Jade just a few tips if you go to the hawkesbury river try to pick the smaller tides and be careful with those dreaded catfish you catch alot around the 3 bridges especially if the water is a bit dirty and fish the slacker period of the tides high or low. Good luck hope to catch up with you on the water.

mate the fish is a southern conger eel , sand or pikey eels are a different fish , we get them in the harbour most of the time when fishing for jew during the night, they get a lot bigger up to 20kg not that we ever see them that big , aqain a bucket of yabbies and/or squirt worms would have made a huge difference there , live prawns is another gun bait for the hawkesbury.

Why don’t you use your boat I wouldn’t even bother going land based hawsbury most holes are on the bends of the river as big rains wash out on the corners of the river I highly suggest fishing the river and stay over night on the boat it truly is a beautiful river but can be very intimidating on spots to fish as the river is massive takes a bit to learn

Nice sesh.ive fished that beach early mornings on light gear and bit of burley pellets thrown out.a golfball size float and starlight just above it for some big bream.better towards april/may.
Its a productive river in a boat if you know how and where, caught many big flatties in there and a few gd jew as well.stonker bream by the bucket full.
