Love Douglass work. The best price/quality traditional instrument you can get these days imo. 👌💛

My preference is for a closed sound port. I hear a slightly more focused sound, and clearly better bass on opened sixth string notes; E, or dropped D. Also, very nice response to vibrato, and no dead notes on the third string above 5th position where they are frequently found.

Bloomed is a beautifully melodic piece.

Great luthier. Love my 2023 632 scale spruce top Douglass Scott.

6:20 seems like opening the sound port also removes a little mid range punch. Could be useful also.

Small video production note: too busy and small details in patterns like your shirt can cause issues and moire effects on the video. Nice shirt though lol

Interesting when we get to hear soundports open and close, when it's closed I feel like I've changed elevation (pre ears popping) and then when it's opened my ears "pop" and I can hear more full sound.
