    This is a terrific breed example really "turned on" and showed beautifully in the best in show competition. The contrast would be the excellent Giant Schnauzer --#1 conformation dog all breeds-- who showed very professionally but without the sparkle needed to catch the judge's eye. Non-dog and pet people simply do not understand this extraordinary sport.

    • @squeakymousedragon8006
      @squeakymousedragon8006 Месяц назад

      Oh I agree, that Schnauzer was really stunning! Poodles though, you really can't compete when it comes to flash and style. They're just awesome.

    I'm partial to the herding and working dog group, therefore I could never be a judge at Westminster. I'm not a Poodle person but I have to admit, Sage was a standout. I was hoping for the German Shepherd or Giant Schnauzer. Maybe next year a Sporting group will win...like the Golden Retriever.

    I wish a dog would win that looks like an actual dog.

    • @hotdangers
      @hotdangers Месяц назад +6

      The Poodle is a dog, therefore Sage looks like an actual dog. This is a historically accurate hair cut from when Poodles were used as hunting dogs. The hunters they worked with sheared as much fur as they could so the dogs wouldn’t be weighed down in the water while retrieving birds but their vital organs would be covered to keep them warm.

    • @squeakymousedragon8006
      @squeakymousedragon8006 Месяц назад

      I have a toy poodle, he looks like an actual dog. The show cut is for show, it's done intentionally. The dog underneath is actually just a cute with a short sport clip. Easier to handle too... Seriously, even show people shave them down after show season, the continental is notoriously difficult to maintain, it just looks really cool. I put my little guy in one ONCE. We kept it three weeks and then turned it into a Miami cut because its such a pain in the bum.

    Squeezing the dogs mouth shut tho..?

    • @squeakymousedragon8006
      @squeakymousedragon8006 Месяц назад

      Yeah I noticed that too, it kind of bugged me. He squeezes her muzzle awfully tight. You have to be firm with where you want the dog to be though, they have to stay absolutely still while being judged. I placement trained my poodle from a puppy, I don't even have to use a lead to get him to stand on the table, just a gentle hold with my fingers on his muzzle and he'll usually do whatever you want him to. He gets treats if he behaves and he's smart enough to know it, so he does.

  • @charliemullem7482

    too much hair on her head, which is not natural, nor comfortable for this dog. The haircut is really exaggerated

    Ridiculous grooming! I would never do that to a dog of mine! Absolutely, completely stupid! I love Poodles, I’ve had 3 in my life.A beautiful dog, but the judges should be ashamed! The WKC should review carefully what is acceptable & what is not. My dogs who were very, very smart would have been totally embarrassed!

    • @hotdangers
      @hotdangers Месяц назад +7

      The Continental Clip which Sage is wearing is a historically accurate cut. The hunters who worked with Poodles would shear as much fur as they could to make sure the dogs were not weighed down in the water when retrieving birds but their vital organs were covered to keep them as warm as possible. This is not a fashion choice it’s a part of the breeds history.

    • @squeakymousedragon8006
      @squeakymousedragon8006 Месяц назад +1

      Personally? My toy doesn't care what he looks like, he prances around regardless, but that long thick fur, while super soft and amazing... Yeah, I couldn't do a continental either, not because my dog cares, but because they're too much work to maintain. That fur is insanely thick, it bet she spends at least an hour a day on the grooming table being brushed out. I keep my guy in a Miami Clip, we get the fun of the poms and poof without all the hassle. A quick brush out every few days and a bath once a month and he's fine.

      You should learn about the history of the types of grooming, like the other person pointed out. It's quite an interesting story, actually.

    You know darn well that the digs could care less, and they only care about getting a treat. Owners are embarrassing themselves for self gain at the expense of their poor missed dog. Such immature needy self-absorbed owners !

    • @hotdangers
      @hotdangers Месяц назад +9

      Dogs used to be wolves, they entered into a symbiotic relationship with humans for food. Dogs want to please owners for food. This is a weird expression of that, however the dog does not appear to be mistreated and looks well fed and stimulated. A lot of people do a lot of horrible things to dogs, this ain’t that.
