Old Video, New Physics: Pickup Destruction Simulation Dev Reel
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 янв 2022
- This is not GTA 6 but a development reel for a complex car simulation made in Blender. The model is based on the actual construction design FEM model (LS-DYNA) of that car and it is simulated with the Bullet Constraints Builder (BCB) + Fracture Modifier (FM) physics tools.
The BCB is a structural simulation software developed for building collapse simulations and this is the first time it is used to simulate a vehicle. The goal is to make vehicle simulations more realistic by using real world parameters and by simulating every piece of the car physically.
Having said that and before you ask, this is not a game. Perhaps GTA X will support this in 20 years but current hardware is not there yet, sorry. :)
Some stats for nerds:
Car - 1.8m triangles in 3k elements connected with 100k constraints
Simulation time - 8 sec. per frame (32 min. per 10 sec. simulation time)
Render time - It's just OpenGL, 1 sec. per frame

Very nice.

it would be great greetings from Mexico

although beamng is more realistic, i love how large parts of the car can tear into smaller pieces and not just stretch
And BeamNG does it in real time. This is pre-rendered.
Yep for me only thing that beamng needs is this simulation of things getting cut in pieces
No, beamg have bugs
@@luiscamilop.h6429 You're a bug
BeamNG do need this
It hits different when you've been doing the same thing in BeamNG for years.
Looks better than Beaming!!!
Yeah, came here to say the same thing. The fan bit was really cool, though.

@@I_will_like_to_keep_my_dad nah its about similar tbh
Although BeamNG is overall more realistic, this has the one thing that BeamNG is lacking... the ability for every part to break into many separate parts. I get that this is a rendering, and BeamNG is real time, but I feel like they could have parts break into at least 2 or 3 pieces.
they’re slowly figuring it out. i remember when wheels were attached to the vehicle no matter what, the body couldn’t come off. it used to be all attached. now all that stuff happens and with the new bolide it breaks the frame in three pieces.
Having read cursed myself and your mom😒
Liked freeing yourself😅.
Subscribed to me😃.
Freed mom😛.
Considering this is an animation, for beamng to simulate all those parts it would be a pain in the ass. Thats why automation mods run worse on low end pc's.
Actually it is possible to have that in beamng. the beamng desert racing series trucks have fiberglass panels which break in a very similar way as seen here. so id say it is possible but not implemented in any of the vanella vehicles yet as far as i know. i'm sure when the game is finished it will have similar mechanics in vanella vehicles.
@@reconsoundproduction Maybe. But I believe its more possible to implement airbags rather than realistically detaching parts.
God, has it really been 10 years? Back when I subbed you guys were KaiKostack
I was a early sub
Hello
Its crazy when there's already a game like this that does everything in the video but in real time.
What's the game
@@Scp_Guard5561 BeamNG Drive
Beamng is close, but it's only really soft body simulation with good graphics and handling. You can't dent the cars and the pieces stay intact.
@@jwalster9412 you can
@@terdik36 not small dents.
This is just 10% of the final beamng drive
No way i binge watched so many of these kind of video's when i was hyped and starved for beamng content. This one really stuck with me. Grand to see it remastered.
I remember watching this video when I was 5. Now I’m 14!
This looks a bit weird actually. Cars typically bend and crush from impact, not tear and crumble.
I was thinking the same thing
Looks like a car made out of styrofoam or something that snaps equally as easily
I was going to comment the same thing
Beamng kids...
@@enegort2228 its a critique, and it looks far from perfect cause the damage model literally crumbles into piecies at slow impact, BeamNG is better, although this is decent because the damage is detailed but both still needs perfection and work though.
@@enegort2228 when I got plowed into in my pickup it didn’t tear like paper, tbe bumper gave way and the hood collapsed.
This mixed with beamng drive would be incredible with the beamng's flexibility and this kind of breaking apart thing
Yeah only downside is it would take like 4 hours to watch a crash happen
@@CoralDrake would take a whole day for me with my potato PC
Ikr it'd be amazing(ly laggy lol)
Well, BeamNG actually simulates quite all you see here. Flexible Body damage, breaking plastic bumpers (with the new cars), breaking off parts kinda stuff, chassis flex, suspension flex and damage, all this kinda stuff.
I agree, though I feel some of the breaking is a little much. For instance, rolling down the hill and losing the roof. The cutting of the fan blades is reasonable, but the rolling, not so much.
From what I´m seeing only thing missing is some sort of elasticity, which already may be there but still. Maybe letting metals stretch a bit before breaking, instead of instantly crumbling would give a better result since metals are pretty malleable. That is why BeamNG probably looks better, because it not ripping apart is more expected than fully crumbling.
Other than that, this is amazing, and a great step forward!
Was looking for this comment! The suspension doesn't seem to work, it looks like the tires took over that job. The dissipation of the collision energy isn't worked into the models, like you said due to the lack of bendiness things break and feel like an crusty apple pie. But it looks like a really tough job to implement such features though. Only if your PC lets you make those calculations is that... They're getting there, can't wait to be able to play around with these physics in big games.
@@whatarewedoinghere42 the funny thing is the car in the simulation is made out of 1.8 mil triangles, while beamng cars are made out of less than 1k triangles (jbeam structure)☠️
Fjr
@nightghost6394 makes sense since this isn't supposed to be a game, but a demonstration
It's the first time I'm ever watching this video and two things are for sure: first, with the obvious exception of the great technological advancements in the meantime - shown here for the crash model -, this video doesn't at all show its 10 years of age (as some comments have already pointed out 😋) and second, if I'd watched this video back then for the first time, I'd sure as heck want to see a car simulator based on such a rendering. And now, 10 years later, there is one (and only one) car sim: BeamNG drive! 💗
This video is just amazing! Blender truly pioneered the way for detailed building and destruction of things! 😎🤘💗
This comment probably makes beamng want to buy him more

I remember the old times when I watched you nowadays this graphics are so good!
If beamng had these physics I would be SO AMAZED
@JM Production I think he means the ripping part but other than that yes beamNG does basically have this
Nice!
Looks really good, keep up the work on the car simulation !
If it was a game it’s gonna be cool
Amazing Simulation... Great job!
Definite improvement! Good job.
last time we had a demo like this beamng showed up. Im exited for what's next
I like that the first line is
'this is not gta 6'
I guess bc of beamng first video. Love this
Looks very cool and was satisfying to see for me! Thanks for sharing
No matter how old your videos are. It is nostalgic but better than beamng drive and teardown
Not better, just an animation
I still remember watching your video on my mom’s iPhone 4 when I was a kid, wow I feel much older now lol
The answer to nobody's question. This video is awesome!
I hope there's physics like this on GTA 6
What is your problem?
@@madl1on_rl177 idk, what is your problem?
One thing I think beam ng lacks is particals cause if you see a wreck in real life there is a lot of what looks like particals around the wreck if beam ng would add that that would be awesome note: I can see why they wouldn’t becuase it might add a lot of lag
Also fluids too, IRL you will always see oil, coolant, tran fluid and gas leaking out after a wreck
@@benjaminsnell3393 yes that would be too but as you may or may not know it probably would lag a game out really bad
@@benjaminsnell3393 actually you can break the gaz tank so fuel comes out and eventually bursts into flames. it's not 100% accurate but a good start
Wreckfest does that, but it also is much more exaggerated with its damage than Beamng.
and your graphics card will be burning
One thing that I would make different is that the vehicle breaks like butter in a grinder less realistic but if you made everything alittle more tough then it would work alot better but still looks amazing
couldnt get any better than this
Wow! this is amazing except for the fact that it falls apart like metal Legos. Or I guess I've been playing BeamNG too long...
1:25 why is this so satisfying?
0:40 is more satysfing
This looks awesome but I think rather than it breaking into smaller pieces like foam it should stretch and tear like real metal other than that great job
I like the fact that the cars are basically made out of paper
I think to a certain extent the little crumble and breaking physics should be added to BeamNG at least on smaller parts like rubber, plastics glass, and other certain parts that aren't the unibody that are meant to break into little pieces.
this will probably melt your PC

I've never seen a more soft body rigid body in my life
RUclips decided to put this video in my home feed, and I couldn't help but to think of those truck drivers who 'roll coal' on people who drive EVs.
Beaming drive needs this
Beamng drive deformation is way more realistic
Be cool if that could be turned in to it's own game lol or even a game on Android but that probably won't happen lol
Good luck with that because just saying no android or any phone can hand that. But if you want a game like this then BeamNG.drive is something you may like
finaly. its here. better destruction phisic
this right here might be beamng's future ! lots of debris and more destruction modeling, wich would make for better vehicle simulation around the track as well ! :D
awesome video man
Really cool video, amazing how you managed to make the physics so incredibly detailed. But one question
Why the Silverado?
I dunno about you, but I wouldn't want to be in my old Ram if I had to drive over a giant truck eating propeller. X3
