I would love to see you do some houseplant home makeovers! It would be really interesting and educational to see you help someone assess their home, choose suitable plants, move and restyle plants they already have etc. It doesn’t even have to be someone’s entire home or an entire room - a corner or a windowsill could be just as enjoyable.
Spending time outside the apartment and helping others might also help you feel better💛 Having such a flexible job can be really tough, so maybe creating outside accountability of some sort could be helpful.
    Take care!🌿

I relate quite a lot to your experiences with the apartment issues. I've been moving a lot in the past 2 years for one reason or another and one of the houses I rented with my roomies was a disaster with constant water issues and very little help from the property management. The whole ordeal made me exhausted and quite frankly depressed. I'm still recovering from it. Your story sounds so similar I wonder if it's the same PM company... Anyway, I hope your apartment issues become better and you start feeling better soon. Hang in there! Don't hesitate to contact local authorities either, lots of tenants don't know their rights.

Alright here's random video ideas that might be bad, but might spark a better idea in somebody elses head:
    - best plants to leave in your old apartment for two weeks while you're moving
    - 5 plants with funky shapes
    - plants that do well in cold spaces (for example rooms without heating in winter)
    - the very first plants you ever cared for
    - why you don't use humidifiers (and what else you do for humidity)
    - trying to clean your windows the best you possibly can (get a super soaker and fill it with green soap and water maybe??)
    - your favorite hoya's / peperomia's
    - your favorite place to get plants from
    - do a plant trade and make a video about it
    - if there is a farmers market near you with plants, film there
    - interview your friends about what they think of you having 34534534 houseplants
    - tell us about a plant you actually hate but still keep
    - honestly make a nice cocktail, I want that recipe :)

Take care of yourself, you've been through a big move and now all the problems with the new place - and realizing you'll have to move again! The darker days of winter don't help either. Take the time you need, and don't drink too much (It's depressant, I say as I pour a glass of wine). For video ideas, can you give a tour of a plant store maybe? Middle of the day so you get fresh air and sunshine! ☮☮

Nick, I really have missed your videos! I absolutely think you should be making a bigger deal out of your situation, especially since there have been problems for two months with no solutions. Have you researched Pennsylvania Landlord-Tenant Laws? You should be able to file with your municipal Clerk of Courts to pay your monthly rent into a rental escrow account, especially if you have given written notice to the landlord of all the problems and you are current in your rent payments. Laws vary from state to state, but you are not without rights, wherever you live. Acquiring this information is pretty easy on the internet. You may also have a fair housing organization in your area that can give you solid info and advice for your location. A proactive approach may empower you, place you in the mindset to make more content because, by your own admission, the lack of motivation is affecting your bottom line; the ability to create content to make a living. Also, don't let this experience prevent you from buying a home in the future. Being a homeowner is a much different experience than being a renter. Please forgive me for the unsolicited advice, its just tough watching your struggle. Maybe an idea for content could be "things to consider when condensing your plant collection", like how to decide the plants to keep and what to re-home, maybe like a "Marie Kondo" method for plants.

If you don't have thousands of dollars saved for an emergency, motivation to do all the maintenance, endless patience and ability to complete projects, either money for repairs or the willingness and interest to learn how to DIY. Much of owning a home is stressful and/or infuriatingly tedious. Just counterbalancing your comment. Even if you want to fit a lot of plants but not have clutter having a high shelf filled with plants like a living wall looks better than separate pots here and there. Or grouping them in a corner to create the bush effect etc. I generally don't like the look of small plant scattered everywhere :)

Here’s some ideas for you. You should do a cocktail and feature plant series. Maybe a plant that complements/pairs with the cocktail? Wouldn’t it be cool if you also suggested a meal with them? And, are any tropical plants edible? Like you can garnish with orchids but maybe there are other plants that might have culinary uses that are fun to grow inside. Thinking about my rosemary plant that I bring indoors every winter. Also, could you revisit the ‘taco test’ because I find its close to too late if I wait that long to water some plants. They weaken and lose leaves and don’t grow as well.

Your business doesn't make any sense except in the easy money era we just had, but with inflation, home prices decreasing, monthly payments more than rent, you are about to get a taste of reality. If you have your own single water heater for your unit, it could be several things. First, a plumber deals with them. An electric water heater could have a thermostat set too low, a broken dip tube, a burned out lower heating element, a bad thermostat, or a bunch of sediment buildup that's covering the bottom element and also reducing the tank's capacity. If it's a gas heater, you could have a broken dip tube, a bad thermostat, or a bunch of sediment buildup. Your shower valve may also have a problem. First, it could have an anti-scalding device that shuts off the hot water at the valve to prevent you from being burned. Finally, your other plumbing could be bypassing cold water into the hot water line if the hot and cold are joined together at some point or if a single lever valve has failed such as a kitchen sink or bathroom sink valve. My suggestion is to try these things in this order: check the thermostat setting to make sure it's at the right temp. Then test the heating elements if it's electric. If they are good, test the thermostats to make sure they come on at the right temp and sequence. If all that's ok, remove and inspect the dip tube. If that's broken or split, replace it. If that's still ok, check the bottom for excessive sediment. Excessive sediment can often be discovered by hearing loud banging or "bumping" when the heater turns on and begins heating. My bet personally, is on a broken dip tube, a broken lower element, or a bad lower thermostat in that order. You may not be able to do these things, but at least this information can arm you for defending yourself against a crappy plumber who is incompetent or looking to scam you/the landlord instead of fixing the issue for you.

I’m so sorry you are having a hard time with your new apartment. What is the name of the plant.. please spell the name and show the plant up close. The plant that looks like sticks, I thought it was going to be your last plant but I see that it’s not. Two suggestions, Do a show at your friends house and nurseries.

I know I’m like a month late to the party but I wanted to offer a small bit of advice in case you’re still having hot water issues. Fingers crossed it is already fixed but if you’re still having issues with it, you may want to look at the water heater for a temperature dial. I had the same issue when I moved into an apartment and it turns out the temperature was just turned all the way down! Turned it up and had a hot shower that made me cry tears of joy after a week of cold ones. Wishing you all the best and I hope your new apartment is starting to feel like home.

Oh God I can so relate! My landlord is the worst! I have stories you would not believe, we rented a house a year ago and it's like I'm living in a unfinished job site. I have been so stressed my hair is falling out. I even went to a dermatologist searching for answers only to find yeah nothing is wrong with my blood work or hair follicles this has been brought on by stress. My only stress is this house we rented. Total night mare I totally feel for you. It's a shame cause I was really excited for you with the sky lights. It's so horible when your dreams of a new space don't work out.

Ugh I feel this in my soul… I just moved out of an apartment where I put in 37 maintenance request in the 3 years I lived there! I literally counted out every request I made to try and get out of my lease early and they still didn’t do anything. And that doesn’t even include the requests where it took 2-3 times to fix the actual problem 😖 Plants (and your videos) were definitely a huge stress relief! So sorry that you’re having to go through this

Maybe start a video by teaching us a new drink recipe occasionally. And then enjoy it while doing plant care. Also a video on routine plant maintenance might be a possibility, cleaning leaves and removing dead or dying foliage, freshening up soil etc. Thanks for the videos!!

Hi I’ve missed you! I love that philodendron! And I have to say I’ve been worried about you, I really enjoy your videos. You’ve inspired me to try different plants. I live where there are basically just the big box stores to get plants from so you’ve introduced me to the online plant stores and that is really how I have grown my collection. You have also taught me so much about plant care and the different varieties. You asked for ideas. It sounds like you are super frustrated with your place, but I would love a plant tour in your new space! I’d watch you mix drinks too. Maybe plant of the week with drink of the week. LOL. Anyway I’m sorry you’ve been having a terrible time. Its exhausting to have to constantly advocate for yourself and it doesn’t sound like you are getting help. Don’t give up and make sure you are documenting every single thing. Lastly, don’t give up on home ownership. When I was your age I thought the same thing that I didn’t want to deal but owning is power and is one of the best ways to create stability and grow wealth.
Hang in there - this too shall pass.

    Hi Nick!
Regarding the heat in the shower, I dealt with the exact same thing. Chances are one of the heating elements in the water heater has blown out and that element needs to be replaced. Hopefully they can fix it soon! Take care!

I suspect it's a broken dip tube, followed by a broken lower element (if electric) or a bad thermostat (specifically lower if electric). Could also be excessive sediment on the bottom insulating the gas burner or lower element from the water.

I have a friend who found an apartment like yours then had the EXACT same issues + a few other problems that ruined the experience. He could not get anything done out of maintenance even when he discovered his microwave had blown up during the previous tenant’s tenure. On top of that, the unit’s utility bills in winter (skylight and high ceilings) ran about $480 a month. He was stuck there for 18 months, the length of his lease. He vowed to never ever move into an apartment. I truly hope things get better for you. I always watch your videos and though I’ve missed your uploads, I completely understand. Hang in there.

Do you think you would want to make a video figuring out how to hang plants from your skylight... Maybe make a fancy multi-pot holding macrame...
