You should've tested the FDUCE SL40 with XLR instead of USB C. The USB-C is muddy compared to using the XLR input on it. The SL40X can be found for even 25USD but only has an XLR input.
ANOTHER great video, Stephen! I just wanted to comment on the mics, from an outside perspective: IMHO, the Fifine was far more well-balanced, with absolutely no tweaks, than the FDUCE SL40. I found the latter to have too much mid to low low frequency and not nearly enough of the high frequency. Maybe part of that was due to the windscreen? Either way, out of the box, having listened to so many of your videos, the Fifine deserves a ton more credit and I'd go as far as to even recommend it to my fellow hosts if they were in the market for an upgrade~
I think a lot of this comes down to taste, it’s so subjective. I think Stephen prefers a lot of bass in his audio, whereas I prefer less. So for me, the Fifine sounded like the best of the bunch. I didn’t at all like how the FDUCE SL 40 sounded due to its much more pronounced bass sensitivity.
@@maxillariadendrobulum4079 I totally agree on subjectivity! Some of my hosts sound far better with MORE mid-frequency and less mid-to-low frequency! I guess I was merely basing my observations on the sound Stephen typically goes for in his videos in terms of his own voice. I'm kind of an audiophile so I love listening to out-of-the-box microphone tests, too, so this was a real treat
Great points. After listening to the video several times the FDUCE was more bassy on more speakers then I realized. Would take a lot of EQ to roll that off. For a budget mic, the ATR 2100X is still one of my favorites.
I work with Shure SM7Bs alot and they are in a league of their own, but I am not gonna lie, bought 2 of these FDuce microphones next to an MV7, I notice that the FDuce mics have become the daily user lmao the sound is nice and deep, and it gives great bang for the buck for streaming. I would not go more expensive for just streaming purposes.. it sounds very good for the money and comes really close to the MV7.
Just remember that bottom end, the muddy sound on the FDuce is hard to get rid of. Also, clarity is key on podcast so everything can be heard. Good way to do comparisons though
you're right, it's a little bass heavy. But you can EQ that to get a clearer sound. In this video, there was no EQ on any mic to show it's natural tendencies.
Yes it comes with a cable, and if you're editing the audio specifically on iPad, highly recommend Ferrite: apps.apple.com/us/app/ferrite-recording-studio/id1018780185
Hello friend, thanks for the elaborate video! I currently have the Audio-Technica ATR2100x and I have a question, which model has more volume in USB mode, Samson ATR 2100x or FDUCE SL40? I understand that the volume of the FDUCE SL40 is low in USB mode, I need it to do live shows through streaming and I need it to be heard loud and clear. A greeting and thanks in advance!! 🤟
I’ll add, because I didn’t specify WHY it sounds better to me in my previous comment, that its bass is much less pronounced. To me the atr2100x sounds balanced and more neutral which is my preference, but for some reason so many podcasters are all about that bass.
After listening back to this video several times, the FDUCE is def bassy. That can be EQ’d out some (I left all these flat for a reasonable comparison). But I really do like the ATR 2100X as a starter to intermediate mic.
@@Riversidefm thanks for the reply. I love the look of the FDUCE and the funny name has grown on me, but the atr2100x sounds much more true and neutral. I'd rather eq from a neutral sound i think.

Ah we'll have to try it! We were doing USB mics specifically in this one.
@@Riversidefm nice usb test with sm7b!)
Oh yeah! I could definitely hear the muddiness of the FDUCE with speakerphones. Jeez!

It's a solid choice, for sure!

It's true! You can find great quality and budget prices.
I have that fduce its incredible sound made me happy at the low price but good sound
Nice to hear from a real-world user!

Thanks! Definitely would need to EQ the FDUCE for clarity, but my fav is still the ATR 2100X?
FDuce has XLR which is much less muddy, but I would not recommend USB recording anyway if sound quality is your goal.
Super helpful! Thanks!
Only question.. Your audio was the best when not using a mic at all. What were you using to record when not using a mic?
I agree, the off camera mic sounded great!
I believe it's a Sennheiser boom mic, just above his head. It's super sweet! Would love to do this, but you really need a well sound treated room!
Thanks! I’m using the Sennheiser MKH416 shotgun mic: amzn.to/3TECRpn
Yes, treating the room is very important! It’s the MKH 416

Everyone praises the sound of fduce, me personally think its to beefy and bass heavy....maybe i dont know much about sounds

I really love the fifine. The best of the cheap options
Do you use it regularly?

I would recommend sticking with the ATR 2100X! Has tons of volume for that kind of use case.
@@Riversidefm Gracias! 🤜🤛
I saw a fifine microphone for sale at Micro Center a couple of days ago.
In the real world! Nice
Fduce ❤
It's pretty good!
Fduce bu mikrofon gerçekten hayallere kırık düşürdü
It's pretty bassy, but you can EQ some of that out in post! This was with a flat EQ
Maybe my ears is damage… fduce need EQ… all the others is ok”… I like the ATR2100X
ATR2100X is a great value for sure
Knockoffs always have harder to pronounce names for some reason lol

The FIFINE seems fifine to me
*Cymbal crash* 😏 but yes, it's not bad!
Fduce sl40 is better mic I have seen
Will check it out!
@@Riversidefm yes please check it its amazing i swear
FDUCE = Radioman
Exactly
The FDUCE sounds very bassy. Do you really think it compares to the atr2100x?
I have the ATR2100X, and to my ears, it sounds way better. During Black Friday audio technica had it on sale for $29. What a deal!
@@maxillariadendrobulum4079 oh wow. That's a deal! Yea the FDUCE sounds so boomy to me.

Why does everyone use the SM7B for comparison for a $50 mic?? Please stop
Fair point, it's the most popular podcasting mic but will compare to other USB mics like the MV7 as well!
Bro in usb which performs better for youtube videos 😢
FDuce is a great option via USB
