I've taken belly dance for almost 8 years, and my teacher never informed us of different shimmys. Your channel is teaching me so much to help improve my dance! Ty!
I love the way you explain these moves as so many people do not really understand them correctly! When I learned to shimmy, the terminology "triplet shimmy" was never used at all. It was either a "bicycle shimmy" or a 3/4 on the up/down.
Отличный мастер класс! Буду тренироваться! Спасибо за ясность и наглядности! И мне так нравится ваш зал! Атмосфера Востока передана тонко!вы красавица!
Decades ago, Jamila Salimpour taught the "three-quarter" shimmy as being in waltz time or 6/8. I had only ever seen a "three-quarter" shimmy take 4 counts (with the pause or hold on 4) on variations of the Hagallah. Now it seems the "three-quarter" shimmy is taught in 4/4 time, with a pause/hold on all variations.
I learned a way that no one else has described I think it came from Delilah in Oregon . There is a huge difference to 3/4 shimmy and double shimmy when done this way. For 3/4 shimmy on the down, it went this way- weight is on the left hip and stays in the left as right hip drops down on count (1), then weight shifts from the left hip to right hip( which brings r hip up) this is count (&) then with weight now in right side the third hip movement then comes from the non weighted left hip Which does a hip lift this is count (2) and that action brings weighted r hip down. So right hip went down, up, down with weight shift in the middle. Training technique right side (drop) right hip. (Shift) weight into to right hip. (Lift) raise non weighted left hip Left side (Drop) left hip. (Shift) weight into to left hip. (Lift) lift non weighted r hip up. Counts for left and right 1&23&4 I would be interested to know if anyone else does it this way❤
I love love love your content as well as your online classes I currently have the shimmy drill, drill deep, and killer driller. I loveee them keep doing the lords work for women
It's a challenge for sure. Take it as slow as you need to in order to do it cleanly. Try to practice without music so you are not tempted to go too fast. Use the ground to create that first hip lift and try not to tense up so you can allow the hips to rebound to help with the second lift. I hope this helps!
@@SahiraBellydances yes. I think this will help. I didn't think of using the ground or a rebound. I use to do ballet 34 years ago. I love belly dancing now. I just want to experience in my body how each movement is correctly executed, but it's hard to know if you got it right when you're alone. There are no classes anywhere near me. Thanks so much.
Sorry, but I compared both videos and I couldn't find a difference. I've been teaching belly dance for over 20 years now so I'm familiar with Oriental dance. A lady (see link below) explains the Moroccan shimmy in a different way. It makes sense to me because I have been to Moroccan parties in Europe and I have seen their hip movements. Please let me know what you think: ruclips.net/video/TAZQ_yjgMHw/видео.html
Is it normal for one leg to not want to cooperate when you try to travel with this? I feel like my left leg just won't do the movement so I get stuck trying to move.
I’d say it’s definitely normal for your body to not always cooperate w certain movements especially if it’s movement that your body may not be used to yet. I sure hope you can get unstuck 😅

Super helpful breakdown!! I've never seen it explained this way but makes total sense and I can visually see the differences now!
Thank you so much!
Excellent! You’re so welcome.
I love how you break it down! 3/4. Shimmy now makes sense. GOD BLESS MUCH LOVE

If you’re ever in Houston feel free to drop by the studio so we can play with this.
Thnx so much sahira you explain the moves very well.❤️❤️❤️
You’re so welcome.
Really good clear instruction! Beautiful! Thank you.
You’re so welcome.
This is so much easier than when I learnt the 3/4 shimmy and it looks an easier way to teach students. I hadn't heard of the triplet shimmy before
Glad it was helpful!

What exactly is the difference between this 3/4 shimmy and the moroccan shimmy? I am confused :0
They are the same 😊
Any tips on this. I'm really struggling to speed this up.

what is the song you are using in this tutorial?
Thanks for asking. The music is by the talented Lauren Checcio, here’s a link if you’d like to purchase her music laurenchecchio.bandcamp.com/releases
I'm trying to copy you right now

You are so beautiful..........
