- Solitude and silence in the mountains can be a blessing sometimes.
Climbing the highest mountain of Croatia, Dinara, Signal all alone and by myself while I travel through the Balkan on my way down to Greece and the mediterranean sea.
A lot of thoughts went through my mind when I enjoyed the beautiful nature of Croatia and I realized that we can also enjoy the mountains without pushing ourselves to the extreme in order to achieve something special!

When you talk about your alone time on an easier mountain being purifying or curative, it made me reflect a bit. Alone time in the mountains for me is medicine, with the definition of medicine being one that I heard quite some time ago: medicine is anything that brings one closer to one's true self. It's the knowing in the moment that this is exactly what you were put on the earth to do and that while doing it, every facade and wall and pretense around who you are falls away. That's what pulls me to mountaineering.
The flip side is that this is a sport notoriously rife with ego. It tends to attract people who need to push the limit in a way that is either purely performative or coming from a misguided notion that we have no worth if we don't continuously rack up achievements that stun others.
It's refreshing to hear someone like yourself talk about finding joy and peace without a need to go to extremes in a detrimental way. It's completely valid to love the mountains in a way that plays the long game!
Norrdine, you should come to Bulgaria :) Plenty of unique and beautiful mountains to climb as well as the highest peak in the Balkan peninsula, Musala with 2925m. Your videos are very well made and inspiring, you deserve way more views 👍

Beauty is everywhere to be found! It is not always that obvious, for some people some thing seven seem to be ugly... but I think there is so much obvious and hidden beauty in the world

You must have seen a lot beautiful places during your travels. Even though 'traveling alone can be really fun it also has it's risks. Stay safe out there.
Oh yes! I can not even count how many beautiful places I have already seen. My life is full of experiences since I started mountaineering! You stay safe aswell!
As a mountaineer, you reserve the right to change your mind at anytime!😊
Every once in a while, you will begin to feel that familiar fire of needing to see what your body's limits are (if any) ... such as summitting Annapurna & Lhotse w/o oxygen.
You can do almost anything now, as long as no one gets you sick again.
Hey Mila, thank you for your comment. I should have mentioned in the video that this was in 2019. It was a transition phase in my life, when I slowed down as a person and mountaineer and readjusted my thinking. Sometimes we need to take a step back to take a big leap :D

Yeah, it has a lot of beautiful places. I think a lot of Game of Thrones scenes have been shot here.
