I have the same truck and have also had trouble with the air pump freezing. The solution I found was putting a little diesel airbrake antifreeze in the vent behind the passenger side tail light. Keeps it from freezing and doesn't hurt the pump. I've owned mine since new 11 years ago and still running the original pump. I love the suspension and the auto leveling.
I love the 5.7 Hemi , mine gets great gas mileage has plenty of power and just looks great, i just installed stainless works headers with true duals man it’s sounds insane
I laughed when you said 4x auto for the SNOW lol,. it's a dusting of snow, the roads are clear. Do yourself a favor on your way back down 75 stop in Toledo. ( I said stop not stay) Go to an Ideal Hot Dog for a chili mac, mild, beans cheese, (onions if you like). Get it to go, its awesome and a lot of food. For real stay safe up here TK, the Michigan roads suck ass.
Before I bough my 4th Gen 2500 Big Horn I was looking at a 4th Gen Rebel. I was planning deleting the air ride and putting in a passive lift. I live in Upstate New York, though. Air ride never lasts long here. Since the truck will live in the southwest I’d probably just run it til it fails then convert it. Glad to see the truck is working out!
The major problem with the air ride is the rear bags usually leak. Bought new bags and struts then I refilled them no problems. If you want to lift it just delete the air ride. Use alpha obd to shut off the system so the check engine light goes off. Nice truck
I have the 2022 RAM 1500 with the air suspension. So far, no problem with the air suspension. Has the auto leveling if you put a heavy load in the bed or pulling a trailer.. Best truck I have ever owned. Have had GMC and Fords. The interior is top notch quality with the fit and finish. The cabin noise is super quiet even though it is the 3rd generation 3.0 Eco diesel. So far with 14K miles no problems so far. . Changing the oil every 5k miles. Had 2 recalls done 1 for the high pressure fuel pump and the other for the ABS reflash.. I did have a problem with the 12-inch U connect system. So they replaced that with a new radio and screen. Overall very happy with the RAM would buy it again!!
For the most part I keep my vehicle factory stock. I have some upgrades to my vehicles, but will optional OEM factory parts to install all items that did not come with the cars and trucks new.
I have a 2018 Laramie ecodiesel, I did the Bilstein 5100's which you can level the front with and a set of Airlift bags in the rear 5lbs of air with no load. HUGH improvement
Another great video bro honestly, I would just say delete the air suspension and call it a day actually a nice lift wouldn’t be bad. Either way keep up the great work and I’ll see you on the next one. Have a good one.
I have air suspension in my 2014 Limited. The "entry/exit" height comes in real handy when my blood pressure is out of whack......We are both "getting to that age". Hopefully you never need it for that, but it is nice when you do.
I had a 2016 Ram Rebel 1500 with air suspension and it also acted up when driving in subfreezing temps. That was the only issue that I ever had with it. The wife hated to ride in it, said it was too rough so I traded it in on a 2019 DD RT AWD which I still have.
I have a 2020 bighorn that also has the heated steering wheel and seats. Since I live in North Dakota that with the remote start is a HUGE plus. Spoils me in my not so young anymore years 😂. The 5.7 has run without issue, sounds great, pulls like a draft horse and still can fit in my garage… unlike a bigger pickup. Id stay away from the 6 inch lifts, those tend to be hard on drivelines and mpg unless you plan on it being more offroad than on.
Sold my 20 limited with air suspention when a friend who is a mechanic at rambdealer said they are 3 grand a piece to replace and not covered under warranty. So got a 21 limited longhorn
Mom and I went to The North American Auto Show in Detroit yesterday. Rode the EV cars much of the gas also Hybrid as well. Didn't have enough time for the Honda. Jeep or Bronco
I would leave it stock for now but if you did want to do suspension i would go a 3.5 in lift with some good shocks and 305/55/20 tires falken at3w or at4w. Great for moderate offroad and winter. That's what I have on all my rams. A 6 inch is ok but then it becomes a pain getting in and parking garages, and the home garage won't fit. Also get you some led bulbs they work great in the projector housings. The only problems on my 2013 2018 and 2021 ram are the exhaust manifold bolts but all 3 of mine have way more miles than yours. Change the oil every 7500. Also with the lift get some good upper control arms. That truck will last you 300k easy if you change Fluids. You have the 8 speed zf trans which is awesome and very reliable as well.
Leave it stock ! Less issues and better MPG’s. I just picked up a 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew 5.7 with 37K miles. It’s staying factory stock ! I also have a 2023 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi Tradesman I plow snow with at my property up North. Staying factory stock also! I have extended warranties on both so stock they are a staying !
How much weight were you towing? I love that you got 15 while towing. Airbags are good when they are functional but eventually they will need to be replaced. Personally though I like to keep things stock.
Don't use automatic car washes they damage the paint. I've got a 22 limited, we're going with a 4" bds lift and fuel 22x12s. I already put a retractable bed cover I had to cut my bed management system to fit that but now with my multi function gate my truck is so awesome....can't wait to get the bds system on.....I think yu would like the bds system
Well my truck is still at the dealership..,,it's been 2 weeks now for the air ride system, failure,,,,,apparently it's throwing a code they can't read... I was supposed to get my truck back on Monday. Now it's friday.....yaay...
CDJR tech. The air suspensions really nice and luxurious but id never install it or purchase a vehicle with it, unless it was some kind of show car. They aren’t very reliable systems, the air lines are made out of plastic that will most likely break over 5-10 years, maybe even multiple times, due to weather, temp and line pressure. When they do fail, a lot of the times they get towed in the front suspension is collapsed, exterior trim pieces torn off, bumper barely hanging on. When the rams fail the drivers or passenger side will be collapsed or all 4 on some models. I’d say keep it while it’s working and once it breaks have it converted to struts.
I'd keep the air suspension system till it fucks up on yaa.... It's a pretty. Cool feature to have but my truck is at the dealer right now because of it... Nobody wants to work on it!!!... Replacing all the shocks is easy, it's the nitrogen.Refill , that's a pain in the ass
Towing with chains.......wow you may be half Canadian my friend! Lift kits are great but only if you are keeping for 5-6 yrs min otherwise keep it stock!
I came from a 6" lifted GMC and now have a Rebel G/T. I have zero plans to lift this one...MAYBE a leveling kit. You WILL lose performance and mileage...and driveability. I wouldn't lift it.
I imagine you are aware of this, but all 2011 and newer Ram 5.7L Hemis require mid-grade gasoline for best performance and fuel economy. On the air suspension, I'd keep it. It's a really cool feature. If it fails, then do your plan.
@TKsGarage Have a good sleep, have great fun at the Detroit auto show and vouche for me with the Stellantis person at your upcoming meeting and then I can finally maybe reach Mr. Elkann with my strategy. Gatekeepers at the front door can't keep me from going in back door. 😂😂😂 Should I succeed then consider yourself the new CEO of Chrysler. And as the CEO of Stellantis I'll give all CEOs of CDJR the support they'll finally need from Stellantis. Greetings from Amsterdam, Franco Loefstop.
I would leave it stock.
15.6 with towing? Amazing.
Especially with the radiator problem to start with.
These Rams ride like a dream....plus that interior and layout. Definite wow factor. Akin to a Mercedes with the right trim.
I have had 3 rams with air suspension and live in cold area and never had a problem.
I love the 5.7 Hemi , mine gets great gas mileage has plenty of power and just looks great, i just installed stainless works headers with true duals man it’s sounds insane

I've had no problems with my air ride, even in the cold Michigan winters.
I'm n MICHIGAN too, 3rd ram with air suspension and no problem!
The drive through multiple different climates, parking outside and multiple elevation changes may be why T.K. is seeing this.
nice an unbiased review

Smooth riding, but expensive to maintain
Love m air suspension, but mine is a 2021 REBEL
These trucks are great man took my brother's 21 Ram to Georgia from Mi last summer and was getting 24.5 mpg on the highway almost 700 miles on a tank
I like the air suspension. It's one of the best features.
For the most part I keep my vehicle factory stock. I have some upgrades to my vehicles, but will optional OEM factory parts to install all items that did not come with the cars and trucks new.

Oh for got 230,000 Canadian KM's and it has not burned down or blown up. Thank you Bank's and Amsoil

Your truck sounds good.
I bet it rides nice
Wtap Built 💪🏾💪🏾🏁💯 1 of my favs
Looks like Moline IL. If so, welcome to the neighborhood.
I'm a Ford guy, but my buddy has a 17 Longhorn crew with the 6 ft bed. Nice truck. 5.7 with the 8 speed has plenty of power with respectable mpg.
I have a 2020 bighorn that also has the heated steering wheel and seats. Since I live in North Dakota that with the remote start is a HUGE plus. Spoils me in my not so young anymore years 😂. Glad you like the truck. I prefer American made products, by American Companies.
Sold my 20 limited with air suspention when a friend who is a mechanic at rambdealer said they are 3 grand a piece to replace and not covered under warranty. So got a 21 limited longhorn
Based on my personal experiences (on my third ram), I would keep it stock height or you will have issues with front axel CVs.
Mom and I went to The North American Auto Show in Detroit yesterday. Rode the EV cars much of the gas also Hybrid as well. Didn't have enough time for the Honda. Jeep or Bronco
Yet Tavares wants us to give up that V8 dependability for the 3.0 aluminum twin turbo overheating prone thing?

Come up and visit us at Marysville Mopar NPDC, quick shot up I-94. I'll have the guard let you in for a tour.
Would not change it. Look at a 2500 later. Aldo how many pounds did you tow and was it an open trailer or a closed high profile trailer.
ENJOY! 😊
Leave it stock ! Less issues and better MPG’s. I just picked up a 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew 5.7 with 37K miles. It’s staying factory stock ! What mufflers does it have? Sounds awesome!
Maybe a 2or 3 inch lift would be good.
I think i may need to consider buying used instead of new.
I put a leveling kit on my Ram non air suspension magnaflow muffler and kn filter that's all
How much weight were you towing? I love that you got 15 while towing. Airbags are good when they are functional but eventually they will need to be replaced. Personally though I like to keep things stock.

It's going to need paint..... Has some chips and scratches. It's fine. After I paint it it will be different
One of the reasons that trucks with air brakes have a de ice/ anti freeze setup on the air system.
If you lift it, make sure you install a good system with correct geometry.
Not bad fuel economy with the towing and cold weather.
Just curious… what year is your truck and how many miles are on it? Thanks
I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with a 5.7. I get around 9.5mpg towing a 5000pd camper. According to Ram that’s right on par.
Wow TK. You’re plugged up. Get some sleep buddy 👍🏻👊🏻
Will do. Just got a cold
Well my truck is still at the dealership..,,it's been 2 weeks now for the air ride system, failure,,,,,apparently it's throwing a code they can't read... I was supposed to get my truck back on Monday. Now it's friday.....yaay...

😬 the car wash! I use touchless!
Yeah maybe after I paint it
What are you towing?
My race car
It actually has a nice air bag system. Id keave it. If it was an infiity suv, yeah, rip that trash out lol. But keep her stock.
Have you pulled the radiator cap and seen if all is good with the coolant?
Yep
I would've liked to see this truck. Lol
Dude why 6, to much mainly a road truck right. My Input would be a 3" or maybe 4" max still a great smooth ride 🤔
Too late. Sleep. Take care, TK.
Detroit Auto Show! I'm 60 miles SW of Detroit. If you need anything, let me know!
Have fun in the Motor City.
Check the current pricing on the Gladiator Nighthawk at AJ Dohmann. FINAL PRICE $38,350
😂😂😂😂😂
Towing with chains.......wow you may be half Canadian my friend! Lift kits are great but only if you are keeping for 5-6 yrs min otherwise keep it stock!
Ditch the air bags straight up. It's a 4x4, so jack it up Texas style. If it was a 2wd, then slam it Houston style
Remember if it aint broke dont fix ir
I think it needs a hurricane 6....lol
Keep it stock for best reliability.
You left the trailer off the truck after the wash.
Kudos on getting the salt brine/deicing fluid off the paint, that 💩eats clearcoat if left on for too long.
Facts
If you lift it 6 inches you will need to reprogram a bunch. Especially the transmission, otherwise you can very well burn it us.
Keep it stock
I came from a 6" lifted GMC and now have a Rebel G/T. I have zero plans to lift this one...MAYBE a leveling kit. You WILL lose performance and mileage...and driveability.
I wouldn't lift it.
Leave it Mopar
Leave it stock, unless you're going off-road 6" is a lot.
I imagine you are aware of this, but all 2011 and newer Ram 5.7L Hemis require mid-grade gasoline for best performance and fuel economy.
On the air suspension, I'd keep it. It's a really cool feature. If it fails, then do your plan.
I usually run 91 or 93 at home. When driving on the interstate I run whatever as it is burning at highway speeds towing.
All hemi’s recommend 89 octane, my 07 r/t 5.7 takes 89 per owners manual and 2015 ram 1500 5.7 requires 89 octane.
Leave it stock
Take out the air suspension it’s crap!!

What happened to water in oil

Yo man. Don't do anything to your truck. Don't take a chance on last best made truck. I got 300k on my big horn Hemi and counting
Go fer it feller and super swampers
