Thank you for being two of the most real reactors on RUclips. Love your reactions. The Last Waltz won't disappoint you. So many great artists. You could react to every song
Aren't these two the coolest? There is such sincerity, and they are so obviously in love. They're the closest thing I've ever seen to a perfect couple!
They were so great, then and now -- not a commercial band but a friendship of genuine musicians. And Levon, throughout this epic film, is a special treat to watch.
Levon and the Band are just down-to-earth..Folk Rock band....very simple!!! No...complications....and the rawness of their performance grips your heart. love this band!!!
Honestly. yours are the BEST kind of reactions, because we can tell when music is reaching someone's heart and soul - and then we remember that it did the very same thing to us when we first heard it so many years ago! I may have said it to you before, but please don't feel that you have to save everything for the channel. Go ahead and enjoy the whole movie in one sitting for your own private enjoyment. That is the way it was meant to be experienced!
The Last Waltz is my favorite thing of all time. I've watched it so many times and soooo wish I'd been there for the concert . You must watch it, with a few wines 🍷 also includes lots of chats with the band. love from New Zealand x
I love your reaction. I have 7 years old when I record this movie (Art, Live, Movie......) the thing's I love is my family and for the music. I grow up whit this Feeling and this Soul. I love whit your wife, when she readthis feeling, I love you both. I' m Italian but this Soul is unique in the entire world. Thanks for your's feeling
The Band is really the perfect name for them because all five guys brought something unique and marvelous to the group. My biggest reservation about the Last Waltz is that it captures Richard Manuel at such a low point. As great as Levon and Rick are Richard is so special, whether tying the harmonies together from bass notes to falsetto or singing the most heartwrenching leads ever. A singular talent but just a total trainwreck. He brought so much joy to his bandmates and so many listeners like me, just wish he could've been happier.
I lived in Colorado Springs for a few years and visited Cripple Creek several times. They have wild donkeys roaming the town, it was so cool! Love the band.
Do you guys understand that THE BAND was Bob Dylan's backing band starting in 1965 when Dylan decided to "go electric", a historic moment in rock. They were known as THE HAWKS then. After a few years with Dylan, and a famous album that became a "Holy Grail" of unreleased music, called The Basement Tapes. After that, they decided to write their own songs and albums so they decided the simple name THE BAND fit perfectly (mainly because people would go see Dylan, and always say, "who is that Band up there backing Dylan?". The Band strikes home for so many because of their Americana rootsy backwoods feel. Ironically 4 of the 5 were Canadians , Levon Helm, the drummer and lead vocalist, was the only American from Arkansas. He gave The Band that Southern folksy bluesy feel with his strong voice. But they had 3 lead vocalists, with the soft quiet voice of piano player Richard Manual, and the more upbeat unusual warble of bass guitarist Rick Danko. Plus, The Band members all played multiple instruments and would frequently switch instruments during a show. And they would play old more traditional instruments. Fiddles, accordians, mandolins and occasional brass. They were in many ways the "anti-psychedelic" band of the late 60s when the west coast was all into the Summer of Love, with Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, The Grateful Dead leading the way. The Band seemed old fashioned, out of place and thus were a stark contrast. Their music was about more rural themes, the fall harvest, the carnival coming through a small town, an old rocking chair on a porch, the sound of the wind whispering through the pine forest. Their first TWO albums, MUSIC FROM BIG PINK, and the BROWN ALBUM simply called THE BAND, are both essential albums full of classics.
@MerchantOfAlba I highly recommend you checking out when you get time: >The NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN (written by Robbie Robertson, lead guitarist of The Band, about the South (Confederate) perspective of the American Civil War, sung by Southerner Levon Helm giving it that added legitimacy. But actually made into a hit by the beautiful voice of Joan Baez, so her version is must hear too. >WHISPERING PINES (Richard Manual) >UNFAITHFUL SERVANT (Rick Danko lead vocal) > KING HARVEST (WILL SURELY COME) those songs all feature a different lead vocalist to get a more complete picture. And yes, a reaction of just the music performances from The last Waltz would be very welcome. Both Eric Clapton and Beatle George Harrison inquired if they could JOIN The Band!
Don't forget that "The Band" was Ronnie Hawkins' band before teaming up with Bob Dylan! And the Canadians are Robbie Robertson (guitar), Rick Danko (bass), Richard Manuel (piano/vocals), and Garth Hudson (organ)!
@WordslingingStephen Yes, I could have added that, but my post was long enough and backing Dylan was more historically significant. And I mentioned that The Band had one American and the rest were Canadian.
I loved your reaction, and your reactions are simply why I and so many others invest their time watching you channel. You are real, honest and enthusiastic when music moves you. Thank you again and again for bringing such joy as we, who know so many of these great tunes and performances see them through your eyes for the first time. Blessings on you both!
Wow, thank you! We are very happy to hear so many enjoy our videos. We have so much fun discovering these beautiful artists from all around the world 🌎💚
Haven’t played my vinyl for decades, still remember all the lyrics. A terrific ‘Band’, Have a few of The Band albums I bought in the 1970s, all my vinyl stored away safely - here in Australia 😊
I love your enthusiasm for the music ,guys ! Did you know that a well respected Rock critic once said that singing lead and playing drums on a song was as difficult as flying 2 jets at the same time ? The late ,great Mr Levon Helm did it so easily and brilliantly as like breathing ..a remarkable talent as a musician of the highest order . Amongst all drummers ,he earned their entire respect and admiration with his work ...they thought that this guy was the real item . Best wishes from Scotland and keep those The Band videos coming . Oh and by the way ,when you finally watch The Last Waltz in it's entirety ,my only advice is that THIS FILM SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD ! Enjoy ....
As usual, I loved the reaction! I’m sure it’s been said before, but The Band had three lead singers with Levon being the main singer. You’ve heard bassist Rick Danko sing on The Weight, but you should check out him on It Makes No Difference from The Last Waltz! I think that you’ll both love it! And I’d suggest The Shape I’m In also from The Last Waltz featuring keyboardist Richard Manuel on vocals! Another great song! Cheers!
Each song from this concert is a masterpiece! You really do need to see the whole thing. Decades ago our local movie theater had midnight showings of concert movies on Friday nights. Saw this one over and over, had it on VHS, and have watched it numerous times on RUclips. It truly never gets old!
Levon was an actor too. You might want to check out Coal Miner's Daughter starring a young Sissy Spacek. Levon played her father. "Raised in rural Kentucky poverty and married at the age of 13, Loretta Lynn (Sissy Spacek) begins writing and singing her own country songs in her early 20s. With the tireless help of her husband Oliver "Mooney" Lynn (Tommy Lee Jones), Loretta rises from local honky-tonks and small-time record deals to national tours and hit singles, befriending her idol Patsy Cline (Beverly D'Angelo) and becoming a country music icon despite the toll stardom takes on her family and her marriage." You'll hear a lot of traditional country music!
He also played Ridley in The Right Stuff, and did the narration. I believe his final film was Shooter with Mark Wahlberg. I love his voice so much. Both singing and spoken.
"The Band" was a Canadian-American rock band formed in 1967. They started out as the "Hawks", the backing group for singer Ronnie Hawkins & later they were the back up band for Bob Dylan. Their most popular songs included "The Weight" & "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". But they had a lot of other great songs such as "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)", "The Shape I'm In", "Ophelia", "It Makes No Difference" etc.
Music from Big Pink was the Band's first album, released in 1968. Their music was something completely different, old and yet new, tight and yet loose, playful and yet express deep sorrow. Every song on that first album is worth a listen. It altered the course of rock music. Many follow up albums contained more great songs until their break up in 1978, which is memorialized in The Last Waltz. They hit hard.
Gosh, you two are a breath of fresh air. So much uninhibited authenticity in your reactions and interactions with one another. Levon, from Turkey Scratch Arkansas, went on to be a great actor appearing in Coal Miner's daughter, The Right Stuff and other acclaimed movies. As for his solo work, he won three grammies in a row for best Americana album.
Hey from New Mexico, USA. In Denver there is an annual concert where local bands perform the Last Waltz concert. It was around '07-'09 I had a blast. Hopefully still going. It was around 600 people but it probably grew since then
Hello from Canada. Growing up in the seventies, canadian radio has can/con. This is Canadian Content and stations had to play about 30% of it and so we heard The Band music assuming everybody was listening....turns out they did have a strong following in the US too. Glad you enjoy Robbie and the boys. You might enjoy Ken Tobias music from that era.
That's the beauty of real music. You don't have to know WHY you love it, you just LOVE IT!....Once again, thank you for your lovely reactions to a lot of my favorites. Still dying to see you guys react to Jackson Browne's "Runnin' On Empty" because I know you will adore it! 1000% certain of that!
For another song with the same theme, a woman who takes care of a drunk, check out the Grateful Dead's Sugar Magnolia. Some of the most American lyrics you'll ever hear, and a great rocker.
I saw them twice in concert, and they were amazing. Great idea to watch The Last Waltz, a fabulous movie with some of all time greatest musicians performing with The Band. I saw it 5 times. I hope you react to their song from the movie called It Makes No Difference.
This is pure ear candy. The studio version pioneered the use of wah-wah pedal on a clavinet, a sound that became standard in much funk music thereafter.
Levon is amazing, but the bassist with the cracks voice sing some amazing Band songs too. Start with Stagefright, it will melt you ever loving heart. Enjoy!
If you enjoy The Band watch The Last Waltz. I’ve been watching it at least twice a year for decades, just for the great music, the great Vibe and for the wonderful visit with a disappearing world. All Respect to the last surviving member Garth Hudson ❤️😎❤️
I really love watching your reactions. I especially love how the two of you communicate with each other and enjoy the music together. I actually look forward to your episodes with longer discord. It's obvious to see that you are both very much in love with each other and it brings me joy to know that such wholesome and pure love is still in abundance in this world. I also enjoy the music you choose to react to; I'll do what I can to support your channel. Keep the good opinions coming!
Sit down and listen to their second album (brown cover, just called "The Band"); almost every song is wonderful. . . and if it doesn't quite hit you the first listen, it will on the second. Also, I saw them live in 1969 (I was 18), and it stands as the finest live show I ever saw.
As beautiful as Levon is singing and playing drums here, you have to react to something featuring him somewhere between 2008 and 2012 those last years before he past as 72 were so prolific with amazing live collaborations.
You must watch the movie The Last Waltz!! I had it on video along with the multi disc CD set. I know all the songs forward and backward. And, I never get sick of them ❤❤
Levons later solo work has been classified as Americana genre. He won several Grammy awards later in his career in that genre, even after he had been through bouts of throat cancer. His voice isnt as sweet as earlier but has a very realness about it and his songs are honest. Try "Poor Old Dirt Farmer or A Train Robbery" from his album Dirt Farmer. Its clean pure and distilled Levon at his best.
My daughter-in-law spent two years living in Paris, and she watched this movie multiple times then, because it was one of the few things she could find on television that was broadcast in English. I highly recommend you get the movie and watch it. You'll totally enjoy it!
"The Last Waltz" was a peak of civilization. The master concert promoter BILL GRAHAMS hand prints are all over the show. It would be worth learning about Bill, who made more music than anyone without touching an instrument.
The unfortunate thing about The Last Waltz is the camera equipment at the time couldn’t run for the entire show without overheating. Because of that they lost a lot of footage but the audio remains. If you can find it get a copy of the 4 disc cd version and you’ll get the entire performance from that night. I’d like to suggest their performance of Don’t Do It live at the academy of music in 1971.
Levon (Leave On) Helm is a great drummer, singer and actor ( Coal Miner's daughter/Shooter) and most likely the leader of the band (except that Robbie Robertson, guitar, thinks he was the leader......ha ha ) This was Eric Clapton' s favorite band of the later 60s claiming they were the "real thing". Levon lived in Woodstock NY and had a barn converted into a recording studio/venue. Many artists had gone up, spent weeks living and recording on the farm to get a great product, sometimes live with a crowd of a few hundred cheering.
Check out the song “it makes no difference” from this same concert, except Rick Danko the bass player sings lead on this song.😊 Your sincere delight with the band has made me subscribe to your channel.
The Band has some great albums. Their first one "Music from Big Pink" is excellent, but Their second album "The Band" is their best one, and had "Up on Cripple Creek". Another album that is great is "Northern Lights Southern Cross", which has the songs "It Makes No Difference", and "Acadian Driftwood".
This album has a lot in common with {the band { White mansions . about the "merican " civil war . All the songs are heart felt , from the perspective of an old man that still holds his grey top coat up in honor . Hope vou two will lean an ear to this album.
This band and their singer have the same effect on me! I recently went on a deep dive and watched several movies, a read multiple books all about their history. It is soooo interesting!! Levon Helm had an acting career after the Band broke up. He played Loretta Lynn's father in Coal Miners Daughter. Excellent movie
Thank you for being two of the most real reactors on RUclips. Love your reactions. The Last Waltz won't disappoint you. So many great artists. You could react to every song
Yes, agree 100%. They realize it's about the music more than it's about them.
The Band expresses a contagious joy in the form of their unvarnished musical style.
While you're on the Last Waltz you have to listen to "It Makes No Difference"
Guaranteed to bring you to tears .
What an Iconic Band…what a GREAT CONCERT! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😊
This band cured me of my adolescent need for endless guitar solos. This sound is rich and full of soul.
I was 13 when I first watched The Last Waltz on German TV and it completely changed my taste in music. You both will love it I'm sure.
I was serving in W Germany in the '70s and watched this at the cinema in Herford. Can't wait until you do Coyote by Joni Mitchell from this concert.
The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down from the Last Waltz is also beyond incredible
Honestly. yours are the BEST kind of reactions, because we can tell when music is reaching someone's heart and soul - and then we remember that it did the very same thing to us when we first heard it so many years ago! You both are amazing when it comes to reacting. I love seeing your excitement!
Love you guys. You're genuine reactions are wonderful.
Folks, I haven't previously experienced so much secondhand joy in my life. Thanks.
You two give off positive vibes. 😊👍👍
There are so many great guests walk on stage during this concert Dominique. Talk about star studied. You MUST watch it !!!!
Better react to every song
The Last Waltz is my favorite thing of all time. I've watched it so many times and soooo wish I'd been there for the concert . You must watch it, with a few wines 🍷 also includes lots of chats with the band. love from New Zealand x

Love how you educate yourselves about the songs, places and people and give us a little teaching moment.
I lived in Colorado Springs for a few years and visited Cripple Creek several times. They have wild donkeys roaming the town, it was so cool! Love the band.
Their will never be another Levon, he was a real gift to music and the world. God never put breath in a greater man.

Yes, I could have added that, but my post was long enough and backing Dylan was more historically significant. And I mentioned that The Band had one American and the rest were Canadian.
Shout out to the drummers/singers out there (my brother included). 🥁 Never ceases to amaze me how the heck they can do all that and do it so well 🎶🎵💚
Perhaps it's their passion revealed in each and every song that moves us so much
I loved your reaction, and your reactions are simply why I and so many others invest their time watching you channel. You are real, honest and enthusiastic when music moves you. It makes me smile to see y'alls reaction to this song/band we all loves so much through the years.
I love that you love The Band!!! ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦❤️
This is exactly the kind of wife every guy needs... LoL..sweet Bessie..

This gut punch music. It hit you right where you live.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love to see others enjoy music as much as I do. Dance, Dominika. Bend those air-guitar strings, Andrei. Feel the music! ☮❤🎶
An older man I used to know always said: "Ain't no shame if the music moves ya".
"Hey Ridley... got any Beemans ?"
The Right Stuff (1983)
Levon Helm a man of many talents including number one gum carrying man 😊👍 🇺🇲
You can't go wrong with The Band! ❤Fabulous listening😊

They were all together with Ronnie Hawkins in "1961".....
The Band. All but one are gone. RIP.
My same thought too. RIP.
Fabulous reaction!!! You are the best. Also from The Last Waltz are Ophelia, and It Makes No Difference. You guys would looooove them.
I think it is one of the five Greatest Performances of all time.
Thanks for making me smile, again!
Music from Big Pink was the Band's first album, released in 1968. Their music was something completely different, old and yet new, tight and yet loose, playful and yet express deep sorrow. Levon was a gift
You have to listen to Ophelia from the Last Waltz also, my favorite song by the Band
With Levon on drums and Rick on the bass, how can you not dance? Those guys were so rhythmic and funky!
Hey from New Mexico, USA. In Denver there is an annual concert where local bands perform the Last Waltz concert. It was around '07-'09 I had a blast. Hopefully still going. It was around 600 people but it probably grew since then

I enjoy your reactions to The Band. Ophelia is another song from the Last Waltz featuring Levon on vocals. I think you will enjoy this.

Thank you and of course it is on our list. Much love from both of us 💚
It has become a Thanksgiving tradition at our house to watch the Last Waltz in the evening following dinner.
For another song with the same theme, a woman who takes care of a drunk, check out the Grateful Dead's Sugar Magnolia. Some of the most American lyrics you'll ever hear, and a great rocker.
Great choice! Love that song.
Thank you. Added to our list 😊
I saw them twice in concert, and they were amazing. Great idea to watch The Last Waltz, a fabulous movie with some of all time greatest musicians performing with The Band. I saw it 5 times. I hope you react to their song from the movie called It Makes No Difference.
It's GREAT to see other people enjoying the same music I do.
Highly recommend The Band - Don't do it - Live At The Academy Of Music 1971
The Band is great for sure. But I have to see you two are adorable. So into the music, and so supportive of each other. Thanks for sharing
Our pleasure! 💚
I was Blessed to grow up listening to this music.
Enjoy!
Also, It Makes No Difference is great too! Rick Denko is his name
Sit down and listen to their second album (brown cover, just called "The Band"); almost every song is wonderful. . . and if it doesn't quite hit you the first listen, it will on the second. Also, I saw them live in 1969 (I was 18), and it stands as the finest live show I ever saw.
Levon Helm a National Treasure & the heart and soul of... The Band✌️🙂
The Last Waltz all day... every day.😉
Levon Helms was a generational talent. His later struggles with cancer was heartbreaking and his last few albums were extraordinary.
Great reaction. The Last Waltz by Scorsese is imo the greatest music documentary of all time. Please react it’s magnificent….
Cripple creek is a great little town
As beautiful as Levon is singing and playing drums here, you have to react to something featuring him somewhere between 2008 and 2012 those last years before he past as 72 were so prolific with amazing live collaborations.
Effortlessly cool band. Gonna dig out my Last Waltz DVD.
Levon Helm was just not only a drummer and singer, he was also an actor. two great movies come to mind. "The Right Stuff" and "Coal Miners Daughter".
You must watch the movie The Last Waltz!! I had it on video along with the multi disc CD set. I know all the songs forward and backward. And, I never get sick of them ❤❤
I am sure you will like "when I go away" Levon Helms farewell song, brilliant.
It MAkes No Difference from The Last Waltz. Magical.
❤❤❤ the reaction!
I dont have to speak...she defends me.....💚
That's when that little love of mine......... dips her doughnut in my tea........
this is the best version of this song imo
Eric Clapton said he would've loved to be in The Band !
She's SWOONING! lol
My daughter-in-law spent two years living in Paris, and she watched this movie multiple times then, because it was one of the few things she could find on television that was broadcast in English. I highly recommend you get the movie and watch it. You'll totally enjoy it!
Yep, that's the plan 😀
"The Last Waltz" was a peak of civilization.

Levon (Leave On) Helm is a great drummer, singer and actor ( Coal Miner's daughter/Shooter) and most likely the leader of the band (except that Robbie Robertson, guitar, thinks he was the leader......ha ha ) This was Eric Clapton'
s favorite band of the later 60s claiming they were the "real thing". Levon lived in Woodstock NY and had a barn converted into a recording studio/venue. Many artists had gone up, spent weeks living and recording on the farm to get a great product, sometimes live with a crowd of a few hundred cheering.
Watch helpless by Neil young on the last waltz! Beautiful!
Classic !
So good ...
A transformative performance....
Check out the song “it makes no difference” from this same concert, except Rick Danko the bass player sings lead on this song.😊
Your sincere delight with the band has made me subscribe to your channel.
Yes! Do It Makes No Difference next!
Nice
what an underrated band !
I've been to Cripple Cteek many times. My sister moved there years ago
Oh, how cool 😁
The Band has some great albums. Their first one "Music from Big Pink" is excellent, but Their second album "The Band" is their best one, and had "Up on Cripple Creek". Another album that is great is "Northern Lights Southern Cross", which has the songs "It Makes No Difference", and "Acadian Driftwood".
Wait until you hear the piano player, Richard Manuel sing.
The. album, Music From Big Pink is an important album. When asked what album was part of their early music education, many superstars name this album.
This album has a lot in common with {the band { White mansions . about the "merican " civil war . All the songs are heart felt , from the perspective of an old man that still holds his grey top coat up in honor . Hope vou two will lean an ear to this album.
Hi guys … I saw the band twice … 1973 Watkins glen summer jam with the allman brothers and greatfull dead…and in 1974 with bob Dylan
Great, I'll check it out 😍
Because you like The Band, you really need to check out the Grateful Dead.
