We love Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. It is even better in the fall! The last time we visited we overnighted at Indian Lake State Park, which allowed us to stop by Kitch-iti-kipi on our way up to Union Bay Campground in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. We went the first week of October. Unfortunately, that is Bear-hunting season so Konteka can't feed the bears during that time, so no bear watching when we stopped by there. The mild downside with fall camping there is that it seems like it is much more popular, there were a lot of people there. We never got around to the Nonesuch trail, we decided to skip it after being disappointed in the Union Gorge Falls (lack of water on that waterfall). Too bad you didn't have a chance to catch the waterfalls along the Black River Scenic Byway, they are very nice, and all short hikes. It makes for a great day trip. We didn't attempt the Escarpment trail either, as we figured the climb would probably be too much for us. Nice songs!
I have been there in the fall several times. One year my wife and I rented a backcountry cabin and another year I was tent camping at one of the Outpost campsites with my friend Kevin. It was so cold when Kevin and I were there that our water bottles froze. Lake of the clouds is gorgeous in Autumn! Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment!!
@@AVisceralLife We actually had unseasonably warm weather during our last stay. It got into the 80s! People were swimming in Union Bay (not a lot of people, and not for long). Unfortunately that meant the black flies came back out, but not until later in the week.
I am Blessed to live U.P. here. Winters are insane, but when it's all you know...it's just "another winter"...however, as everyone here says..."You HAVE to do it in the Fall". Anywhere in the U.P, in the fall is super busy as well..it's just too beautiful!

@@Cleo_and_Mark As they say, if you don't like the weather in Michigan just wait, it will change soon!
