Thanks for these uploads. Terje Rypdal and Jack DeJohnette were huge influences in my musical upbringing, direction, & education. Of course Victor Bailey's fantastic as well, but wasn't around in my initial and formative years. Thanks again for uploading this great concert.
Billy Cobham's work here wasn't a solo, it was a piece of music in four movements, by the time he made it to the coda, he had taken us through the complete tonality of his drumkit whether we knew it or not ... three differently tuned snare drums, three bass drums and toms tuned beautifully ... chords (via his amazing "quadragrip"), texture, melody, musicality, polyrhythms polymetres ... phew i need to lay down, many thanks for posting this, by the way Rypdal and Bailey weren't bad either!!! :)
The terrific Michael Mann/Al Pacino/Robert DeNiro film "HEAT" IS using Terje's immense guitar talents, is it not? If it isn't, he still deserves a credit because it is completely HIS sound and emotion. But, as intrinsic as his "small" guitar contributions to the movie are, I don't think he received any WELL-DESERVED mention in the end credits, though he certainly should have.
Dynamic art...electric guitar, bass and drums...as can sometimes be heard. Four sticks mallet technique on the toms...African. Still don't know if there's any particular Rypdal album to suit my tastes, though. The trio with deJohnette/Vitous is the only one I ever remember listening to in its entirety...but I haven't heard many others
drum solo in IV movements, meh. Tedious, & u don't need to be a drummer to hear the technical inaccuracies. Phew, I think I need a lie down to recover.
Terje Rypdal is a phenomenal guitarist! The whole group is brilliant!
Thanks for uploading! The first movement (The Prayer) is pure genius.

A 26 year younger Billy C!....Victor and Terje look so young too...:)...Trio of Doom 2
Dude, That's because he is Mr. Billy Cobham
Beautiful opening couple minutes! Cobham's solo doesn't really do it for me, though . . .
The drum solo was interesting in the beginning. But 12 entire minutes? Dude, are you serious?
Not feeling the high high hat. Strange.
absolutely nonsense! black and white music and philosophy
