I had 2 Sundown SA-10 classics, one in a ported box and one in a sealed box in my SUV. They completely complimented each other and would fill in gaps in frequency, the ported would fill in the low end, and the sealed helped the hard hitting rock bass.
definitely not ideal with phase cancellation unless you are running them on different crossovers points. Also I assume you ran 2 amps to avoid Impedance matching issues. Or got lucky and it sounded decent
@@noswrld Same subs, same impedance at a stand still, but I get what you are saying, the different boxes will impact impedance rise, which I never measured. Same amp was used, which may have helped eliminate any phase issues. But your last sentence is probably it, I might have just got lucky, but I did the same with 2 18" subwoofers, and same result, they complimented each other.
I cant think of anyone who's touched on this subject with as much depth. I can appreciate it because my setup is something of this sort, except I'm running 2 12's, 2 ported boxes. One is 32hz, the other 44hz, both at 1 Ohm on their own amps, crossed appropriately. One plays the lows, the other plays the high bass, and like @Drgluee was saying, they work together like synergy in the middle section where they overlap. And no cancelation. They literally act as if it were a 6th order.
Have your neighbours ring the cops on you yet? I have car audio set up in my house and my neighbour ring the cops even though I was playing my subs in the day time, I’m looking at sound proofing my room, do you have any good ideas on sound proofing a room?
It is fairly hard to soundproof for bass. Think thunder and the UPS truck going by your house. You would need a concrete room with all sides, floor, and ceiling very thick.
