I like the look of this one,i have a Nechi Lydia, bought in the 60s in a trade fare in Malta, its still going strong.I may upgrade at some point, although mine embroiders, sews buttons on etc.Fantastic machine.very sleek,it has served me well.Thank you for the tutorial.Abi.xx
I wanted to make masks for my family and started using my mom’s old Viking from 1974. The motor burned up, literally with smoke almost starting a fire. So I went to a repairman because every store in the US was sold out of new sewing machines back in April 2020. He traded me a Necchi Lydia that he had restored, and I fell in love with it! Such beautiful sleek lines and 100% metal; it was a joy to sew on! So now I am looking at the newest Necchi thinking to get more involved with my sewing. I’ve been looking at the NC-204D since November and just loved your review and enthusiasm. So my wonderful hubby is getting it for me for my birthday. I’ll let you know how it turns out :)
I do feel that way. I plan to take very good care of her even when I get the new computerized machine. She is so special. God bless the repair guys that keep these antiques going. And thank you so much for such a lovely review!
Hi Abby wow what a lovely machine? Wish I’d seen it before purchasing my Singer 3333 which is ok but not as exciting as this beautiful Necchi. Bought a walking foot for £33 it is very useful on thicker fabrics. As Im a beginner perhaps it is good enough for now!
Automatic thread cutter at this price, WOW. I've been considering purchasing a new machine and was looking at one about £1,500. I'd like to know how well this Necchi copes with thick layers like I deal with in bag making.
Oh yes! I have two perfectly good Brother sewing machines, but am longing to upgrade to one with an auto thread cutter since getting an embroidery machine with one! Looks like this might just fit the bill, very impressed.
Great review Abi, thanks. Necchi machines haven't been on my rada. This looks, sounds and seems to run like a really good quality machine. Look forward to seeing you use it in sewing tutorials. 😊
Where did you buy the Machine from? I have an old Necchi 513(instruction manual for Lycia 522/524) I brought 2nd hand in 1994. So therefore my machine is much older. Apparently its semi-industrial. I think it dates back to the 1960's. It's a very good machine.
Been wanting one but never could decide what make to get. After watching two videos of yours I fell in love with this. Been saving money so got it. Can’t wait to use it. Thank you for all your lovely videos. I like how you get excited about things🙂
Abi, I discovered your channel juste few days ago as I am searching for a new sewing machine and I really loved your presentations of machines!! Your vidéos are so useful and I want to thank you so much for that!!!!! 🙏
Thanks so much for this really useful review. This machine looks great! I'm really looking forward to getting mine! There are so many great features. I hope you will be doing more videos with this gorgeous machine.
Hi Abi, I’ve just found your channel because I was thinking of getting this machine and was looking for a review. Thanks so much for going through it. I’ve just ordered one and subscribed
Hi Abi, love your videos! Have you tried the Necchi 102d? It seems similar but maybe a slightly more basic model? Saw it on offer for £349... I want to upgrade from my 10yo beginners Singer machine (1507) as its starting to squeak after about 10 mins sewing (its oiled). I was looking at mechanical but curious about a computerised machine now as want to set up a creative business in the near future! So need something reliable that will last.
Hi Abi, do you still have this machine? Would you perhaps do a more 'in depth' review, based more on the usage of the machine on a project & how it performs? - How is the machine after having it over a year, and how does it stack up against other similar machines? How robust etc?
Thank you so much for this video, looks like an amazing machine, did you mention the price? Sorry maybe I missed it! Seriously thinking about upgrading to this machine if the price is reasonable 😊 thanks have a good day x
Hi Abi. Love your videos. I bought this machine in Feb from Hobbycraft, it was the display model and they don't stock it anymore. But, unfortunately, the electronic buttonhole foot wasn't in the hag when they packaged everything. I have been back to ask them to check for it but had no luck. I've tried Googling to see if I can buy one but still no luck. I was wondering if yours has a model number so that I could maybe Google that, or maybe if you know where I can get one. I've tried a standard 4-step foot that I got with my Brother L14s but I don't understand how to do the 4 steps with my machine. And I would do them on the L14s but the stitches really don't look great at all lol. Please help me find the electronic buttonhole foot 🙏 I'm desperate! Thank you 😊 Also, the only reason we bought this one was because of this video and I absolutely LOVE it. It's a fantastic machine ☺️♥️
It really is a fabulous machine. You can see if Necchi Italy will supply it or you can ask fabric mouse (google them) but the uk supplier for Necchi went into administration so I don’t think there’s any support at the moment x
Hi Abi, loving your reviews. You are a natural. Thank you so much. My question is, How is the reliability of this 3 years on? Better than singer for ploughing through layers of tweed and denim? Planning purchasing this asap 😊
Hi Abi! Brilliant review, so brilliant in fact, i have bought one..... I've never used a machine with such a memory etc and wondered if you would be considering doing any more detailed videos on how to use it.
Ooh, nice x congratulations 🥳 I’ve just released the lounge pants tutorial and I use a few functions in that video x Very Easy Lounge Pants with button fly and pockets - Abi #sewwithabi
I have this machine too and am happy to see a RUclipsr using it. I'm struggling with the electronic buttonhole foot. Would you happen to have a video or any tips on using it?
ABI I am saving up for a more advanced machine from the Singer Starlet which I have now and live - I would like an automatic thread cutter,up and down needle button and able to use with out a foot pedal along with automatic tying off - It's between this Necchi, a Singer quantum stylist a Singer professional and a Bernette b38 - have you tried all of these and what do you think the best is?? I'm soooo undecided
I'm loving this machine but have mislaid my foot pedal. I've contacted Necchi on where to get a replacement and hope to get an answer... but if you have any ideas what kind I could get I'd be glad to hear them. Who knew there were so many types available!? I'm sewing using the on/off button, which is great, but sometimes I miss the pedal.
@@AbisDen Thanks Abi, I contacted several Necchi suppliers but got no replies. In fact yours is the only reply so thank you. I've doubled the search and did find my pedal, luckily. I'll have to put a 'find me' gizmo on it LOL
Hi Abi, I've been looking at this machine and have just watched your video, can you drop the feed dogs to free motion? The other contender I've been looking at is the Elna 570a but it seems to be falling short of the Necchi NC-240/D
Hi abi can i ask if you would oil this machine? I noticed the aldi version came with oil but this one didn't? I am definitely starting to get a bit of a clunk sound thanks x
@AbisDen thanks very much for replying, you have definitely given me the confidence to begin sewing and I love it, could I ask how often should it be oiled? I don't sew every day but tend do do 3 or 4 projects then onto other craft for a couple of weeks🤣
Hi, Can you help please? I bought this machine from Italy and I live in the UK. I'm having a few issues with it. The store I bought it from have been super helpful but not solved the problem. My stitches are coming out distorted and the machine goes backwards on any of the embroidery and letter functions. It works on strait stitch. I fear there's a problem with the computer. Can you offer any advice?
I try to. It definitely helps feed the fabric smoothly. I cut circles out of any scrap of felt I have to put onto machines I service before I send them back home too xx
Hi Abi, I am looking to get another machine but can you tell me what this machine is like when sewing elastic. Mine just does not like it at all have changed all tensions, stretched, changed needle types etc but it still tangles up and even worse when trying to join 2 pieces together, have given up lol. thanks Susan.xx
Hi Susan,I'm sorry to hear of your bother. have a look at my How to Sew Stretch video for my best tips on avoiding the tangle, but yes, any of the new nechhis are brilliant, in my humble opinion, at stretch
You said you also work on machines, please make a video on cleaning the bombing case on this machine. Every time I clean my bobbin case I land up having to take the machine to the shop.
Love the look of this machine, can anyone tell me why there is a lock stitch and reverse stitch button? Total newbie machine stitcher and i just dont understand why there is noth options🤷thanks
The round button with a dot is not a lock. It completes the cycle of an action. So you’ll press it mid stitch to the machine knows to finish the letter, number decorative stitch fully before stopping and leaving you with half stitch
Hi Abi, Eve here again, just a quick ? How can I purchase this sewing machine? Been on their website, it doesn’t mention the price or how to order it! Help please 😊 thank you
I’ve worked on thick fabric and it’s great. I haven’t opened this machine up to see what’s inside, but it says it has a metal frame and judging by the weight I’m sure this is fine. It’s very similar to Pfaff
