Thanks for the great video! I liked the fishing part - a lot of videos on YT leave out how you have to cast again and again and never give up until there's some action a lot of the time.
I was always taught that it's not such a good idea to move the fish backwards and forwards through the water when releasing it. This is because doing so can damage the gill filaments so one should just place the fish headfirst against the prevailing current flow until it's ready to swim off to fight another day :)
A stripping basket is a hinderance for this type of fishing, there is a lot of waist deep wading in the surf to reach targets, and a lot of running down the beach after schools of fish to get the only shots you may get during the day. Great suggestion, but for me it is not a good option. It will however work if you want to fish from one spot while actually standing on the beach or in the wave wash, but you will lose 90% of your opportunities that way, so I just suffer with the adversity....thanks for checking out the video and the commnent!
Awesome! I'm hoping to target off of Johnsons Beach last week of March. Do you think they will still be around? I didn't get a look at your fly but was planning to use small clousers and epoxy flies matching glass minnows?? Thanks!
