Think because whoever captures and bonds him becomes Tatuk Makto which is what jake is called at the end of 1 and during WoW - the game is also canon so it makes sense that they wouldn’t make it bondable because then they’d have to refer to both as taruk makto

The toruks scientific name is the Leonopteryx Rex, and the stormgliders scientific name is Magnus Teratorn. Though knowing how much of an asshole stormgliders can be, being slotsyalä maktoyu would be pretty impressive too lmao

I feel like not being able to bond with these guys was an absolute mistake and missed opportunity. Maybe not as an active story quest, but being able to have one and switch from a normal Ikran to a storm glider would’ve been a feature that hit close to home for all the ones who saw the ORIGINAL avatar in theaters.
Na’vi can bond with stormgliders, it Judy’s takes a very special bond like with the Toruk… there’s multiple DLCS announced, one focusing on Aerial combat… so hopefully we can see something there
But the thing is, our character lives in the same time as Avatar 1 and 2, and Toruk is known to only take 1 rider in it's lifetime. So even if we did run into one (which is highly unlikely with how rare they are) it might only be Jake's 😅. I think it'd be pretty epic to just be able to ride a Stormglider or especially a Thanator!
@@dezzybarrieYeah I don’t remember hearing that either. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the creatures you can only bond to in the case of emergencies for Pandora. Similarly to how Neytiri was able to briefly bond with a Thanator so that she could fight for Eywa.

I had trouble fighting these things in the air, but not by killing one, but by trying to find its body to loot when it falls. They sometimes either disappear or they clip into things, or you just can't find them. That is until I found out you can fight them on the ground once you get their attention, and it's also way easier to line up a shot for a clean kill.
This is isn’t a Toruk tho… It’s a Storm Glider which just slightly bigger than a normal Ikran plus the head is distinctively different since they are a different species. The Toruk’s head shape actually prevents it from looking up without tilting it’s head because it’s like their eyes are guarded. As for which Storm Gliders don’t have that distinction and the fact that they are indeed smaller than a Toruk.

Sadly toruk is not in the game and the closest animal in the game is the storm glider witch was also shown in the clip but was called toruk I hope this cleared the confusion for you but it might be in the game as a secret boss and tameable mount you get for doing every quest in the game

Thats the stormglider its completely different than the great leonopteryx or Toruk. For instance stormgliders have an 124 ft wingspan as opposed to toruk which has a 90 foot wingspan

Take a Bengal tiger and a Siberian tiger for example, those are both subspecies of tiger (tiger is the species). So the Toruk/Great Leonopteryx and Slotsyal/Stormglider are two entirely different species, perhaps even from completely different genera/families (meaning they're not necessarily all that closely related). These species might be more comparable to irl eagles (Toruk), hawks (Slotsyal) and falcons (Ikran), or perhaps they're all different species of eagle, or maybe two of them are and the other is something else. Regardless, they'd be different species which may or may not be closely related.
They should add stormgliders as a bondable animal to ride since Taruk was technically a different variant of the species much like the different Thanators so no one could be taruk makto except Jake sully but stormglider riders and stormglider bondable mount might actually be a cool addition to the game

I killed it by making it want to fight me on the floor edge of the mountain top, the 2nd layer. It forced it to do a loop over and over in the same place till I killed it. And it wldnt attack even tho I was on my ikran. lol

Game got released pretty early I think there’s more than enough time for them to come out with a dlc that will have the ability for us to tame that great big flying beast!

I don’t know if you know this, but if you don’t the female dragons have no wing patterns and curved horns, while the males have wing patterns and straight horns. Dragon eggs also come from LvL. 4 - 5 dragons.
I maxed out my skills, got the best equipment, and ate a meal that gave me better bow damage. I one shot a storm glider but since it wasn't a weak point hit i got min stat materials
They probably wont let you bond with it because only Jake Sully is someone who can bond with something so legendary. If they make you able to do it, that makes Jake Sully a shoe rack.
And man this game is so damn beautiful I wish more people would give it a try because I think it was one of the best games from last year even though it was slightly repetitive
The thing that bugged me about the film was, seriously, none of the Na'vi had thought to try that? It's the single most common tactic when going after a flighted animal.
Hunting the one over the lake is not advised. It can easily sink out of reach then your effort is for nothing when you can’t loot it. Make sure to fight it over the island or choose one of the adults in the clouded forest.
Plus if u looked at turuk he literally cant look up bc of part of his head has edges covering his eyes so even if he wanted to he cant look up so jake was right

Turuk was a very smart beast sully had amazing timing likely from spying on him In the movies, we never got to see how he tamed the beast and also the banshee in the game is not turuk

Idk, the first game allowed you to just use human vehicles including Dragon gunship. Why do they suddenly limit player? As for Sully's theory, he didn't need to. Eyva would have mind controlled the Toruk to surrender to him anyway. Same as it "Morrowinger-ed" Neytiri into loving him and how it simply commanded all available drones to attack in the climax of both movies. It's literally a hivemind with a wi-fi 😅
That's not a Toruk, that's a Slotsyal (Storm Glider). They're different. A. toruk has brow ridges that doesn't let it look up, slotsyal don't have that ridge but they don't need it because they have a stinger at the end of their tails. So if you ARE stupid enough to attack one it's sting paralyzes Ikran, their fall to the ground becomes lethal and if YOU are stung you die nearly instantly (according to the hunter's guide). Toruk don't live on that continent as far as we know

I ran into it yesterday throughout the main quest line. It took no damage. Nothing I tried worked. Wish you can bond with it in future DLC
Hopefully you can bond or they add that other big bird Jake bonded with, also it took me like 60 arrows of both heavy and regular bow

It's a game there has to be a hitbox for it's notice distance so like you can't fly behind it and it wouldn't notice you're there at all😅
Hunting the one over the lake is not advised. It can easily sink out of reach then your effort is for nothing when you can’t loot it. Make sure to fight it over the island or choose one of the adults in the clouded forest.

Turuk was a very smart beast sully had amazing timing likely from spying on him In the movies, we never got to see how he tamed the beast and also the banshee in the game is not turuk

Ok so who’s gonna tell him that’s not Turok and it’s a storm glider, also in case you didn’t know the reason how Jake Sully jumped on the back of Turok so easily is because of a bone sticking out covered in skin over its eyes that every one of them have(it’s a body part) blocking them from looking up, the species is not called Turok(I think 80% sure)

As for Sully's theory, he didn't need to. Eyva would have mind controlled the Toruk to surrender to him anyway. Same as it "Morrowinger-ed" Neytiri into loving him and how it simply commanded all available drones to attack in the climax of both movies. It's literally a hivemind with a wi-fi 😅
That's not a Toruk, that's a Slotsyal (Storm Glider). They're different. A. toruk has brow ridges that doesn't let it look up, slotsyal don't have that ridge but they don't need it because they have a stinger at the end of their tails. So if you ARE stupid enough to attack one it's sting paralyzes Ikran, their fall to the ground becomes lethal and if YOU are stung you die nearly instantly (according to the hunter's guide). Toruk don't live on that continent as far as we know

Except in game thats a slotsyal. Not Toruk. As well in game we are on another part of the continent from Sully, therefore we dont even know if Toruk are native to the area we play.

Ergo, the Stormglider will look up if need be. But Toruk won’t.
