@@kingfisher7960 Whooooo boy. I'm about to blow your mind, buddy. Almost no one can use proper English these days. But it doesn't matter. Words throughout history have been thrown around by society, and given new meanings. For example, 99% of people(myself included) misuse the words "good" and "well" on a daily basis. An example of this would be the phrase "you did good". That statement is grammatically incorrect. it should be "you did well". But no one cares. Which is why *literally* every language has changed from its original rules. If you were to go back in time and talk to an english man about 1300 years ago, you would not be able to understand a single word coming out of his mouth. Our language has changed so much, and is still changing, to this day. TLDR: u big dum
Nice!!!... Note: MXR´s Carbon Copy, like the Tape Echo, also has controls for wave modulation. There are 2 screws inside de case. "Width" for max/min wave amplitude (how much the note goes up and down) and "speed" for modulation frequency (how fast that modulation would be). Having those settings inside the case has its pros and cons (one of them is that not everyone knows about them).
Love that guitar! With delays and reverbs, I always found sound better through an effects loop if your anp has one. If you go through the front of the amp it gets really washed out when using the dirty channel. Experimenting is key. Each brand paired with different amps, guitars, other effect reacts differently. Take some time to woodshed just testing pedals and placement in the chain. A few hours of work can make playing guitar way more pleasing to your ear. If you don't like your tone, subconsciously it will make your not want to play as much.
The first pedal I ever bought was a Boss Delay; back around 1995. It was recommended by a guy at Guitar Center; when I asked, “What is the first pedal I should buy?”. I never understood how to use it. Even now, I have a Flashback on my board and only use it to noodle around with U2 songs.
I dial mine in for 8 repeats per second. I start by turning the repeat rate down slow enough to count and then adjust the delay for 8 repeats. Then I increase the rate until I can fit all 8 repeats into a one second interval using a 60 bpm click track for reference. Then I adjust the level down so that it decays down to nothing by the end of 1 second. If I turn the level up any more than that, it ends up too screamy when I run it through distortion because it accentuates the harmonics so much it drowns out the fundamental. I also put delay before distortion in my signal chain. How I have it set up makes for some nice echos when I hit muted notes or slide up the fretboard while muting, and gives me a nice reverb sound the rest of the time. Putting delay before distortion makes the distortion sound more compressed and the delay sound thicker and juicier. Delay into distortion is something I learned back in the 80's from gothic rock and shoegaze. I don't think anybody back then ran distortion into delay; most musicians back then were still running delays into the front end of the amp. Emulating that is how you get the vintage psychedelic sound.
You make some great faces while playing the guitar. I know you have a few jokey videos here, you could just edit together a load of your best guitar gurning. Don't mean that as an insult, love the videos.
Just listen to U2, man, most of their songs especially the older ones got some delay effects. As we all know by now, Edge is for "delay" and Kirk Hammett is for "wah wah"...:)
Great video! As someone who've just recently began hoarding delay pedals, I fully support spreading the word about all the fun you can have with one - or preferably more;-)
Look for the Nux Time Core - amazing Bang for the buck! Goes for anywhere between 15-50 bucks but sounds and have features like something more expensive
Boss DD-3 is also a good alternative and can give you some unique sounds. And i know. Boss doesn't really offer too many good pedals out there. But there are some exceptions like the one i mentioned :D
Hey man wha's up? I'm really enjoying your videos! One question, a got a shitty amp and my sound sucks, could you recomend me any cheap amp that could help me improve my tone a little? Ofc I know a 50$ amp will suck, but something between 100 & 200$ would really help me. Thx!
Boss Katana 50 would be a good one, in my opinion (if you don't need an effects loop). The Katana 100 does have an effects loop, but it's 100 more. Or a red stripe Peavey Bandit or Studio Pro 112 (those do have an effects loop). You can upgrade them with a better speaker later on, too. The Peaveys cost very little on the used market.
Hey Tyler; in another video could you show the use of a volume control pedal and way pedal in use with delay, especially for ambient effects. thanks!!!
I always appreciated the tones of The deluxe memory man. Mike he comes home and eats his food food food. I know that might sound foolish I still have a deluxe memory man and he still tells Mikey to eat his fooooood Foooooooood foooooooooooood , thank you for a very nice video of echo and repeating and dialing in the crazy things that can happen with echo and repeating. Now go get yourself a nice Roland tape echo space echo 201 301 The fun begins on the bounce back . I have both holding onto my tapes and when Mikey comes home he eats his food food food food food food food food food food
You need to use your delays with a really good overdrive. I recommend sparkle Drive by voodoo lab. Your delays with distortion would sound better. I don't care for some of your delay tones. Your edge Delay sound needs tweaking especially with your technique.
Hi everyone! I'm a beginner guitar player and I am getting myself new gear. I was thinking of getting the Blade Player Texas PTH 3 guitar and Line6 Spider IV 75 amp. What are your thoughts?
It depends on the genre you've been playing, or want to play. And Id go for something other than a Line 6 because of how processed they sound, you want a clean signal, so maybe a Fender Frontman or a Blackstar, maybe even a smaller solid state Marshall for the price. But I'd recommend something like a JS32 Dinky from Jackson, a Squier Stratocaster, or an Epiphone Les Paul for a beginner guitar. It depends on the player and the style though, man! Do some research for what you want to play, and Rock On. \m/
hey. I have Carbon Copy.. it sounds sweet with clean channel but with distorted one it's mix is too low (I cant hear delay and need to put mix knob all the way up) Is it normal? thanks in advance.
sandro kaishauri Well you have it where it should be, might just be the pedal, I don't have that one, I do have the fullbore metal though, love that thing
thanks for helping me buddy. i read about my problem and some say that carbon copy does nor have enough high frequency to work with extreme distortion or something. thank you a lot anyways ^^
You couldn't possibly have nixed the signal corruption could you? Not wanting to be judgmental ..."Just find it irrepressibly distracting to deal with the buzz!
Been playing almost 25 years and this is the best delay use vid I've seen. Bravo.
Eh, Andy Othling's atmospheric tones are better imo.
I love how you literally always upload before I wake up in the morning. you make a working college student's life great!

Stop using 'literally'....your generation has been identified by the misuse of the English language.

When I got my Ibanez analog delay pedal back in the late `70s I totally vegged out for days playing with it.
i have an old ibanez effects rack and the analog delay and chorus are teh only ones I use.
Haha nice vid "I just turn the nobs and when it sounds good it sounds good"
knobs have a silent K bro...you kinda look stupid.

I would really appreciate it if you did this for more pedals. That would be awesome. Thanks for the awesome content.
That tune at the end was awesome
Love all your reviews man that helps a lot to understand what most of these pedals can do!. Thanks for taking your time bro to explain!...

what about the Brighton Rock solo?
Why are you wearing two T-shirts?
It's cold?
Because he lost the third
Oscarbennewton Probably has alot of underarm sweat.
Delay T-Shirt. Two repeats. Two. Two.
Oscarbennewton One is a Carbon Copy of the other.

if I ever met you i would buy you a beer! lol
That was awesome! That jam was a cool expo of delay-ism. Huzzah!
Legitimately got this pedal yesterday

Lucas Iozzi ibanez de7 and dan electro dan echo
Most people wont agree, but if your on a really tight budget, Behringer makes really good pedals from $20-$50 (The vintage delay is $25)
I got a Joyo Time Magic which is pretty awesome.
simply love ur videos.

great jam.. as always
Sick groove
ghost turned the repeats knob 3:56
PUNK Roc damn creepy
Man im thinking to buy the MXR carbon copy.
What do you think about it? I would love to listen to your advice ;)
Greetings from Greece ;)
I like the Tech21 boost delay.
Short 6th and 7th chords with delay sound good. No root, also flat the major to make it minor. Its a Trey Anastasio thing
Use an analog delay
And a wah
Thanks Tyler, and Happy New Year to both of you x

I'm surprised how low this video is when I searched delay. Shit's dank bro
9:07. Ive always wondered what makes that screeching techno sound. Is it delay or just distortion?
thank youu
