  • I just finished drilling 24 post holes with the Ryobi battery-powered auger. Is it worth it?

    Spot on review, I found the same issue! And, for smaller folks like myself, it is a bit on the heavy side.

      Yes, I probably should have mentioned that....especially after the 10th hole or so!

    I like woodworking and have several Ryobi tools and they are pretty good. Better than I thought they would be. Anyway, subscribed to your channel to support a fellow Alaskan. (That auger wouldn’t work on my property which seems to be half rock and half soil).

      I have a battery-operated weed eater that is Ryobi and I am happy with it. I also have a Ryobi fan that I keep in my camping trailer. I sold that auger right after I built the fence. Thanks for the support.

    Ahh, installing fences. One of those jobs that by the end of the day you'd wish you should have just hired it out, lol.

    Thanks for the review.
    I just picked up an EGO, same basic machine. It's too powerful for me, it really rips you around, even with the smallest battery, I thought the anti-kickback would work better. I have very rocky soil (hardpan). I don't recommend getting one of these, my thigh still hurts from being smacked!

      I agree, sold mine after 24 holes. Don't plan on digging that many again without a skidsteer!

      Ha, it did take me 3 days to dig 24. Should have rented a tractor.

    If you’ve got rocks a power auger is not your friend for post holes. There isn’t a hand auger on the market that would be better in this situation.

    $500.00 for this? Wow, at that price, it should turn those rocks into powder. LOL

    Is the auger seriously for sale? If so, what are you selling for?

      I sold it right after I finished my fence.

    How long did the battery last?

    • @AlaskaWorkshop
      @AlaskaWorkshop  Год назад +2

      Lasted about 5 or six holes. I have a second battery so it could outlast me for sure.

    Skidsteers are not a fair comparison. Any auger will have these issues.

      True, if you don't want to beat yourself up ditch the handheld augers
