While I generally discourage folding knives as a primary survival knife, there are certain instances where it may be necessary or unavoidable. In this video I work to out line what those conditions are and what to look for in a proper knife that will serve that role.

I know I mentioned the Buck 110 all the time. The reason this time is when I was 16 years old it was the only knife I had for years. And that folder stood up to the test of time. That was my generation. Fast forward 48 years if I had to rely on a folder it definitely would have to be of good quality. Stay safe.

      Old 110's were excellent

I don't think you can go wrong with a 110, those are solid knives. I used to have one! The only thing I dislike is that they are a bit too big for me.

That short fixblade looks like a caper, a knife for a real guide.
As for the real survival folder: Victorinox Trekker, non serrated!
    The only way to go!

This auto Adamas looks solid. I would definitely choose this auto version over the non-assisted folding adamas. DBK has done videos on both the non-assisted folding adamas and their Benchmade M4 Freek. The lock on their folding adamas did not stand up to the abuse. The lock failed multiple times allowing the blade to close. The lock on the freek held up nicely. This is supposed to be the same locking mechanism but it seems benchmade has allowed the lock to be less secure in this newer model.

That is certainly disheartening to hear, as my original Adamas was a tank! Howere, yes this Auto Adamas shouldn't fail because in addition to having the lock keeping it in place it also has a very stout spring driving it.

I think the Gerber Auto 06 is a very good survival folding knife. Also made in America.

i think the adamas and the cold steel american lawman r best edc/bushcraft/survival/tactical folding knives. a para 3 fully serrated as well but it has more specialised uses
