    It’s very interesting how much more beneficial it is to train the shoulders when moving, rather than just in a standing position. It is logical that what is important for a fencer is not the static load on the shoulder, but the power work while moving. Do you think it is possible to transform exercises for shoulders so that a person does them while moving in a step?

      Yes, I think the olympic lift Clean and Jerk would be best here. The biggest issue with training muscles while moving is that it requires greater coordination and is thus more technical. This increases the risk of injury and the need for coaching of those specific movements. It's optimal, but there are trade-offs.

      @@HEMAStrong It seems to me that there is a possibility of harm from static exercises. They are performed with great comfort, as a result of which in a stressful situation, when the joints and bones are not at least slightly in the ideal position that was in static conditions, the athlete gets injured. It is necessary to investigate what risky trajectories for joints and ligaments arise in movement when training muscles. After all, the main load will ultimately be related to dynamics. Thanks for your video and answer!

    Was confused as to why I was not already subscribed to you guys, and then realized this is the first video listed for you heheh :) Keep up the good work, perusing your site right now to get a routine nailed down.

      Thanks, Aaron, appreciate it. You just kicked me in the pants to get a second video up (which is what I needed). If you need some routine help and are on Facebook, there are other fitness professionals in the group that are happy to offer their opinions. :)

    The first one was actually talked about by Matt Easton for one of his one-handed training practice videos! Just an FYI.

      Oh awesome, I didn't realize. One-handed would be a good starting point if two-handed weapons are too difficult at first.

      HEMA Strong i actually find sparring with single swords more exhausting than longsword.

    Nice advice! Regarding the actual movements: with endurance as a target, is better to do slow movements or fast ones?

      Nicolò Anesa slow! You can pause at the top portion too

    Hi Chuck, we started up a lightsaber guild, and many moves are taken from HEMA. I'm trying to come up with a good warm up for us. Could you make a video with stretches and other warm up activities that you slightly mentioned in this video? Thanks!

      Hey Seth! I can try to film our warmup next time we have class!

      That would be sweet! Just have someone whip out their phone. It doesn't have to be a high quality video :)

    My shoulders dislocate fairly easily; will this help with that?

    • @HEMAStrong
      @HEMAStrong  7 лет назад +1

      It might help some. Things like treating specific injuries are outside of my scope as a personal trainer though, so I'd recommend speaking to a medical professional for specific advice. With that said, this physical theraphy routine looks solid: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/dislocated-shoulder/Documents/100419shoulder%5B1%5D.pdf

    How's that sword, I'm getting my own soon. Is it tough enough to fence against other feders?

    • @HEMAStrong
      @HEMAStrong  6 лет назад

      I like it. Mine takes some burrs and is softer compared to the newer batch while is holding up fine against other feders.
