  • Here is a Monday afternoon walkthrough of the Forest Fair Mall aka Forest Fair Village aka Cincinnati Mills aka Cincinnati Mall in Forest Park / Fairfield, OH.
Please forgive my shoddy camera-ing. I did this quickly and spontaneously during a road trip. I know other videos may exist of the interior. Posting this for historical record and nostalgic purpose.
News outlets have indicated that this property finally locked it's doors for good on July 6, 2022.... which is at least 5 years later than I would have imagined it shuttering.
Shot out to Ace from Ace's Adventures who was also coincidentally touring the facility when I was there.
    Filmed 04/25/2022 by Brian Florence.

Sad to see such an iconic mall finally closed. I thought the day would never come. Truly the end of an era smh

I visited this place in February and it was so cool! I realized I was two hours away and had to take a road trip! This one will be demolished after the arcade leaves in September. I'm sad to see it go. I definitely got apocalyptic vibes when I had to pee! You'd think it's abandoned if you didn't know any better. You can't hear anything in the bathrooms besides the light fixtures.
I regret I didn't get to visit the tri county mall. :/ They closed permanently in May.

What a nice mall. Why did so many people stop going to malls? I know the standard explanation for dead malls is internet shopping, but I have to think it's more than that. Obviously, massive amounts of people became anti-social. Malls weren't just places to buy stuff, people went there to hang out, especially young people.

Shopping made us go. Socialization made us stay. Now shopping is centralized in big box. Then, the internet brought specialized shopping away from the mall. What reason is left to go to the mall? According to my kids, it's to see the puppies at the pet store. ☺️

You need a better camera & mic but still a very cool video. The shopping malls in my area of Toronto Canada are renovating, thriving & expanding! Eaton Center, Yorkdale Mall, Square One, Vaughn Mills & Sherway Gardens are growing and jam packed with people. Those are A level malls but even the B level malls are constantly renovating and expanding around here. Dead Malls mostly seem to be a thing in the USA?

You'll see them in smaller Canadian cities too- for instance, London ON has 4 malls (not counting just local malls) and 2 of them are thriving, and 2 of them are dead. Toronto is also a big city to begin with, and growing fast, which helps retailers a lot.
A lot of the dead malls in the USA share similar stories- usually, the mall was built in an area that couldn't support it- either it was too expensive for the locals, or too downmarket and thought of as dangerous even if it wasn't; or it was built too close to existing malls.

No wonder it closed down, look at that dated 80s and 90s interior. The whole place needs a complete modernising refurbishment (which is very possible to do)

Per the other deadmallers, it's estimated that over 500 *million* dollars was spent on this mall during the course of it's life, which is INSANE to fathom. I don't know if that includes it's actual price tag to construct, but EVEN if it does, that's insane! How much more would need to be spent to bring this mall up to date now? Was it worth it before, how could it be worth it now?

@@DeadMallsMedia now that it's closed down its probably too late and not worth it anyway

I know, right? Although, this mall is located centrally in relation to many population centers and travel corridors, but still, you never expect a needle in a haystack to bump into another needle in a haystack unintentionally 😁

As I recall, the air in the hall did not have any odor that stood out, which is pretty amazing considering the size of space they needed to maintain despite its lack of use and occupancy
