I see so many comments claiming Korn can't play live anymore, but I'm just not getting it. This is a great show! And for anyone saying these things, Korn is not supposed to be a pretty sounding band. They're nasty, in your face, and ugly. That's how Metal is supposed to be. Why do you think Metal is never on Billboard? It's the outcast of music for a reason, and that's why it's wicked as fuck! It's not fake, edited, and plastic like all this Pop shit out these days. Would you rather JD do lip syncing like the shit of today, or passionately throw his soul into it, and be himself? I'd rather Jonathan be a little off, than be completely fake. You guys need to remember what it's all about.
I agree, however their live performance used to be a lot better. They're not bad , just less epic than they were. In my view anyway. However, i fucking agree to the core with you that it's supposed to be slightly off, ugly and in your face. I would fucking hate JD if he ever lip synced, but he doesn't , even though he can't bring to the table what he did , but let's be fair - as a singer he chose a singing style which already was out of his reach to begin with. And he pushes through his vocal roof, giving him his signature sound. As a vocalist myself i know how heavy on the voice performing live can be, even without having a signature sound that means you push through your vocal limits to begin with - and i think 20 years of KoRn just did JD in. However i still appreciate that he is out there, pushing through as he always did, however his body is betraying him after 20 years. But i'll take this show and rock out to it over lipsyncing any day of the week. KoRn to me is still KoRn, and i love their new sound. It's still an epic band with epic performance skills. I will never not 'like' KoRn because of how they perform right now because even though they went from 300% to 250% still to me means they are so much better than so much of the shit out there.
Well said, dude. I agree they aren't as good as they used to be, but they still do bring on a kick-ass show, that's for sure. But unfortunately it's just a fact of life, that at some point, you will slowly lose abilities that you once were able to wield with simplicity. So to that, I tip my hat to the band for staying around, and pushing their boundaries. Ya gotta have respect for musicians who still go out there and kick ass after all of the years they've been involved in music and drained themselves.
I've seen so many KoRn's shows, but that, with Woodstoock and few others, was one of the most f*cking rocking show they ever made. What a crowd! Jon sang like he's an 19 kid, Head back is a glorious return, Ray is so powerful, I mean, ok David was heart of KoRn, but hell yeah this dude rocks people, Munky is still a rock and Fieldy is a crazy piece of shit, he is awesome.
Korn is one of those bands that just don't give a fuck. And that's what I love about them. They have their style and they've dabbled with trying new things but they always stick to what they play. They love what they do and it shows in their shows and in their recorded albums. As a fan among many, we love the fuck out of what they do too.
blisterpacman to piss people off, duh. And they wanted to mix their style with something new and never tried before. Sure it doesn't sound like the self titled album but who can expect that from a band like Korn that's always trying new elements and what not?
blisterpacman Because JD likes dubstep and thought it would be cool to mix it with metal and it was, I liked PoT so did a enough people to get it the best metal album of the year award. It was something new, fresh, and unique.
BEAUTIFUL to see KORN all together & jamming!!!!! Rockin us out man!!!! I love this show! KORN HERE TO STAY! Love the new album too! Go HEAD, Jonathon, Munky, Fieldy...all you guys rock! Wohoo! - BUT to AXSTV - the volume is down too low for my TV & computers to hear their awesome sound???? Otherwise, the band KORN rocks better than ever!
although i agree with an earlier post about JD's voice being fueled by a darker time in his life, and thus affecting his performance, I agree more with an even earlier post in saying that the sound quality sucks in this video...so i dont think its them playing poorly as it is the sound mixing. They need to fire someone
Without looking at the set list provided, I'm sitting here thinking, please play Rotting in Vein, then I realize what year this was lol. Amazing set regardless. Has the same amazing energy from their first FV so many years ago.
Not too fond of the fact that they didn't let Head go back to playing the solo in Another Brick In The Wall. He was the one that played it before he left, and in my opinion, he played it a lot better than Munky. Feels like a case of Munky's ego not wanting to give up the spotlight.
That's not lyrics, that's so he doesn't forget the order of songs in the setlist -which they specifically created for this tour so it's not their standard one. It's the setlist not the lyrics.
@Amazistringsmusic Definitely a lyrics teleprompter. 100%. 1:17:49 - Yellow text - "Shut The Fuck Up." (He had just finished singing that line. 1:18:04 - Yellow text - "Got The Life" White text immediately below that - "Hey something..." (first lyrics of the song) 1:19:07 - Green(Possibly still yellow, but under different lighting?) Text - "So give me something..." If it was just the setlist, there's no reason to have a monitor for it when the rest of the band has the setlist printed on paper. I'm not knocking him at all, though. With as many songs as they have in their repertoire, needing a little help to get through them is understandable.
Samuel Avalos video sound can be enhanced, which is a long way from sync. You lose so much of the live power when you go to video that, IMO, a little touching up is a plus.
Good mics have a much farther reach than you would expect - especially if you are screaming like he is. Plus, the vocals don't sound edited at all. Obvious flats are hit throughout the gig - not that hes a bad singer, hes just human
So glad Head is back! He brought the balls and he and Munky need each other. Chocolate and peanut butter man... but Munk was fuck up here. The rest of the guys are sober. Not sure about Ray but Munky still parties like he's 21. And, if you've never been around Munk when he's shithammered, you're missing the greatest show on earth. And if Caco is still teching for these guys, he needs to be kicked in his armpit for this mess. All 3 are out of tune. But, Korn has "teeth" again with Head . I'm a happy camper. Fuck, even started listening again. PS has some great riffs.
You know that you love a band if you listen to a show over YT and handbang to so many song and put your midlefinger in the fucking air (Y`all want a single) Or put both of the fist`s in the air (during Somebody Someone)
В целом концерт заебись . Блять ,я думал соляк в Another Brick In The Wall будет Хэд ебашить , а не Манки . Порадовал стикер LImp Bizkit на гитаре у Манки :)
There's a difference between new and old Korn, just as much has there is between Slipknot. Both bands have proven the belong in the conversation of the greatest but Old School Is where it is at. I have seen both versions of both bands. I enjoyed the good old days when they performed like maniacs. Age and conforming to the new age has taken it's toll. Still see them to this day when I have the chance, but it is not the same as it was back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Sorry kids, but this is a far fetch from what this band used to be.
I often think this too. Saw them live a tonne and in ‘02 when I saw them as a bright eyed 16 year old, Korn were just something monstrous back in the day. Fuck knows how insane they would’ve been live in the 90s. Very envious of those that got the chance to see them then. But yea, live back then they were something else. Now doesn’t compare. Obviously age, time, potential boredom maybe in their part who knows, but nothing like they once were. I fucking loved KoRn but part of me wishes they stopped a while ago when members started coming and going and left this historic powerhouse legend behind. It’s in a knife edge with them starting to seem a bit sad to watch now. I echo another dudes statements as well that they’re live playing has gotten real sloppy and complacent as well.
Hey Titus, I've seen it too. You need to rewatch it my friend. They're not all sober. Just Head, Fieldy, and JD. And trust me on this one. Munk's not sober. Nor is he all "Jesusy" either. Just Head and Fieldy. He is however, a hilarious guy when he's drunk.
CaptainKirkDiggler u know nothing munky doesn’t drink like he used to but in a more healthy and Occasionally get ur facts straight i heard every interview head said and i watch alot of their youtube stuff
I fucking love KoRn, been following them since forever and Ray is smack bang on his shit... BUT... with the greatest of respect it just seems like the original members are starting to lose it live now. I understand they're getting on now but at the start when the guitars are horribly off the beat (ouch!). JD's original death growl is all but gone, his lung capacity seems to be dwindling slightly to the point where and he's having to inhale on the choruses of Cannibal mid-line, plus doesn't appear to be pushing himself vocally on the old material. And Fieldy looks like he just cannot be arsed to get stuck into the music anymore! Having said all this JD's stage presence as come on leaps and bounds and I love that they're pushing themselves musically! I really hope they pull it out of the bag and prove I'm talking out of my ass. \m/
Cheers zonfar! :) To clarify, I didn't mean JD can't do them anymore. I just feel that they don't have as much drive/ emotional content as they used to.
As far as JD is concerned... it's true to a degree because the "growls" on the new album are falsettos... he doesn't put power into them... and he does mostly falsetto growls live too.... but he does that by choice. I think for him it's more about the "vibe" than the execution at times. Plus he's learned how to protect his voice and honestly, the power that he used to put into his vocals came from a very dark emotional head space... so the fact that he's gotten past a lot of those dark times would explain the lack of emotion in his performance. Either way, still a rocking band and an amazing vocalist.
Laurence Desbruslais About the growl thing who the hell listens to KoЯn for growls? My favourite songs does not contain (sorry for lack of vocabulary) growls and even if they do they are not the most important parts.
Laurence Desbruslais We can agree on the live performance but actually i think most bands (which i know) can't bring the cd quality not even close. For example try to compare Change (In The House Of Flies) - Deftones movie and live version.

at 28:15 if you look in the mosh pit you will find a dude wearing a Five Finger Death Punch Tee. at a Korn concert?
So?
I wore a Korn T-shirt to a Nine Inch Nails concert once, no one complained.
well yeah.... but im just saying.
Eddie Riggs i wish id had the money to do that! i only have seen them once, and i got two tees and one from their concert.
I know right i cant imagine the feeling of that
