    Most RUclips reviewers only do reviews to get free kits. Most modellers now only buy kits to put in their attic or spare room and then sell them again. This is a right review, tells the truth.

      Wholeheartedly agree. To each their own, but all too often RUclips kit reviews are someone waving some sprues in front of your nose!

      Thank you, That's one of the biggest reasons I did this review ... I was getting pretty bored with those "Open Box Reviews". It's a kit, so all the pretty parts in the world are worthless if they don't fit together properly. And I didn't want the fixes "swept under the rug."

      @@scale-model-workshop This is by orders of magnitude the best and most useful online build review I have ever seen. Your time and your RUclips channel are your own, but please feel free to do more build reviews like this one. I don't think you'll hear many complaints.

    Very impressive, and most important, truly useful build review. This should be a model for how reviews are done. The Tempest is one of my all time favorite aircraft. I am eagerly awaiting the kit. Thanks!

    When removing the cockpit frame from the spru I had flashbacks to my last visit to the dentist. Not a good memory. ;) Great series Paul. I'd watch more of these. I take it this series is regarding assembly only and not a complete build as parts would've been painted along the way.

    • @scale-model-workshop
      @scale-model-workshop  5 лет назад

      Yes, I wanted it to be an actual review of the kit and how it goes together. No hidden corrections or "cover-ups," so modelers would know what to expect when building the kit.

    Excellent review - we've all shared this across our various pages. Exactly what is needed from a build review: "these are the issues - this is how I chose to deal with them"

    Great video, outstanding builder! I am impressed how Paul Jigs up parts for proper alignment. I am now building the Modelsvit P51 H. I see similarities in tooling between this Tempest and My P51 H. I wonder if tooled by same firm? Modelsvit's P-51H is a jewel in terms of detail and scale fidelity. So much trouble to align landing gear properly. I made a balsa squared jig I attached under wing, using white glue. I used this to align gear and wheels, then removed jig with a little water. Also gear are so fragile, on the real H too. I would make them out of metal next time. The softer plastic also reguired me to saw small parts off sprues, because snipping caused them to distort and break. Be careful about brush cementing large areas, as it seemed to almost distort plastic. Modelsvit P51H is a great looking kit when built. I aced the Cockpit and all photo etch parts. My finishing, black base and Allclad II Chrome has been one learning experiment.

    Using a Dremel tool (or equivalent) to remove delicate parts was genius! I'll be doing that in future. Wonderful review, thanks very much.

    I can only echo other people’s comments. Excellent review! I’ll be keeping an eye on this series as I’m sitting on the fence with this kit. As a side note, Eduard has announced a second series Tempest for February and a Royal Class Tempest for June I believe.

    Very good review Paul. Liking the understated class of your videos. I think the break in the cockpit rail may actually be a cold shut, but the packaging is still unacceptable. Looking forward to seeing how you paint the cockpit with the fuselage closed up. 😉

    Got this one for Christmas. It's amazing how many 109's and spitfires are still being made, but other subjects are neglected. Well done to Eduard for this. By the way, the Special Hobby 1/32 Tempest was a decent kit. Ps, please do another part for the Invader!

    I have Eduard's "Tan" plastic limited edition Tempest MkV #1169 with the resin cockpit. Not a decent kit. More frustration, than pleasure. I'm not sure which is worse the resin pit or the blob of a pit that comes with the kit. So far this new kit looks like night to day. Excellent pit, and air intake, looking forward to the rest of your build.

    I have recently completed the Hasegawa 1/48 Typhoon in the Eduard box and it was a pretty disappointing kit to build. It showed its age in the lack of out of the box detail in the cockipt, radiatot bay, around the tailwheel area. The locating pins had to be removed as thy warped the fuselage, but none of the parts in rhe ( also oversised ) box suffered any damage, as the plastic was quite thick and sturdy

    Thank you so much to share your knowledge and your suggestions. From one of the best modellers I can see on the internet, these tips are gold to me.I dedicate myself and apply every tips you give here on RUclips as well as on your website, because I feel that I spent more time on painting, weathering and creating dioramas, than on building models with in-depth shape and details.I wonder, though, do you also like to paint your builds, and weather them a bit, or do you prefer to let the models you build as if they look brand new ?

    • @scale-model-workshop
      @scale-model-workshop  5 лет назад +1

      Since my models are displayed in a more industrial/museum setting, the focus needs to be on the subject. Too much weathering makes the model about the dirt and not the machine. If it were in a diorama setting or on a model railroad, I would absolutely weather it appropriately. What I came to learn, many years ago, when I was doing large scale Formula 1 cars, is that it is much more difficult to make something look new and real.

      RUclips provides a ton of analytics. One of them is watch times and locations. The longest watch times are people from the US and they barely ever get past 5 minutes ... most countries never get past 3 minutes. So I decided to keep these parts down to watchable time segments because of the sequential nature.
