- Despite frustrations with CenterPoint Energy over ongoing power outages, a spokesperson joined KPRC 2 News Today to share some of the progress made in the days since Hurricane Beryl took Houston by surprise.
I don't believe Centerpoint.
Let's all not be ready to pay our bill this month. DO NOT PAY YOUR ELECTRIC BILL THIS MONTH
@@fuzzyjavi Our bills shouldn't be that bad since we have no power.
Don't, they are lying on that map we're they show colors for restore power.
Centerpoint energy is not always there
Oh, I can! A corrupt-as-hell bureaucracy!
I don’t think center point has any real motivation to help Houstonians.
only motivation is for their shareholders
Fake Point Energy! I'm Over The Lies!
Weakest power grid in the nation, and we have no choice?? Get them out of here
They don't control the grid. ERCOT does.
Texans would be better off joined to the national grid.
@@mike_w-tw6jd Not really. Most of the damage was caused by uprooted trees falling on lines. Natural disaster, not a grid problem.
@@mike_w-tw6jdmost of Texas still has power so how tf would that help in a hurricane with down lines leading to your house.

She said they're working more than 24 hours a day, interesting since there are only 24 hours in the day, lol.
25 hours a day 🎉
Snowflake education
Well, two people working 24 hours a day is 48 hours, right?🤣
😂😂😂😂 yeah I got that that’s so funny
She’s lying
How can we replace CenterPoint!?! Houston has been having storms for years and you all still don’t have a strategy for these type of situations? Yet you’re quick to snatch the money out of my account ON TIME every month? We need real answers. I see trucks all around my neighborhood parked while we’re still without electricity! WHY?
EXACTLY! Start with class action suits.
I miss HL&P
Electric companies are scams rich Caucasian been robbing people if 2.6 million without Electric why have only 1500 workers they dont even want pay employees to get job done fast company worth $19b on stock market be worth $10m overnight 😂😂😂😂if pay $100 month cant even have lights in 3 days its 100 degrees outside why use service
Bc they making money out of this
Watching from Brazil 🇧🇷 and I am not happy with that. Shame on you CenterPoint Energy. USELESS AND PARASITIC PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.
DO NOT PAY YOUR ELECTRIC BILL THIS MONTH. CENTERPOINT SAID ITS FREE, pass the word!!!
Oh, do people think this is some kind of humanitarian gesture? One month? How about the whole FU%#@& YEAR Centerpoint-you incompetent and corrupt bureaucrats!?!
U know what that means no power for a week or 2
How many lives were lost? 😡
Really
is there a link?
Why are we seeing parking lots full of trucks?
Shouldn’t they be out?
Good question! They still have not come out to move my downed wire in my driveway. Yet I see their trucks parked all around my neighborhood doing nothing!?!
They were parked yesterday!!! In Pearland
They were not staged the day before
They're probably still "training" them on our "infrastructure." Their excuses are like a*holes, everyone has one but dang they have many.
Tax write off.
They were not prepared, period
Watching from Brazil 🇧🇷. Shame on you CenterPoint Energy. I am not happy with that. USELESS AND PARASITIC PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.
This is the most evil kind of thing to have done to Houston
They are doing it on purpose
630 in 24 hrs ain't ish.....when will you be prepared and make sure MILLIONS aren't losing power EVERY TIME there's a storm
That's a good question and a question they should be asked!
I think she meant 630,000.
Yes by taking other 630 ish ppl’s power. We lost ours Tuesday when hurricane was gone. Why?
630??? It's been 3 days now and still not good enough! Let your bill be due and they'll disconnect it so fast your head spins!!
She meant to say 630,000 in the past 24 hours. She’s just bad at communicating which is ironic cuz it’s literally her job
Can the the electric centerpoint monoply stop??! Investigate that!!!!
San Antonio has a monopoly and it works fine. I think the problem is we have too many people living here.
Gov should check into that right? Oh wait he is OVER SEAS on a BIZ trip!
If Centerpoint would stop spending billions of dollars on stock buybacks to enrich the CEO and spend that money on infrastructure maybe we would have had less people lose power.
All customers without power for days suffering in heat, buying fans and ice, losing food.....WE DESERVE A DISCOUNT. My power bill is almost $200 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
😂 mine is $428 and I'm in an apartment. I'd like to pay less then $200!!! No, it's not an expensive apartment and it's further down the Houston area. Be grateful your bill isn't as high as mine and we still don't have power!
My parents electricity bill last month was over 600$ 😰
U got power if u got bought a fan
@@user-oz6kw7hh6owhat’s that supposed to mean?
@@fujikayuki and some complaining that their bill is over $145 or $200 while others have a bill over those amounts! But dang $600!!! Do they live in a big house?
This lady spoke a lot of words but said absolutely nothing.
Like listening to KJP spin for Biden 🤮
The smiles & laughing reminds me of AOC & hidalgo 😒🤮🤬
That is just a lie I think they are working for 24 hours, if they work 24 hours , in the night the restoring number should have gone down but it stays same number till morning.
North Houston still has no power!!! Fix it !!!! We are tired of excuses !!!
I think they are not restoring power on purpose, what a shame?
I do too, I think they drag their feet. Millions either can't, or can't be bothered to cook a meal for themselves right now. The restaraunts are booming. We had an economic boost due to the derecho, after that I noticed fast food places in my neighborhood virtually empty. We got big salads at a salad place and a wrap sandwich for our daughter. 99$!
Without these outages, the economy here would be in severe recession due to inflation.
@@mohammedjeffali1076 So you actually think the restaurant industry brought the hurricane and now won't restore your power? What kind of drugs are you on?
It's not on track BS over here down Southeast side of Houston because there are building with power and I'm at home sitting here without power and A/C.
Hundreds of trucks parked behind manvel high school & have been all night. Looks like theyre on 8 hour days if that.
I could not sleep at all last night because the heat is so unbearable. To make it worse, we could not find a store that had ice. I literally drove around in the middle of the night to hotels to get ice from their ice machines to try and save whatever food we have. We cannot afford to replace a fridge and freezer worth of food.
We are the same 😢
I feel your pain the heat in a house with no AC is still unbearable after 12am
Buy a generator
Contact your senator and congressman about emergency food stamps, I remember during Harvey they literally gave anyone who was willing to wait in a long line food stamps. I put me and my dogs name down and they gave me $800 😂😂
@jaklinhyde our senator, who fled the coming storm... again?
They claim there are 11K workers deployed, I haven seen a single electrical service truck nor a tree debris removal truck since the hurricane hit. Im in First Colony in Sugar Land.
No power or water since Monday.
1 million? Wasn't it close to a million restored already... so isn't it more like 200k or so might get restored today? Don't give people false hope. It's so hot people can die from this. After so many years they continue to make excuses.
THAT RESTORATION TRACKER IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE!!
Yes!! It says my neighborhood is “ENERGIZED” which isn’t!! We still don’t have power!
and poorly made, you can barely read the street names
We supposed to get a storm by tomorrow, I highly doubt they will still be working. It will most likely prolonged the repairs
Center Point is the must have the most wicked people leading this company
What on earth is a weather head? She said nothing newsworthy.
Why didn’t they even ask her to clarify that that. Weak journalism. That said I think it’s the grey box where the electrical wires come into the house. Usually near the eaves and breaker box
@Hilaire_Balrog Oh wow- thanks! That makes sense.
We live in 77064. Our neighbors across street had power back last night but we still no have power! I just don’t understand why in the same community some houses have power but right across the same street they don’t
1: 18 "Were working 24 hours a Day throughout the day, .....more than 24 hours" WHOT? You cant make this up.....
Keep in mind... Beryl was a CAT-ONE STORM and they knew it was coming for days.
All I hear is excuses
All I hear is whining.
Houston on track for 2 weeks with out power is the truth 😢😢😢
Lots of talk and little action 😢
Center point should pay every affected customer $3000 for their failed organization!
We are extremely disappointed with the inadequate response from CenterPoint. It's important to clarify that our dissatisfaction is not directed at the hardworking employees in the field who are doing their best to address the situation. Rather, it is concerning the decision-makers whose lack of concern is evident. It's crucial to emphasize that decisions made during these critical events have real consequences, and when lives are lost due to these decisions, those responsible should be held accountable both criminally and civilly.
What’s crazy is that earlier today. They had the nerve to send me the bill through email….Like come on.
I LIVE IN BRAZIL 🇧🇷 AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THAT. SHAME ON YOU CenterPoint Energy. USELESS AND PARASITIC PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.
That’s right they called in ‘damage assessment’
Centerpoint is not working at night. Daytime only. Power outage numbers prove that. Electricity is no joke, safety is important. However, I’m surprised they aren’t getting anything done at night.
If they offered more jobs then maybe things could move faster. We have two major problems POOR INFRASTRUCTURE and LACK OF EMPLOYMENT! None of these help our city. Still no electricity… praying for everyone affected.
It’s hot hurry up
Bring Houston lighting and power back
yes! almost forgot about HL&P!
Houston was not prepared for Hurricane Beryl because the city lacks funding (Houston is broke), according to Mayor John W. While CenterPoint likely had a small crew available to be able to say that they "had people out there ready", even though the actual need for assistance was much greater. Being a natural disaster, I'm sure CenterPoint does not want to spend their money, rather the City's money.
I have a workmate whose husband works for a power company up here in N-TX. Last week, he was in OK dealing with power outages - then he got the call over the weekend to go to Houston. So he drove 8 hours to your city to help get things up and going. Why am I telling you this? Because his wife got a video from him today of people cussing at him, throwing rocks and bottles at his crew members and having a hissy fit because someone brought these linemen some cold cut sandwiches. Really? Why?
I understand the frustration and the heat, I spent two of the worst years of my life in Houston. I also understand that living on the coast means you better be ready to take care of yourself for a week or so while hard working linemen struggle to get your AC back on.
These men sleep in their trucks because the hotels nearby are filled to capacity. They don't have the option of searching out a cooling station for some respite from the heat. And they don't see their families for weeks on end. So you want to throw things at these men, maybe make one of them lose their balance and fall into one of those power lines. Would that get your lights on faster?
Shame, shame, shame on these folks who are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't find some way to help the others around them, especially the crews that are working 16 hours per day, trying to help Houston. BIG, BIG black eye for some of Houston!!!
what does she mean, we will have 1M with power by the end of the day??? does that number include people who never lost power, your maps and charts are not helpful.
Imagine being fk during the winter and now the summer 😅 but move to Texas they said
The map Center Point Energy released last night has bad data. It shows energized lines where there is still no power and lines in the queue to be repaired where there is already power. I feel the Company is misleading the public, which could do further harm, all in an effort to put any information out to save face. They should pull this map and not mislead the public. What if a person uses the little bit of gas they have to get home because it appears they have power and when they get there they have no power and no way to refuel to leave again.
It has to be a fraudulent map .. cause just yesterday they stated their outage tracker was down since may .. not to be up until august.
Complaint to public utility commission of Texas!!
Now my parents are in the green area of that BS Map and still don't have power. I'm tired of anytime a storm comes through Houston we don't have power for weeks.
This was a rather small catastrophe and still so many people are without power. You would think such a large company would be better planned, organized, prepared. I believe very little of what this woman has stated.
All those trucks look. Pretty parked there in the sun light.
The governor needs to send out some stimulus checks everybody lost all the food in their ice boxes and they've been suffering so come on Hot Wheels send out some stimulus checks
Oh wow they have a restoration tracker. Ill sweat les tonight in my 85 degree heat
If I had a gallon of gas for every time she said (ummm..) my generator could run for a year.
Wish Entergy can get half of those numbers
Just now going cloud based?!
this lady talks better than that DEI hire they interviewed at first.
I hear you racist sucker!! Go unalive yourself
Impressed to hear CP is working more than 24 hours a day on this. 😑
Really not working hard center point is always not ready .this is life treating situations due to the heat and center point has no enough crews to restore the power back
The power outage problem in Houston following the recent hurricane underscores a major issue with infrastructure. It's concerning that in a city where residents pay significant taxes, they still experience outages due to outdated above-ground power systems. Houstonians rightfully expect better service in return for their tax contributions. It's imperative that CenterPoint Energy and city officials prioritize upgrading to underground systems to ensure reliability and meet the expectations of its residents.
all coastal us cities should be hurricane-proof for the most part, or at least easily restartable
I’m on the dirty side and haven’t seen one truck it’s Day 3
Finally got my power back.
They said that 1M would be restored Tuesday. Didn't happen. They said it again yesterday? Lies. They are not on track.
Rest assured, CP is working "more than 24 hours per day" 🧐
In Stafford Texas no lights Wednesday ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are bill is 600 dollars im over this bs
"our" bill, just fyi (English teacher, I have to say something). take care, yes this bs for sure.
Anyone with a critical need of power 24/7 MUST have backup power.
Like they say, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
There's been a bunch of donuts and coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the way but as soon as the workers get those out of the way and they're going to get your power back on
What is a weather head? ?????
I have not seen not one of these so called crews working on anything. Centerpoint need to change their name to PinocchioPower, they are not going to stop being negligent until someone hit them with stiff fines, for every hour they are on break
very unlikely this will get fxed. Abbot is a good friend of centerpoint CEO. As long as the governor is in cahoots with all these services for profit companies nothing will change. Change the governor, change the system
WATCHING FROM BRAZIL 🇧🇷
"Boots on the ground" 🙄... A phrase (over)used by those who are ineffective for the task at hand.
The map is so inaccurate 2:53 it says my area has power BIG LIE
YOU NEED TO BE FIRED
How do these comms people even get jobs? They don’t know how to speak…
Have y’all been out in the streets? It’s the Wild West out there. & I have power
Check the weather ahead? I hope that CenterPoint stays away from us.
Tremendous population growth, EPA restrictions, equals power outages.
The dangerous heat index is not safe for residents
I'm in Brazoria County.... I don't see a light bill owed you anytime soon
This is just like listening to K Janpierre.......ALL B$......; lies galore.....NO ONE is responsible. God bless the line men/women actually working.

Incompetence at its finest. How can you say you where prepared
I will pay center point any longer… no matter what
Nobody is upset at the workers in the field at all
We r upset at the ppl who their one job is the recovery portion
This lady forgot about the question, and started to talk about not running over lines with their bikes?
Were is the governor is his wheel chair isn't water proof😂😂😂😂😂😂
My power should of been restored first...DO THEY KNOW WHO I AM....
As annoyed as I am to not have power yet I understand why they didn't have the aid here before hand. Why would anyone bring all their equipment to ride out a hurricane. It was better for them to come as soon as it was safe. If not there would've been less people out there trying to fix the power.
People aren't too bright. They just want to complain!
🤮🤮🤮 well that’s about the weakest excuse for this pathetically corrupt company I’ve heard so far.
@@Waterman1000 I'm not saying they're not corrupt and I'm not saying that they are. I just understand the safety concerns for workers. I also understand that there're too many trees that are near the power lines. That's another thing that needs to be addressed. Most of these power outages would have been avoided if trees were not allowed to be planted right by power lines.
Fuk this criminal enterprise formerly known as center point
It is standard practice for power companies to have crews staged and ready to go before a storm hits. Their vehicles and equipment are not at a significant risk of damage because they can stage outside of the storm area and move in as the storm passes. In this case, it seems that their cost/risk analysis led them to decide that the cost of doing that outweighed the risk of a delayed response. This is precisely the issue with utility companies being for profit and allowed to have a monopoly. That combination will always result in poor decisions (profits over lives).
Thanks channel 2
It shows my neighbor in Wharton is on, but they are not. Just cause you energized a grid does not mean power is on to our meter. Come on man. You can do better
If you can afford to live in Houston. You can afford to live somewhere else. Move!! This isnt going to change
Lol the energy company’s poor response has to do with DEI LEADERSHIP! Hiring people because they are inclusive vs competent at their jobs! This is the poor quality outcome of DEI policies!
100%
“The way she says I know people don’t want to hear that. They want to know when am I going to be restored?” Is so condescending. She’s a terrible person.
