I've been wanting to go to this...I'm in Ringgold and I have always heard about this.I have a mild obsession with trains and tunnels...Another cool tunnel with a crazy story. I lived in Richmond in Church Hill and the Church Hill Tunnel was right beneath me I'd walk by the closed up entrance everyday I walked down the hill to work....Also Nashville's underground tunnels that were used during prohibition. Every building downtown that is over 100 years old has an entrance to the tunnels in the basements
We visited while you were filming. We didn't bring water boots but it was neat to see your lights in the tunnel for some perspective on depth. Thanks for the video!
Oh yeah, I remember seeing yall back at the entrance of the tunnel while we were filming! That’s so cool that you found this video. Thanks for watching 💯👍
Love the history lesson on the line and the video, are there any plans on making the tunnel more accessible? Hope it gets preserved somehow. You rocked it on sharing this with us.😎👍
I’m not sure if there are any plans on officially preserving the tunnel. For now, it’s just there, decaying. I appreciate your kind words and thanks for watching 💯👍
@@southernappalachianrecon thank you and you welcome, it really is a great vid. Love those old tunnels, so much history surrounding them. You got me lol, I'm a new subscriber.😎👍
The rattler was cool. I just discovered the tunnel on Google map. I'll be in that area and will probably go see I I can find it. I did hear it was becoming a bit dangerous now, with the falling chunks and brick, so I'll only take a peek inside from a safe distance.
I hope the DNR can do something about the runoff coming down on top of the north portal - last time I visited (May '23) I noticed that huge chunk of brick & mortar had fallen from the top right.
super cool! ive lived in Walker County my whole life and never knew. Have you ever heard of the old rossville underground railway? ive been researching where to find the entrance and came to ur video! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to checking the spot out!
Are you talking about the historic Western & Atlantic railroad tunnel in Tunnel Hill, GA? I’ve never heard of one in Rossvill but it wouldn’t surprise me. There is a lot of railroad history in and around Chattanooga! Thanks for watching 💯🤙
@@southernappalachianrecon Some of the things i’ve read have been referencing Tunnel Hill but there’s apparently some stuff off mission ridge road/macfarland avenue! i found some old maps online. there’s apparently old railway tunnels that don’t line up to modern streets. they may be closed by now but i’ve been looking into them recently! i suspected the rossville rock quarry to be a way in but no maps reinforced the idea.

Yes there is, tons of history! Thanks for watching 💯👍
Thank you so much for posting your travels. I just found your channel and can't wait to replicate some of these drives and hikes with my boys.

I'm not sure where the tunnel ends in Rossville, but the entrance is in Mexico.

Yeah, I’ve thought about getting some waders for things like this, still haven’t broken down and bought any yet. Thanks for watching 💯👍
