Hi Allen. Thanks for the video. A couple of questions How old is the pool surface in the video? It seems this pool had extreme scale with possible hi SI. You briefly mention balance of water the water swings over time. Did this pool have extreme swings or is most of the etching from age? Thanks
IME home owners always neglect to test the cyanuric acid or realize the effect it has on water chemistry. Meaning the water is actually aggressive when they think it's in balance.
I had Bogner Pools, out of Riverside Ca., build my pool in 2000. (Very good job) In about 2008 I noticed my city water had a LOT of rust and, what a city water worker called "Ferrous", in it, used to coagulate water impurities for filtering. I have pictures of my whole-house and pool filter elements filled with what looks like pure rust, dark brownish orange. I grew up with a pool so I take care of my own. I completely understand the plumbing system as I'm a plumbing contractor. But I do not know the effects of these various water impurities have on my pool surface. Can you help me?
This Message from Alan Smith Sounds like Iron stains. Usually from well water but not always. A good stain prevention after a lite acid wash should take care of the problem.
Could the plaster be done wrong in a new pool, or is it the ph

@Averageskill -- Do you know if Bogner Pools services Palm Springs? I need help!
Does low calcium cause this?
Yes. But not the only thing. In the video he says aggressive water. That could be many different factors including low calcium.
Always use a bobby sock when filling your pool after a remodel
I guess the calcium on the tile doesn’t have anything to do with that .
