    SHE LOL. Yes, yes, I guessed right! Goin' for the mole!!! I can't wait to see more vids! You know what gave it away, I think Steven made some mention, or maybe both of you did, about not quite getting the culinary experiences you were after in QRO in the same sentence or two as moving on! So I thought, hmmmmmm . . . yeah, so glad y'all also found an apartment so soon. Good job!

    You are in for an adventure in Oaxaca! Such great food and culture. Favorite place for mole is out of town on the way to see the Barro negro and alejibre artists. Enjoy all the varieties of mole. The red is my favorite! There are great mescal factories close by since you liked mescal. The only mescal I like is rompope mescal (tastes like Baileys). Every year there is a huge week long pageant of dancers and cultural groups from all over Mexico that descend upon Oaxaca. Tickets are sold out months in advance. If you haven’t had a marquesita yet, try them! They are delicious!

    Oaxaca is great! One of the places I wish to visit. It is the HQ for archeologists since there are important Ancient Mayan sites nearby. I am fascinated by the Mayans and their history.
    One of the problems with Oaxaca is that it is 6000 feet above sea level. One (such as me, who is 72 years old) has to acclimatize to the altitude. Also: At that altitude a person will get severe sunburn faster. (I am told there are special sun-resistant, long sleeved shirts to help prevent that.)
    VIVA OAXACA!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    • @rayvogensen2983
      @rayvogensen2983 2 года назад

      In Oaxaca you won't find Mayan ruins. Those are in Yucatán. The Indians around Oaxaca were the Zapotecs. You can see their ruins at Monte Albán, and Mitla, among others.

    We’ll be in Queretaro first, for a year or two, living in our daughters house. But after that we have 5 more Mexico cities to check out ( Oaxaca, Morelia, Puebla, Guanajuato, and San Cristobal de las Casas ) and then in Guatemala we want to check out Antigua and Lake Atitlan.
    Glad you are in Oaxaca !
    From my research your cost of living may go down a little bit.

    Amazing how anyone can narrow down where to stay in Mx. Looking forward to your adventures there and around! My sister just got on a plane from her visit to Oaxaca city (back to pdx). She didn't see the radish decorations that may be tradition? She enjoyed the city a lot and took tours around.

      They actually had the radish festivities on Dec 23rd. We didn't get to go because we were in the middle of moving plus I was a bit under the weather. Maybe you will get to check it out in person one day. 😉

    How is the humidity? Earthquakes? We lived in Veracruz and it was so humid...even in the months that were supposedly cool...loved the city of Fortin De Las Flores and Cordoba..but that humidity was for the birds. Hope you have great weather there.❤️

    • @rayvogensen2983
      @rayvogensen2983 2 года назад

      Oaxaca has low humidity as it lies at an elevation of 1555 meters. The average high is 29º and the average low is 13º, so nights are cool. I lived for fifteen years in Brasilia, which is at 1000 meters elevation, and we had an average temperature of 27º and a low of around 17º. We had no air conditioning and never felt uncomfortable. Oaxaca is even colder at night.

    • @WhyNotNow
      @WhyNotNow  2 года назад +1

      So far, it has been very nice...we are in the Winter though. The climate is definitely nicer than its neighbor, Veracruz. Veracruz is very humid (so the locals say). 😉 Oaxaca does experience about 1/4 of all Mexico's earthquakes though..
