting and presentation. Keep up the good work
Very exciting indeed, what a great facility. I can’t wait to get up there and take a look. Thanks Toby for this, you are amazing at what you do.
Just added Gladstone to my Must Go list thanks to you mate. Keep up the good work Toby
What an amazing video. So professional. So enthusiastic. So full of useful information. Well done.

13:09 a lot of the crowd left after the fireworks, in my area about half were gone before the feature. More room for us
This should even further embarass the 'project team' behind the mess that is Eastern Creek Speedway. Looks amazing. Looking forward to visiting.
Looks real good. It’s kinda shaped like a track in south east Wisconsin. And ya. In the USA.
Will be in Gladstone next Easter. Can’t wait.
Can’t wait for my 2025 trip to Australia to check some down under racing action. Sounds like I need to plan on catching the Easter tour.
It's great for the community as the old speedway turned into caravan parking. the move out to the benaraby motorcomplex was a great move

Great effort.Only question is with the Easter race a lot of teams will stick to the traditional Easter Trail
The way it is set up if I was racing there (I am in the USA) I would call it the egg.

Looks awesome.

Where’s the new track for south east Qld as a replacement for Archerfield?

Gladstone speedway track looks fantastic nsw government should build a track we're you can get public transport to it not out in the stick
"Some guy named Gary Rush" I hope you were being a little sarcastic there. He only won the Australian sprint car championship 10 times 😶
Definitely sarcasm
"This guy named "Garry Rush". I'm in the USA and know EXACTLY who Garry Rush is. C'mon!

great track, its sad that sydney got stuffed up so bad
Ye Ha!
Cool, can't wait for some Yanks to to go Down Under and try it out!
I know that kid eating ice cream in Messi kit
why is australia fascinated with slow flat tracks?

Peter Hickman's twin brother?
Where is the new track at bud ? Would be good if you told us just a thought.
This comment isn't serious is it?
Down a windy road
Did you even watch the vid?
Seriously 😂
Thought it was windy road thanks @shmick4203
