Thanks @ Figu6ka for the reminder 🤝🤛🤜 In this modern wave of Thrash bands, there's a lot of genre blending and many modern thrash bands are way heavier than OG Thrash bands. Thrash is an amazing genre, I think it's the truest form of metal! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

At a punk show, if someone falls down in the mosh pit the pit will stop and people will help you up, a metal mosh pit can be different, an underground one still has the punk code but mainstream ones have got away from the original moshing and have been taken over by the frat boys type and have led to injuries at concerts

The Hat Man on the cover is The Walking Dude aka Randall Flagg for The Stand by Stephen King novel. Anthrax made me read The Stand lol. Randall Flagg is a VERY scary and crazy dude. You should do their I AM THE MAN rap song lol.
Think the song is about Joey's abusive dad. 'Caught In A Mosh' used as a metaphor. 'Talking To You Is Like Clapping With One Hand' is a great lyric too. I'd say do 'Madhouse' next.
Scott Ian was in S.O.D before Anthrax and that was one of the first Crossover Thrash bands blending hardcore punk with Thrash. No surprise you hear the punk influence in Anthrax, especially early stuff.
SOD was Scott Ian and Charlie reuniting with the Dan Lilker, who had started Anthrax with Scott and was on Fistful of Metal, before being kicked out by Neil Turbin.
Volbeat`s guitarist use to play for Anthrax. I think Scott Ian (the guy rapping on "bring the noise" beside Chuck D) is the most likeable person in the big 4, but Anthrax is number 4.
I believe the genre is called “crossover” and I loved it! Glad I got to see them live with Public Enemy supporting they were outstanding! Bring the noise! 😎
Good morning Gentlemen! I recently found your channel and have been binging your videos. I appreciate that you have a fairly unbiased opinion on your metal videos. I am a musician and have been well-versed in rock and metal for 30+ years, so seeing your reactions to music you didn't grow up with is quite enjoyable. Anthrax is still amazing! Would you ever consider stepping out of the box and reacting to something like the Prague Philharmonic's rendition of "Anvil of Crom/Riders of Doom" from the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack? Keep up the good work!
This reminds me of my childhood. Classic song and one of their best. This is thrash at its best. Thanks for reacting to this. Great way to start my day. Volbeat: Cheapside Sloggers. Awesome video and song. Have a great day. Btw, the creepy old man on the cover resembles the evil old fart in the Poltergeist movie. 😬
F yes y'all keep the Anthrax coming. Anything from State of Euphoria or Among the Living especially. This album and Euphoria are both A+++. Like some other commenters have said about the Big 4, they each have their own unique ways but Anthrax I always felt was the bouncier, more energetic and feel-good among them, like you can party to it. They are very heavily drum driven too.
Yes Anthrax are still together though it's been a minute since their last studio album, 2016's For All Kings. One reason why this sounds like punk is because they are from NYC, arguably the birthplace of punk and hardcore. Also gotta get to Madhouse, I'm the Man, and one of my favorites, Safe Home
I Read the book by Scott Ian ( Rhythm Guitarist), and he said they sent a roadie to get something for them during a show, and it took him forever to get back. They asked where he was, and he answered, ' I got caught in a Mosh!", hence the Name of the song.
Most of the solos during these early albums performed by Dan Spitz were written by the drummer Charlie Benante who is the uncle of bassist Frank Bello. Rhythm guitarist Scott Ian has an easily identifiable chug to many of his riffs. Joey Belladonna on vocals has always had an amazing range . The 90’s early 2000’s they had changed vocalists to John Bush of Armored Saint which is another great thrash band. His albums sounded a bit grittier And from the second Bush era album on Dan Spitz was gone and they had Dimebag perform solos on some songs. But during the Bush era their popularity waned because many loved Joey on vocals but there are a number of Gems in the Bush Era too like Only, Room for One More, Black Lodge, Fueled, Riding Shotgun
Charlie Benante writes all off Anthrax's music, starting with the album before this album. Spreading the Disease, Among The Living, and State of Euphoria were heavily punk influenced from Charlie. Persistence of Time, he decided to be more progressive metal for that album. They changed singers to a gruffer singer for the next four albums, with John Bush. Their last two albums they brought this singer back, Joey Belladonna. Their new music is great too. Check out In The End, Blood Eagle Wings, Devil You Know. For John Bush, check out the album version of Inside Out (features Dimebag Darrell on guitar), Room For One More, or Nobody Knows Anything.
30yrs ago I was in a mosh pit at a metal show, and I lost my new glasses and the same thing happened, everyone parted and found them for me. I've always found metal fans good people.
"THE BIG 4" always will refer to Thrash metal exclusively, not METAL in general. That's why you don't include Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, etc.
One of my favourite Anthrax tunes from my fave Anthrax album. Seeing them play this live is always a treat. So intense!! This song was released in '87. I honestly don't know if the term "mosh pit" had been coined yet. Perhaps this song inspired the term?🤷 I've always taken the meaning to be 'caught in the middle of a difficult situation.' Like, one of those scenarios where you want to really give it to a person, either physically or verbally, but you know it's a terrible idea and you just know the consequences are not gonna work out in your favour. That you're gonna end up looking like the jackass even though you weren't the problem. The Big 4 in order are 1 Metallica, 2 Slayer, 3 Megadeth, 4 Anthrax. I'm basing that off of the order they played in on the Big 4 concerts over a decade ago. Personally, Megadeth is my 2.
Love what you said about the metal mosh pits. Once I got caught in the edge of one, took a random hit & my glasses flew off. Like you said, everyone spread out & helped me find them. Much love to the metal community 🖤🤘
This is the first album I ever bought! The second i heard Anthrax i loved them and I was quite young. I love this band so much, but i don't know anyone else that does so i missed out on the 40th anniversary tour, and when I saw it on RUclips i couldn't believe how much of this album they played. I would have peed myself when they came out to Among The Living!
In my experience, Rap (the community) tends to be about beef and who's the toughest. Metal tends to be (excepting Death Metal) about brotherhood and camaraderie.
Back in 1991, there was a Thrash Metal show called ' Clash of the Titans ' Which had 3 metal bands, Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax (* t'was in THAT order when I saw it then at Great Woods, Now called the Xfinity Center, Located at Mansfield, MAss. ) w/ Alice in Chains opening ... 🎼" CAUGHT IN A MOSH! As a Metal-er since i first heard Heavy Metal back in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High (the first two Metal songs I ever heard were Haunting The Chapel by Slayer and Ride The Lightning by Metallica), I can honestly say that most of we-us Metal-ers ranked the 'Big 4' as follows: 1 - Slayer; 2 - Metallica; 3 - Anthrax; 4 - Megadeth. And right below the 'Big 4' were Overkill and Testament and Exodus and Iron Maiden and Flotsam and Jetsam.
Great reaction to a great band. Sorry I haven't been commenting recently, as I been busy, but I definitely will continue to watch y'all's awesome videos as much as possible.
Thanx for finally doing some Anthrax for us !!! I wore this album out as a kid . I had a live VHS that came out around this time too I played so much it got ate ! Other songs I recommend is Among The Living , I Am the Law , Out of sight ,Out of Mind , Who Cares Wins , Madhouse . I could go on for days !!!
Fun video! Love Anthrax. They just toured to celebrate their 40 year anniversary, are working on a new album and their last two albums, For All Kings (2016) and Worship Music were start to finish fire. Try Devil That You Know or Fight 'Em Til You Can't next
You should check out Anthrax song Harms Way, with John Bush. He stepped in to replace Joey Belladonna after his departure from the band. His voice is amazing.
the term "caught in a mosh" came from a roadie. prior to the recording of this album, they were on tour & during a show something happened where a roadie needed to step in. i don't remember what exactly happened but as the roadie was doin' his thing, he had to enter or got thrusted into the pit. he got knocked all around & when he finally made it back on stage he was noticeably a bit "beaten up". the band asked him what happened & he replied "i got caught in a mosh".
I just saw Anthrax in February. 42 years and still going strong. They played with Exodus. Speaking of Exodus, here are other 80s/90s thrash bands left out of the big four that deserve recognition: Kreator, Sepultura, Overkill, Testament, Sodom, Death Angel. I'm sure there's more I missed.
You should check "Got the Time" , "Lone Justice", "I Am The Law" ( about the comic character Judge Dredd) , "I'm the Man" ( a rap parody ), "NFB" ( stands for NiceFuckinBallad). They, like the Beatie Boys, were/are heavily influenced by all genres in their neighborhood.
I know this is gonna make all the Über Metalheads cry like big hairy babies(it happens a lot) but Anthrax started off as and always will be a PUNK band. Thrash Punk🔥Punk4Life🤘🏼
Glad you're back on ANTHRAX!!!! You guys should do "In the End"..it's their homage to Dimebag and Dio!!! Also should check out "Milk" by them. In my opinion ANTHRAX is top of Big 4 for myself.
Mosh pit ‘ etiquette’ is very real. At every show Ive ever been to, they always pick you up and if someone is intentionally trying to hurt someone, then they get dealt with…
Great reaction video as always dudes. That being said however, out of ALL the bands that people consider "just under the Big 4", like everyone else you dudes DON'T mention the band Overkill. So with that being said, I'd absolutely LOVE to see your reaction to three Overkill songs: 1 - Elimination; 2 - Powersurge; 3 - Who Tends the Fire. But regardless of my point, AGAIN great reaction video as always dudes.
Anthrax was my favorite thrash band in the late 80s. It was new and they were unique in their sound and style, but when I go back and listen I feel like it didn’t age well. I still respect guys like Scott Ian (rhythm guitarist who is now part of Mike Patton’s band Mr. Bungle) and Charlie Benante (dummer who recently toured as part of the Pantera tribute tour), but Metallica is the only one of the big 4 who’s music still holds up for me as a whole. There are sweet spots in the other 3’s catalogs, but I think those are mostly from the albums that came in the 90s and later.
I still enjoy Anthrax's first two albums, which are rooted to some degree in traditional metal/hard rock. By the time you get to Among the Living, the hardcore and even hip-hop influence was starting to take over and the vibe and song-writing changed.
You guys should review mosh pits. You can find a lot online! Like wall of death and I can remember back in the day certain bands you'd be throwing punches the kids now days have soften up the pits
I would like you to do a reaction for a song by Anthrax from their first album, "Fistful Of Metal". They had a different singer, Neil Turban. The song I would recommend from that album to listen to is "Deathrider".
Anthrax invented the mosh pit. At first venues would try to stop the mosh. I saw them open for Motly Crue and was amazed. Among the living is an awesome album.
You guys from the ATL and asking about seats? Verizon Ampitheatre has a pit area and seating between the pit and lawn seating. We saw Slipknot there and it was awesome. At my age I enjoy seating more than the pit but we did not sit down during Slipknots performance
Anthrax hasn't had any super recent albums but two newer albums. Joey Belladonna is back as lead singer and their two most recent albums Worship Music and For All Kings are incredible. I think they are the best last two albums from all the big four. I've seen them in concert three times during the tour for For All Kings and the 40th anniversary. They kick all kinds of ass live.
Hey guys, great video. I have one for you. Dark Angel - Welcome to the Slaughterhouse. That song sent me onto a whole different path back then. Careful, it´s a fast one :)
Anthrax combined skater punk and metal and you've got a different kind of thrash than Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth.... thats what made these bands the big four, each one had a different style of thrash to bring to the industry of metal. More Anthrax.... Among the Living, A Skeleton in the Closet, Efilniklufesin, Bring the Noize, Madhouse..... just to name a few suggestions 🤘😎🤘
I think the reason Anthrax is in the big 4 is because of their 1st album “ Fistful of Metal “ with Neil Turbin at the vocals. Total thrash album. Nobody reacts to their debut album ever!!! You guys need to react to some of Anthrax’ debut album. 1)Death Rider 2)panic 3)Subjugator
Classic thrash. Among the living is a thrash masterpiece.
Metallica with Mustaine-riffs, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrex, Paris Hilton, Metallica without Mustaines riffs
Thrash Punk af

" DEUCES! "
✌🏻😸✌🏻
As a Metal-er since i first heard Heavy Metal back in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High (the first two Metal songs I ever heard were Haunting The Chapel by Slayer and Ride The Lightning by Metallica), I can honestly say that most of we-us Metal-ers ranked the 'Big 4' as follows:
1 - Slayer;
2 - Metallica;
3 - Anthrax;
4 - Megadeth.
My order of the Big 4
1. Anthrax
2. Metallica
3. Megadeth
4. Slayer
Anthrax - - - ERYTHING!!! Such an amazing band live 🤘🖤
One of the best albums ever made. A true masterpiece!
Among the Living album is a great thrash album, a non stop attack of anger, seemingly because of the death of friend Cliff Burton from Metallica.
My buddy Dan is the lead guitarist on this. Took lessons from him. Legends!!
Fun video! Love Anthrax. They just toured to celebrate their 40 year anniversary, are working on a new album and their last two albums, For All Kings (2016) and Worship Music were start to finish fire. Try Devil That You Know or Fight 'Em Til You Can't next
Great reaction! You guys fucking rule! Been a long time subscriber and always look forward to your videos! Cheers mates!
Estoy suscrito a su canal desde que éramos 30 mil. Ahora veo todo lo que han crecido y los felicito... Saludos desde chile.
PLEASE DO THE SONG A SKELETON IN THE CLOSET OFF THIS ALBUM ITS AMAZING
'Thrax's early stuff is legendary..."Fistful of Metal, Spreading The Disease," and "Among The Living" LP's are must-listens.
BEST THRASH PERIOD..Anthrax are beasts
Saw them last year in concert. Was a blast
Among the living is one of the best albums in existence. Full stop.
Number 1 rule in the pit: when someone falls down, you pick them TF up.
You should check out Anthrax song Harms Way, with John Bush. He stepped in to replace Joey Belladonna after his departure from the band. His voice is amazing.
"Beat the boss of metal.' HAHAHA. Great analogy.
the term "caught in a mosh" came from a roadie. prior to the recording of this album, they were on tour & during a show something happened where a roadie needed to step in. i don't remember what exactly happened but as the roadie was doin' his thing, he had to enter or got thrusted into the pit. he got knocked all around & when he finally made it back on stage he was noticeably a bit "beaten up". the band asked him what happened & he replied "i got caught in a mosh".
Among the Living is great all the through. This is when Anthrax really stepped it up. I saw this tour and it was awesome.
Anthrax still kills it live. They always bring me to my teen years! Now do Bring the Noise. Rap and metal together
Saw them on this tour with Exodus, with Bailoff ,and Celtic Frost
Sergeant D is coming and your on his list
I know this is gonna make all the Über Metalheads cry like big hairy babies(it happens a lot) but Anthrax started off as and always will be a PUNK band. Thrash Punk🔥Punk4Life🤘🏼
you can feel that Hardcore influence!!!
S.O.D. number 1
Anthrax with other Singer
Public enemy with anthrax turn it up
Glad you're back on ANTHRAX!!!!
So with that being said, I'd absolutely LOVE to see your reaction to three Overkill songs:
1 - Elimination;
2 - Powersurge;
3 - Who Tends the Fire.
SOD was their precursor. Then turned into MOD, Method Of Destruction. Good shit. Pre Anthrax with Scott Ian and others.
I kinda like new Anthrax better. Check out "In The End" a tribute to Dimebag and Dio.
Twisted insane underground psycho plz plz
I've always thought the "Quaker Oats man" 🤣 as the Tall Man from Phantasm. Among the living, follow me or die! 🤘🍻💨
The best of the Big 4, IMO. Charlie Benante, and, Frank Bello are the best rhythm section in metal!
Anthrax Suggestions: "Got the Time" , "Only " , "In My World" and "Madhouse" ~ I wish you guys success in all that you do.
I think the reason Anthrax is in the big 4 is because of their 1st album “ Fistful of Metal “ with Neil Turbin at the vocals. Total thrash album.
Nobody reacts to their debut album ever!!! You guys need to react to some of Anthrax’ debut album.
1)Death Rider
2)panic
3)Subjugator
Like Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax puts the fun in metal.
