I primarily s my p in my car. Occasionally outside when the circumstances are right. Never indoors. I'm looking forward to seeing your on-the-go kit and any tips you have for s'ing in your vehicle.
Apartment dwelling urbanite here. Very limited inside smoking options. Sometimes, I'll smoke at a local cigar lounge, but then I have to buy a cigar, which is expensive. I smoke on my work commute in my truck. I mostly smoke while walking the dog in the evening. When the weather is nice, I smoke at cafes in the outdoor seating. My city has all the standard anti tobacco hysteria cities have nowadays, but the local neighborhood is populated mostly by Portuguese and Brazilians, and they're much less uptight about smoking than people in other neighborhoods are. Business owners are less likely to enforce city wide smoking ordinances. One Portuguese cafe has a covered outside area with heat built specifically for smokers. It's like a little European vacation, it's fantastic. A comfortable place to smoke with very good coffee and cafe snacks.
Now that sounds like a very pleasant little enclave!
I have an enclosed porch, with some good furniture and coffee table. There's even one of those faux-fireplace style space heaters in there for the winter. Except on the hottest and coldest days, its as good as a room in the house.

I smoke outside, either on my 2nd flor porch or on my back patio. Typically, the weather cooperates here in San Diego. I'm either reading, watcing my hummingbird buddies, or thinking about how to finish my backyard project.

Hi I mostly smoke my pipe outside, gardening or walking the dogs. Long car journeys I love a bowl or 2. When I drive to the Alps from Oxford a few weeks ago I had 4 bowls on the journey. Never had any negative comments smoking a pipe, only compliments or questions. I can smoke indoors especially in winter but to be honest I prefer a pipe in the garden. All the best.

That whole segment with you and the Printer was comedy gold Bradley. I honestly have never seen anyone in my small town smoking a Pipe so I am not even sure what, if any, options there are up here in Canada for it. I suspect it falls under the same Guidelines as Cigs and Vapes. Meaning absolutely nothing in public spaces.
I've seen a few people around, but yes, still very rare.

Primarily porch for me, but I will bring it with me if I'm going to a bar with a patio or something as well. Similarly I've only had positive reactions, a lot of "reminds me of my grandfather".
Always outdoors in my case, but at home though and definitely under the cover of a porch. Which is OK by me even in the coldest of winters. Like most P Sers, I have a kit for when I go away, and I never get any negative comments either. I notice that when I am near anyone S’ing a Cigarette, I can definitely smell the difference. I am often amazed by how different it is to the P.
I smoke in my truck/mobile office all day, I also smoke in my home office and my shop. Once in a while I smoke out in the living room, but I am careful to smoke something my wife likes the smell of when out there. I don't like to smoke while walking, but I do have a few spots I like to walk to and sit down for a bowl while my dog runs around.
outdoors - I CAN use the garage but - i would say only really in winter
I can't enjoy my pipes inside anymore. So. I typically do so on my porch. But the big problem I have is that where I'm at in Ohio, the weather sucks almost always. The winters are cold and wet the summers are hot and humid.
S'ing my "P" on the go, the most memorable moment, was when my buddy would go upstairs from the basement to have a last cigarette late in the evening and I would follow with my pipe smoking a quite good local blend of Ukrainian something. It wasn't bad and we chatted until the rockets and artillery the Russians were throwing got so much that putting out the lights and going back downstairs was a safer idea for our own health. I recorded our conversations when we did this, with the inevitable ending being crashing of explosion in the area. No, we weren't military, just civvies delivering aid in Kherson to civilians in a civilian city.
i'm always outsde. Pretty rough in the winter time, Wind is also a bit of a pain. I travel with my cob and little pouch. Heck I'm outside right now with my pipe.

Hello, Bradley- I’m relegated to outside while I smoke a pipe. It used to be my garage, until my wife began catching on to my location, so I have since set up a spot in our backyard. I often will see a spot while I’m out and about and think it would be a nice spot to return and enjoy a bowl, but never do for some reason. Anyways, I feel your new frustrations of a hobby that has to be an out of the house pursuit. Cheers, Alex

I'm very lucky that my SO lets me do it inside in the living room or bedroom. We live in a small townhouse. I used to do it while i drive but do not do that much lately. Ill bring a mini cellar when we go on trips and will do it outside or in the car in those situations. I used to have to do it outside in the DC area and would get besieged by mosquitoes 😂. I don't miss that

I smoke on my back porch when I’m home and the mosquitoes aren’t out. Although I’m improving the back porch so that it will be more comfortable. I also smoke in my car. And if I didn’t have small children I would at the park but for the moment if I am at a park I am accompanied by my kids so I can’t focus on enjoying a pipe.
Mosquitos... Luckily something we don't have to worry about here!
These days i usualy "s" my "p" or a "c" while walking my dog, since my mancave (garden shed) has turned in to some sort of storage for random garbage 🤣
If you can't even relax in your own home and enjoy a pipe that's a pretty big problem, or at least it would be for me. That is almost exclusively where I smoke my pipe, in my own home sitting in my recliner. That is where I relax. I don't think I'd smoke a pipe if I could only smoke on the go, and if I couldn't do whatever I wanted in my own home I definitely wouldn't like that.
As I mentioned in my last comment, my go to spot is a place in the park. I have a bench that sits next to a walking trail that sees very little activity. Here in Florida its usually breezy, and the last few weeks proved to be more than just a breeze. Naturally I had to deal with a little heated bowl on these days. The handful of people that walk by haven't given me any grief (thankfully) and one person said to me "respect for the pipe, man". I haven't had any compliments on the smell, but I haven't had any negative feedback either, so all is good.
It's definitely nice to have your "spot."
My go to place to s my p is at O’Rourke’s Irish Pub in Maysville, KY. It is a block away from where I live. I can smoke indoors. I usually order water and coffee (meh). Once in a while, I will order a KY bourbon to pair with the pipe. I love it.

backyard if the weather is good, I love in vegas so 8 months out the year it's hot, and for 4 of those 8 it's stupid hot, So I'll S my P in my garage/shop/man cave with evaporative coolers keeping it under 90. Usually for 3 hours on Saturday or Sunday.
I am not allowed to smoke in the home. 😢. I S on my patio or in the garage. I also S in my car. Windows cracked and never S with the inside air recycling. That takes forever to clear, but as long as I don't do that, the car doesn't smell.

I smoke outdoors with no cover. I'm in Canada, so it's only a fairweather hobby for me. I've never had a negative interaction with anyone, but many positive ones. On a side note, do you ever have days where you just don't taste much of anything while smoking?

Back in 2007, James Rolfe from Cinemassacre made an episode of You Know What's BS, ranting about printers. It's crazy that printers haven't changed at all in the last 17 years, and that video is still relevant today. I would say printers have gotten worse since then because of the expansion of DRM. BS I can't scan this document because the black printer ink is out! Every time this topic comes up on Reddit, everyone says to switch to a Brother laser printer. But I think it's still important to do your research prior to replacing your printer, or any technology.
Re: s-ing you p. Are you able to find a gazebo or a tented area? I enjoy the rain in Japan, but maybe not necessarily being in the rain! But it's nice if you're in a patio area or something where you can still be outside, but not in it. Japan too has the problem with wind, but we also have typhoons to contend with during the summertime.
The ink cartridges are definitely a scam! I've been looking into the printers that you can refill with your own ink.

I have a small outdoor area surrounded by nature that only shields me from sun. Wind and rain.. I just have to pick my moments and roll with it.
It is always windy here as well. Lighting is always and issue. I go through unburned butane very quickly. What are your thoughts on Zippo's? Is there a hi wind pipe lighting apparatus you would recommend?

Zippos actually really do work in the wind, particularly if they're the ones made for pipe lighting. The key is to replace the wick frequently. Most people don't even know you can replace the wick. If the wick is in good condition it dramatically increases the lighters functionality in the wind.
Zippo is my go to in the wind.
I generally smoke in the backyard or the garage.
I live at the beach and yes, always a good wind going at all times. It's the 99 degree day, it's still , ugh. I rent, so I always go outside. I have two porchs that I can sit on the stairs or walk around the property. But my favorite pipe of the day is in the morning when I walk 1.5 miles on the beach. Great therapy for my strength in my leg and work on my balance. I also like when I look after my neighbors dog,I walk many times of the day and always have a pipe. I am not sure if I would smoke in a house, I think I would always do it in the garage or a shed. Yes, "shed happns" shed that I do my videos in. Great little shed I can get away from wind and poor weather if I want a pipe. Has a chair and can relax for sometimes 2 bowls. Now summer, I have a to go pipe bag. Always have a pocket tobacco pack filled with a tobacco incase I need to leave quickly.
We don't have the weather you have there obviously, or the same kind of beach (we have rocks, not sand). It makes me a little envious, but I couldn't deal with the heat.

Interesting question: I smoke in my car, mostly idling on the public street in front of my place because the building owner not only prohibits smoking in the residence, but on the entire property. I've probably met more people just by making eye contact and waving/smiling than I normally would otherwise, and no one has ever said a negative word about either a pipe or a cigar, which I find interesting because neither are very usual, though neither are cigarettes, which people really seem to dislike, especially in my little hippie town.
That sounds similar to here. People don't seem to mind the smell of weed at all, which I find much worse and more lingering than cigarettes even.

If it's an issue possibly with a landlord or something like that, I would talk to them and just tell them that you don't smoke cigarettes, you just smoke a pipe and maybe an occasional cigar. Ask if it would be all right to designate a room as a lounge and put a good quality air purifier like they use in cigar lounges in that room, they may be okay with that. If they are reasonable I bet they would, especially if you could actually show them which air purifier you were going to get and they were feeling assured that no harm would be done to the room as you are buying a high quality air purifier.
That might work in some situations, but this is a large, corporate-run building. If i really wanted to, I could probably get away with smoking inside with an air purifier, but I'm okay with not smoking inside most of the time. Maybe I'll do it occasionally when I need to do a review and it's raining outside.
it really depends on the blend to be honest, If I'm outdoors I'll P/S if I'm by water, the car's tricky but do able, if I'm indoors gasp it depends on the blend. if the blend is heavy on the nicotine I'll P/S the heavy stuff at the slowest rate possible, last bowl of Macbarens HH Bold Kentucky lasted me 4 hours but it was inside, these days I'm experimenting with Mammoth Cave Twist outdoors, there's no videos about it but it will blow your socks off it smells like a wet dog and has a deep red virginia taste, numerous relights is light foreplay, I switched from dip to P/S and my quality of life has improved after switching to P/S. going through career change from an office to construction wouldn't dare bring my briar to work but I look forward to it after work, thanks for producing interesting content

I just step outside onto the front or back porch. Both are covered. Only because I plan to sell this house. My next home will be my last I hope, and I will 'S' inside it. But will likely step outside if it is nice enough. It will be in a more warm and humid region, than is the PNW, though.

When I'm essing (not recently) it's on the front porch, in the back yard by the chimenea, or at various bars with outdoor areas for essing, or the strip club where you can ess indoors, and should.
