    if you have gamemode on for your tv, turn it off it makes to make the delay of the hue box less noticeable

    I got swallowed into buying these bars as well. But little they tell you that if you want such system as in this video it will cost you more than the actual 65inch TV on the wall.

  • @RingsideRants
    @RingsideRants 3 года назад +3

    The delay is caused by using multiple inputs into the plugs . Try using just one input in both the plug for the sync box and gradient separately. Basically leaving 2 free inputs in both plugs.

    Just watched your video and I have the exact same setup although I haven't set up the gradient strip just yet.. Just an observation in your video you have a single play bar for down light. It's not configured correctly.. if you pop in to the sysnc box setup you can set the play bar to either top/side or bottom. It appears your bar is set to top and is probably why it looks like there is a delay. Just a heads up..

      It is.. However if you look at your vid from 09:15 onwards it appears the play bar at the bottom is displaying the colour from the top of the TV screen and not what is being displayed at the bottom.. Like I mentioned I haven't set up my strip as of yet (chrimbo pressie) but I do have 3 play bars 1 for top the other 2 for sides and 2 hue go's for bottom.. I couldn't figure out why the go's would not display colour being shown on bottom of screen same as you vid until I discovered that I needed to set them to bottom and now they display correctly.. Anyways if asyou say the play bar is set as bottom than I am not sure I am seeing what I am seeing in your vid.. Will setup my strip over then day or so and use single play bar for bottom and see if its a quirk with strip and bar.. Anyways as said was just a heads up and not in any way a criticism or anything like that..loved the vid BTW 😉

      Hi, The TV is the last point in the setup and the TV itself doesn't actually do anything that it doesn't normally do. All the leg work is from the Sync Box so you input i.e. sky box or games console goes into the sync box and then the sync box outputs a signal to the TV. I cant see why it wouldn't work.

  • @grw1618
    @grw1618 3 года назад

    Can the gradient strip just be used as any standard Phillips lightstrip or colour bulb, in the sense that you can just turn it on, and select a colour tone and dim level for room ambience behind your screen (blue for example) or is its function purely to sync and throw multi colours following the picture?
    Also I'm gathering with a 7.1 home theatre setup, I would still be able to have all my sources (sky TV, playstation etc) plugged into my Yamaha receiver, and instead of plugging the HDMI out from my AV receiver to the TV, it would first go through the hue box (to achieve the lighting sync) via the hue boxes hdmi in signal, then from the hue box to the TV screen, making all HDMI sources (pay TV, playstation, chromecast ultra, basically whatever is plugged into my AV receiver react to the screen colours) ?
    Great video and thanks for the help!

    • @scottpinhorne
      @scottpinhorne  3 года назад

      Hi, the gradient strip can be used as a 'normal' LED strip but you cannot control the separate zones of this strip without a 3rd party app. With regards to the pass thru, you would need to check with Yamaha to make sure it sends a clean HDMI signal out so that the Sync Box can read the colour info.

    A few questions:
    1)Have you seen any improvements since posting this with delay via firmware updates?
    2)Does the hdmi pass through introduce any input lag for game systems? I’ve noticed on large TVs that any signal processing between the PlayStation and the tv starts to reduce the responsiveness from controller to tv. I’m guessing the game mode helps this but still curious.
    3)Does the sync box pickup light activity from smart TVs? For example, if I don’t have any Apple TV box but simply play films via roku tv I would have no input to plug into the sync box.
    Thanks!

      Hey Nash. I am due to make an update video about this but all my issues were resolved with purchasing and using decent high bandwidth HDMI cables funnily enough! With regards to the games i cant advise there as i never play games or even own a console. @@skyfe5430 IF you want to use the lights to react to the image the image needs to go via the Sync box so it wont work with built in apps on the TV. If you had a chromecast stick or kindle fire etc you would connect them to the HDMI on the Sync box or like you say a playstation/Xbox.

      @@scottpinhorne Right, thanks for the response! The problem with chromecast is that it appears to be built into my TV, so I can't put it in between. If I'm only planning on using youtube and spotify to sync it with I guess I'm better off just connecting my laptop directly to my tv, without a sync box 😂

      @@skyfe5430 They have free windows software you can use if you connect your laptop to the TV to then have the lights react to content from your laptop and thus you dont need a sync box :-)

      You are 100% right very expensive setup but so far not an issue installing and no issues with it running at all now its fine tuned.

    honestly i don't like the playbars.
    first of all their ugly and look like mid Nineties pc speakers, and i hate all the dead lightzones between them. the gradient is very appealing though
