Dwight Howard absolutely belongs up there, i remember what healthy DH looked like in orlando he easily was comparable with LBJ in that time, and CB is out of his mind on his Rodman Take, dude has 5 rings and 20 rebounds games all over for years, he helped solidify MJ legendary status
Dwight and Vince should've been on there. I don't get why you have to include all of the Top50 in the Top75. At the point when the Top50 were chosen, they were the Top 50. But through time of course other players can come along that surpass what you did and therefore will "kick" you down the list all time. So some could have fallen out the overall Top75 and Dwight, Vince and maybe T-Mac could have been on there.
There's multiple players ahead of Vince Carter. Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Bernard King, Mitch Richmond, Tracy McGrady. Too many folk judge Vince solely based on his athleticism & leaping ability, but not his overall skills & stats.
T-Mac in his prime held a 5-7 year peak where he was arguably best player in world. There’s a lot of guys in top 75 that can’t claim nearly that. Mcgrady took a starting five of himself, darrell Armstrong, pat garrity, no outlaw, and Andrew declerq to the playoffs. A third of the team salary is being paid to grant hill. Injuries to himself and his teammates prevent t-mac from being a top 25 player.
Why would you want to get mentored by somebody that only made it because physical gifts? Not because of hard work or training. Love shaq but he mentoring mobody
Bruh Chris Broussard proved Nick's point with the list he says there's no question Ray Allen over Dwight like how can someone be so bias without thinking they're not being bias.
He's dead wrong about Reggie Miller. WAY too much emphasis on All-NBA teams and completely ignoring that he was the best player on a moderately talented Pacers team that consistently were near the top of the Easter Conference for several years, made it to the Finals, and darn near beat Jordan's Bulls. Writers in the 90s simply didn't know what they were watching. That's why he didn't have more accolades.
the math just didn't work. you have 50 players in 50 years, then you feel sorry for dominique wilkins and add him, so only 24 players in last 25 years, which is a much greater era in NBA than the first 25 years.
The biggest Snub ever was Dominique Wilkins not making in the top 50 Even though he retired being averaging over 21ppg for 15 seasons and was top 7 all-time in scoring when he retired. Yet they had Grant Hill in the top 50 after 3 seasons of playing.
You mentioned some great names here. What about Dennis Johnson, Bob Lanier, Jamaal Wilkes, Artis Gilmore, Bobby Dandridge, Gus Johnson, Connie Hawkins, Dikembe Mutombo, David Thompson, Tracy McGrady, Jo Jo White, Walt Bellamy, Chris Mullin, Andrew Toney, Pau Gasol, Shawn Marion, Shawn Kemp, Chris Bosh, Tim Hardaway Sr, Larry Nance Sr, Rolando Blackman, Micheal Ray Richardson, Cedric Maxwell, Yao Ming, Mitch Richmond. This is why making lists like this is meaningless, there is no official criteria, it's just opinion based. If there was actual statistical criteria, it would be easy to just list the guys who met the standards. But even more important than that, and we'll never know, is who would beat who if they played against each other. If I took 5 guys from the players you and I listed here, they would beat 5 of the best modern players.
I somewhat understand keeping the original 50 but for the 100th you should absolutely start from scratch as 50 years since the 50th anniversary you would expect better players came and went since then. I say no automatics next time all 100 spots are up for grabs
No, you can't erase the first 50 years of basketball and the pioneers of the sport. The game would NOT be what it is today without those that came before from everything on court to the off-season. The game has gone through many rule and format changes, including advancements in science, technology, medicine, nutrition, and training. That's all due in part from the men and women that came before.
@@atlien1988 he didnt say to ignore those 50 years. But how can you automatically guarantee that those 50 years brought as many top tier basketball players as the next 50 years? You have to start from scratch and look at all the players who ever played the game and choose the best of the best..
If you did a list after 5 years, and then one after 100 years, obviously not many on the first list would make the second list. The extreme case proves the point. The argument that if you made the top 50 then you should make the top 75 now is dumb.
Exactly like for example if you were exactly 50th on the list 25 years ago what if in the last 25 day about 30-40 people are better than yo career should be infront of you but they only gonna add 25 of those guys on there is dumb
I swear the media loves to lie to people. Broussard just said Dwight's been a mediocre role player for 8-10 years lol. Dwight's been a role player for 3 years. He was a starter as recently as 2018 putting up 16 and 12 for the Hornets.
16 and 12 for the hornets is akin to being a role player anywhere else. that was when he was in like 4 teams in like 3 seasons. but he wasn’t contributing to winning for a bit of stretch there
You’re thinking 2k role titles. Role player generally means “non star or building block player who is there to play a role”. Donte DiVincenzo starts for the bucks but he’s a role player. Jae crowder starts for the suns but is a role player. JaVale McGee is always a starter but is a role player, he catches lobs and grabs boards and blocks shots. Dwight is effectively the same player as McGee and has been the last 5+ years or so.
Dwight was just an outcast, that’s all. Lebron is #2 for the opposite reason but we don’t like that conversation. There really isn’t a reason why Klay and Dwight shouldn’t be on the list. It’s actually a travesty and a shame altogether. This list is a stats list, not a winning list.
The Rodman take is embarrassing for anyone that knows the statistics, as well as the qualitative stuff. Rodman defended Magic and Shaq. Dwight was never in his league as a defender. Rebounds wise Rodman was two standard deviations higher than anyone else in the league. Pathetic take
Not a pathetic take at all. Dwight was LEAGUE MVP. Dwight being snubbed is about perception, not reality. Dude got hurt and that’s why he wasn’t the same.
I'm not taking Rodman @his best OVER Dwight @his best!! Rodman's skills & skill-set can't touch that man! Howard can do what Rodman does, Rodman CAN'T DO what Howard does..
I disagree with Chris saying that Ray Allen was a greater player than Dwight Howard. Allen to me is a 2nd/3rd tier option even in his prime. Dwight was absolutely the main man in his prime when he was in Orlando.

Dwight absolutely deserves to be on this list. The league changed around the same time his prime was ending. Traditional Centers went the way of the dodo in the middle of his career.
@@ljpal18 hes actually right because what kyrie did in the finals vs the 73-9 warriors was literally greater than anything any other point guard has ever done
Dwight was literally still averaging 16pts 12 rebounds after his first season with the Rockets, while having no jump shot and getting caught in a time in the league where the NBA was becoming way more focused around perimeter scoring.
I remember Dwight his first year.. I couldn't understand why they guarded him like Shaq down low. Whenever DH got the ball he would get intentionally fouled.. they wouldn't let him shoot it. I was like, "why won't they let the rookie play?" I later learned it was because he was gonna dunk it and you couldn't stop it. He was so strong and could jump so high. Also, that Magic team was hard to cheat. That ref who publicly admitted the league rigs games said this... Anyhow I'm rambling
i understand why broussard wants to show respect to the 50s-60s guys, but kyrie is CLEARLY a more talented player than guys like bill sharman, dolph schayes, and dave bing, among some others and he’s played for about as many szns as some of those guys, and if the talent isn’t enough he has a ring and 2 finals appearances and arguably the greatest shot ever, AND a lot of these 50-60s guy only had 1 or no championships in an era where there was i like only 9 teams and way less playoff games

Of all the guys to go after on the list, Broussard chooses 5 time champion, 2-Time DPOY and 7 time rebounding champion Dennis Rodman? The history of basketball can't be told without Rodman. Broussard chose wrong
Dennis might be the only guy in league history who can legitimately claim that he could guard all 5 positions and do it effectively because he actually did it. That alone makes him a contender for GOAT defender which should suffice to make the list.
@@ursula3438 Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, Ben Simmons, Giannis Antetokumpo, Rodman, can all guard 1-5 Rodman isn't the only one bu far but part of a few elite.
@@conanfletcher891 Giannis definitely could, you're right. But Dennis would do it better than the other guys you mentioned, because Dennis, just like Giannis, was freakishly athletic.
Why pick on Rodman? Lol one of the best defensive players on.two championship squads? Best rebounder. ... you could have picked all offense guys who never cared about defense, lots of them
When Dwight Howard made all nba teams, remember that it was in a soft and dry center position. Dwight biggest competition at that position was Andrew Bynum. So using that he made more all nba teams over other guys isn’t fair when you consider that SF, and SG position are much deeper. Would have been different if Dwight was all nba in the 90s since the center position was deep then.
While I agree that Dwight got snubbed that's actually a pretty good point. Take a guy like Paul Pierce. 4 all nba teams, no 1st teams. Yet there was about a 10 year period he was a borderline top 10 player. But when you have to compete against guys like LeBron, KG, Duncan etc for one of two forward spots, it gets tough.
You CAN’T just ‘keep’ the SAME original top 50 players from the FIRST list and automatically ADD them to the top 75 list AS IF other players haven’t been BORN and played better and SURPASSED some of those players from the first top 50 list!! Some of those players HAVE to get moved off now, because NEW players came along in the past 25 years and became greater than some of those older players!! My man loved his great game.
If anything this list has taught me , is there are a ton of great players that have come around in the last 25 years.
Shaq might be the most insecure/petty person in sports history.
I'm a huge Shaq fan, I've always loved his comedian gentle giant personality but as big as he is..... he has an even bigger inferiority complex.
Like bruh, your so amazing, your legacy, tv , business, your funny, people love you..... why are you so petty and vindictive? You have everything someone could want
@@Kruppt808 Have you seen how much praise Shaq gives to Giannis, even repeatedly saying he's much better than him? This doesn't add up with that inferiority complex theory; Shaq's just a weird dude, unpredictable in who he likes/dislikes.

Shaq had the opportunity to mentor a lot of centers, but instead, he just trashed them consistently.
Ego. Thats why Barkley often always teasing him
Why would you want to get mentored by somebody that only made it because physical gifts? Not because of hard work or training. Love shaq but he mentoring mobody

Great case made for Dwight
He's dead wrong about Reggie Miller. WAY too much emphasis on All-NBA teams and completely ignoring that he was the best player on a moderately talented Pacers team that consistently were near the top of the Easter Conference for several years, made it to the Finals, and darn near beat Jordan's Bulls.

Nick is REALLY good at these takes. Give that man his flowers!! 💐💐
Totally agree. I was looking for someone else who thought that was wrong. Howard should be on the list, but not instead of or above Rodman. No way.
Dennis might be the only guy in league history who can legitimately claim that he could guard all 5 positions and do it effectively because he actually did it. That alone makes him a contender for GOAT defender which should suffice to make the list.

When Dwight Howard made all nba teams, remember that it was in a soft and dry center position. Dwight biggest competition at that position was Andrew Bynum. So using that he made more all nba teams over other guys isn’t fair when you consider that SF, and SG position are much deeper. While I agree that Dwight got snubbed that's actually a pretty good point. Take a guy like Paul Pierce. 4 all nba teams, no 1st teams.
