    You are completely wrong. Nodules are from inside the wall and its pushing through from the inside to the pool. It's called efflorescene. Ive been doing pools for 23 years. People get screwed by pool builders not compacting the shotcrete dense enough. You have to shoot it on with at least 400 psi pressure so water doesn't seep through the porious concrete. You can even see examples of this at any Wendy's restaurant that has the tiled outside walls. The tiles aren't under water but every restaurant I've seen has white calcium running down the grout lines. The reason you see the lines in pools is from microscopic cracks...thats where the water pushes through. Only way to fix is to stop the intrusion of water from cracks in pool deck and use a good water proof application on existing plaster before you replaster the pool. I could talk for hours on this subject because I've spent half my life, building, maintaining tens of thousands of pools. I wish you wouldn't spread misinformation to unknowing pool owners.

      Another thing....all plaster will etch with time. Ask any "real" plaster guy if you are in the business yourself and they will tell you 7 years is the warranty on plaster. Ask any homeowner and they've been told pools will last 20 years....they think plasters going to look brand new for the full 20 years when depending on the proper maintenance it will realistically last 5 years before etching...then get worse from there.

    So low total alkalinity, high calcium hardness and high stabilizer is the main cause? I always thought it was due to having a newly plastered pool sit out in the hot sun for too long before filling up completely, causing cracks in the plaster.

  • @Jasheon
    @Jasheon 4 года назад

    Bullshit, calcium nodules and water chemistry has nothing to do with 1 another. Calcium nodules come from allowing the plaster to sit dry for too long in the hot or direct sun light

    • @pkushdreamer
      @pkushdreamer 4 года назад

      Yes Bull shit. Water chemistry has nothing to do with it. I guess this video is designed to cover the asses of the people for poor installation of the plaster and the pool builders and then pass the buck to the service company.

    Hi Allen. Thanks for the video. A couple of questions How old is the pool surface in the video? It seems this pool had extreme scale with possible hi SI. You briefly mention balance of water the water swings over time. Did this pool have extreme swings or is most of the etching from age? Thanks

    • @mattmatt222333
      @mattmatt222333 2 года назад

      IME home owners always neglect to test the cyanuric acid or realize the effect it has on water chemistry. Meaning the water is actually aggressive when they think it's in balance.

    I had Bogner Pools, out of Riverside Ca., build my pool in 2000. (Very good job) In about 2008 I noticed my city water had a LOT of rust and, what a city water worker called "Ferrous", in it, used to coagulate water impurities for filtering. I have pictures of my whole-house and pool filter elements filled with what looks like pure rust, dark brownish orange. I grew up with a pool so I take care of my own. I completely understand the plumbing system as I'm a plumbing contractor. But I do not know the effects of these various water impurities have on my pool surface. Can you help me?
