Love the vibe of your channel! We're pretty similar in terms of wardrobe, general aesthetics, and tech-inclination, it feels absolutely therapeutic when I watch your videos.

i'd love to see videos on:
    - what softwares and programs you use regularly, as well as how you have customized/set up your computers
    - how you produce videos + what camera(s) and software(s) you use

hey, that's a great idea! I have been a little stuck on what I should make next, but these are fantastic ideas I will definitely get into. :)

I laughed so hard at how similar you and I think. Our set ups are quite different, but the focus on minimalism made me very happy. I love your keyboard. I have a Keychron C2 wired, in retro colors to go with my Atari VCS. Reminds me of the IBM Model M keyboards I used to have. Love what you're doing man. You might want to look into some accent lighting, perhaps behind your monitor, or some interesting lamps. A bit dark. Still a lovely workspace. You have me thinking about finally getting a proper desk now. You ever consider using a full size TV as a monitor? My 55" OLED is a glorious monitor, especially for video production. Just have to sit back a bit farther. So glad to see you building and tinkering man. Take care!

I don't know what his reasons were, but the general problem with TVs as monitors is very high latency which is a no go for anyone wanting to play video games in their free time.

@@Kulei666 People have been playing video games on TVs for decades. LoL. Depends on the TV, the gaming style, and the person as well. Everyone seems so obsessed with super high refresh rates and such these days. Having the best of everything. I've had no problems gaming on my OLED, even when forgetting to put it into game mode. Even my old LCD and plasma TVs from years ago were fine. My games look glorious on that giant 4K OLED panel as well. I'd take that over a monitor for gaming any day.

I don't even remember how I found your channel but I'm glad I did - these videos are so satisfying to watch. Everything is so well done, from the choice of music to the editing and cinematography, and I love the vibe that you're going for! Plus, I'm entering college this fall and want to move towards a more minimalist and productive lifestyle, so I'm finding a lot of things to take away and be inspired by from your content lol
I gotta ask, if it were possible for you to stick with just one of your laptops, which one would you choose? I need to get a laptop myself and I've been struggling a lot with choosing between macOS and Windows/Linux. The build quality and battery life of MacBooks are really something else, but the idea of pretty much giving up gaming entirely (even though I don't even game much right now...) and some other software seems pretty daunting. Since you use both (sounds like a dream setup lol) I imagine you'd have a pretty good idea of the strengths/weaknesses of each and I'm curious to know what your preferences are. Thanks, and I'm really excited to follow this channel and see what kind of videos are coming in the future! :)

Thank you so much! i really appreciate it. :)) I am heavily focusing on content related to minimalism, so I hope you can find those videos useful when they come out!
A few months ago, I sold my Framework and tore down my desktop to build my dream server. With that, I've made the choice to keep the mac hahaha. In my experience, macOS has basically the same level of application support that Windows does (for what I use), with a ton of extra stability alongside fantastic battery life. I really wanted to daily drive Linux on laptop, but I kept coming back to macOS. Gaming support on mac isn't too bad, either! League of Legends, Fall Guys, Minecraft, Terraria, etc. all run extremely well.
If I were you, I would make a list of the software you use regularly, and make sure there's a version built for macOS/Linux. If not, there are plenty of great alternatives depending on the software's utility.
I hope that sort of answers your question, feel free to ask if you'd like me to be more specific about anything! :)

I'll definitely be looking forward to more minimalism-focused stuff! Could definitely use it :p
To be honest, I kind of thought you would've gone with the Framework, so to hear that you just got rid of it entirely was pretty surprising lol. Though at the same time I'm relieved to hear that your experiences with macOS have been pretty good, and (this could just be some sort of confirmation bias) it's making me lean more towards picking up a MacBook. Gaming still seems sketchy to me, although the new game porting toolkit thing in the new macOS seems quite promising. Though I mostly just play games that already have mac ports in the first place lol
Thanks for the advice and the very detailed answer!

Hey! Awesome setup. I am a very different person, in terms of ability to keep the simplicity and purity of my desk and I often envy those who have such amazing setups.
Btw, how is your framework's battery doing? I daily drive m1 air and I don't love the proprietary nature of macos, but the battery life combined with performance is just unreachable.

    • @hundotio
      @hundotio  Год назад

Thank you! I totally hear you on the battery life. In my experience, using Pop_OS! with a 1TB module permanently plugged in, I've found myself getting around 3-4 hours with light work (Firefox, Obsidian, etc.). It's been pretty disappointing, and while I've tried tools like auto-cpufreq, it doesn't seem to make a massive difference. In Windows, I'd say you'd get an extra hour or so, but I haven't worked enough with it to really say.

best content on YT hands down. One Qn though, how do u make those Power Naps work? i find napping hard, my mind just won't shutdown during the day

thank you!! i was the same way for a very long time, but after giving power naps a shot i pretty quickly i saw the value. it took a little bit to figure out that 10-15 minutes is my sweet spot, but it definitely varies for everyone. :)

I feel you. Any sleep shorter than 7 hours makes me feel like I was resurrected from the dead by some necromant, fifty thousand years have passed and both my mental capacity and physical ability feels exactly like if I were that old.

Those kind of videos always make me slightly uncomfortable, being perfecionistic (and minimalistic) myself for many years all I can see now is the struggle and pain that went into optimizing and minimizing everything to the extent that it's not really worth it, both by the sheer pain but also because of the time wasted optimizing. I think you could consider (I would be more interested) making vids more on the how-to to help other folks see the logic and the heuristics you use (depending on the needs), and not just the result, which might be neat and comfy for some, but also won't really inspire or help others. Thanks in advance!
