When I removed my braids for the first time with my new braider, I had no breakage and the amount of shedding was SIGNIFICANTLY less. And the growth I got from just 2 1/2 months with this new girl was on another level!
It took me 3 years before I ever did another wash n go which was in April of 2019 and i haven't done another wash n go since. I also stopped doing high puffs and micro mini twist because they also weren't beneficial to my growth. I now currently wash my hair bi-weekly, keep it in flat-twists and keep my hair off my shoulders making sure to refresh and re-moisturize my hair my scalp and hair in between wash days. The transparency is amazing and genuine. I’m glad that you pointed out your setbacks for the past year. I feel my hair isn’t growing as fast either from not wear as many protective styles. People forget that protective styles protect from weather elements and excessive manipulation. I’m definitely going to do more protective styling with wigs. 💯 facts 👌🏽...everything you’ve told us, I’ve learned the hard way 👀. Some things I’ve learned is not to try so many different products on my hair. When it was above my ear, it grew like crazy with AsIAm products...but now, it’s resistant to some of their products and only twists seem to keep my growth. When it’s time to switch products...I’ve had to learn to be very picky. I greatly appreciate how you care to share these truths that every curly girl should know 💕
I didn’t trim my hair or grease it as much as I should but I definitely saw growth when using rice water, the inversion method and deep conditioning along with low manipulation hairstyles that I would refresh every wash day which is every week.
Over the quarantine I would put my hair in braids and spray my hair drown with rice water with peppermint oil (to get rid of the smell). I did this multiple times a day and after only a week I grew an inch of hair which is hard to believe. The braids gave low manipulation and I also oiled my scalp everyday. Make sure you wash your hair every week and braid it back up. It worked for me and hopefully it will work for others too. Just had to put Beaute Gang on this good stuff over here. 👸🏽👸🏾👸🏿
Jessica Chinamelum yes it’s ok I promise. You can do it once a week but this is a personal thing I wanted to do and so far there are no down sides to it.
I made 2 mistakes that destroyed my hair and I’m trying to fix it the best I can. I’m sharing in case it helps someone else. I have 3c/b hair medium to high porosity, not super protein sensitive but a bit. When I’d do an egg treatment my hair felt a little brittle immediately after but nothing major or beyond that day or few days. I did the aphogee protein treatment and it totally changed my hair making it far more brittle and actually changing the texture to be more course. Tons of my hair broke off about an inch from my roots and continues to break at that point. The second thing I did was take a growth supplement with biotin thinking it would make my hair thicker. My hair grew at first it didn’t get thicker but then after a a month I stopped taking it my hair started to shed a lot. Prior to I would only have to clean hair out if my brush despite brushing daily about once ever two weeks. I could brush my hair and have zero shedding. I suspect that if one has low iron and or low thyroid, which I suspect I have, it has negative affect when biotin is introduced. Per protein my hair did fine with natural strengthening like amla but aphogee really destroyed my hair. I used to be able to run my finger up my hair strand and it was smooth. Now I feel the follicle. I have more very wiry hairs and my hair is weaker. My hair was actually already very strong but I didn’t realize it. So if you fit my profile low iron, thyroid be careful with biotin and maybe stick with natural strengthening masks or do a good test strip first.
Omg I have been going through that same things like since I started college I have been being lazy with my hair and I can definitely see it in my growth. Yess wig and twist are really going to be my best friend this year.
You're beautiful. It's good when we even learn from our mistakes. I will also make a video talking about how my mistakes affected my hair growth. God bless y'all stay safe ❣️
It's almost 2 years since my big chop and I haven't trimmed AT ALL, make sure you trim ladies!! My key protective style is braids because I'm in ROTC and I don't have time to be slicking up my hair into a bun so box braids work very well. Tho my hair is in a protective style often, I plan to trim it this month because this coronacation gives me time to do a thorough wash day! **Just because your hair is in a protective style doesn't EXCLUDE YOU FROM A TRIM!! 😀😅 (Btw I'm trimming this week after I take my braids out haha) Edit: I GOT A TRIM DONEEE, tbh I was so nervous, but hair is so healthy hopefully this retains the growth I could've had. Beginning of this year when I took my big chop pictures, the growth that I got from January-March looked the same, so I knew something was up. Not anymore tho!! Those dead ends are goneee 👏😂
I went natural about a year ago and I haven't trimmed! Some of my ends are still relaxed, even 😭 I need to trim them, but im so scared of screwing something up + I want to use ACTUAL GRADE A shears.
@@vey5579 Same!! I'm scared I'm going to mess up my trim and cut more off than I want to. I'll probably get my sister to help and use regular scissors cause I don't have shears 😭😭

I literally just cut my hair because of the fairy knots I definitely have to do protective styles wash and def isn’t working thx a lot you gave me some ideas to use my journey
Isi I love that you are wearing your loose hair. You know what to do lol just stick to it. Wig season is coming back though ayyy 😜😜😜One thing that I am faithful to is trims and low manipulation styling but I like wearing my loose hair more often. Afros, twist outs, braidouts, I only blow dry my hair now when I get a trims i go in between 3 to 4 months. Our hair is so susceptible to breakage and split ends it needs it more often than not and when you get regular trims you don't loose length at least it doesn't seem that way for me. I cannot wait for these uploads
Omg I loveeee you so much. Literally been experiencing the same thing but mostly haven’t had quick access to the beauty supply, and I noticed my hair is sooooo dRyYyyy. It could’ve been wayy longer. You are the best natural hair RUclips.
I have type 4 hair and Wash and go's have the opposite effect on my hair; they help keep my hair tangle free and reduce my shedding/breakage sooo much (because my curls are held by the gel in its detangled, natural curly state). I have get crazy shedding when i do protective styles (braids, cornrows etc) or when I blowout/slick back my hair in ponytails
How I got my hair to grow was by doing box braids and putting oil and there’s not much tension because I do them myself also I can leave them for up to 2 months
Mistakes i've made in the past like year have been 1. I stopped consistently oiling my scalp. 2. I was doin too many high puffs. 3. Washing my hair every week which was too much on my hair.
I actually just found out that doing small mini twist knots up my ends. You just have to find out what your hair likes and doesn't like. Edit: So now I'm going to start doing medium sized plaits and hope it helps
Found your site awhile back. You are so pretty and such fun. I have no idea what you're talking about sometimes but you are just so cool to this little old lady! Wow..all that hair. Lucky you.
Wash and goes grow my hair. The only thing I have to do is trim my hair regularly. I rarely do any other style and I am a type 4 natural. A Wash and go is a low manipulation protective style.
yeah i’m confused on this one. are people talking about the wash n gos where you use gels and custards to get more defined curls ? I can see how that can be a bit much. I also feel that wash n gos without doing any curl defining is the least manipulated hairstyle. Because it’s in its natural state. 🤔 i know your ends should be protected at but other than that i’m not sure what i’m missing 😅
Christine M I don’t have to work to get defined curls. Sometimes naturals do to much. As long as my hair is detangled it gets defined with little effort. I use Uncle Funky’s Daughter curly magic. And maybe a foam or a little cream on top as a topper to protect against the weather. My hair is thriving. Wash and goes are not the problem. Failure to clip ends is the main culprit. IMO
i highly recommend putting your scalp oils in one of those hair dyeing bottles with the needle tip, especially forstrong-smelling oils! makes sure the oil is going exactly where you need, limiting waste, and simplifying application/getting to your scalp.
@HalfricanBeaute when I get my JBCO I usually get a scented like one time I had peppermint and this time I have mango and mix my oils in a bottle and the JBCO overpowers the other two. Wild growth+ Doo Gro+ JBCO mango is what use
Loook knowing which protective style work for you is key too... Cuz I can't do mini twist because my hair would lock... But it works for others. I added JBCO back to my regimen as well and I stopped for years but my scalp been playing me this year so I had to get back to basics with that one!

Thank you darling. Yes my hair grows only when I use wig minimum 4weeks but give it some moisture every day, leave in conditioner with water in a spray bottle. I have 4c. My protective hairstyle is conrows. I dnt glue the wig, so i wash my conrows only with warm water every 2nd day. Its grows like crazy, then together with treaming only carefully treaming, only dead hair, and that grows my hair even more. thanx love
I just did my first sewn-in on myself. My hair grows a lot in sewn-ins. I mean a lot! It came out great, next I’m making a wig. I’m thinking of doing a whole year in protective styles.
i think my problem when it comes to retaining length is i dont have the funds to afford the good proper hair care that i know my hair needs.......like shears, a working deep conditioner, money to afford and try different hair products, a whole closet of cute wigs for protective styles 😭😭😭. my hair just needs to hang in there till i get my money up cause i know she is struggling! its been the same length for 2 years now 😭
itsme I literally just watched a couple of her product hauls and she had one specifically from the drug store. Some of her products are like $12 and under
A great product I stock up on is not your mother's natural the pink bottle and conditioner plus the deep conditioner in the green tub...their 8.99 and Ulta usually has b1g1 50percent off ...n twice a year they're 50percent off n I stock up!! For clarifying I usually just get the Cantu acv rinse from Dollar general...make it work for you.
Since we’re on lock down till the end of April 🙄 I’ll be wearing box braids, oiling my scalp with the wild hair growth oil every night and I just started taking liquid biotin so we’ll see what happens. Let’s get these inches
yesterday i straightened my natural hair and it was 18 inches! ive always been natural and never chemically straightened my hair before. i cut off about 6 inches while straight cuz, i was just SICK of the maintenance that 18inch natural hair takes (it was perfectly healthy), today it is lil over than chin length curly and its SOOOOO CUTE and wash day is only 5-6 hours from start to dry!!! im so much happier. I used to watch these videos and pray for long hair. now that i had it i hated how long it took to do. so just a perspective on wanting to grow hair long. I FINALLY got it after all the hard work and chopped it off on whim. but im happy lol
Yessss Beaute Gang since 🤟🏾😜. I ❤ the wild growth over the years of using it; I have gotten use to the smell. I have been using it for years, I also rotate between oils as well. But my scalp absorbs the wild growth oil to the point I do not need to add oil to my scalp every other day. The oil stays on my scalp till wash day. After wash & deep condition, I shirt dry, braid my hair up, and apply the oil and let it be.
If you do get a long term style, make sure you keep it oiled up or greased up. It will get very dry if you don’t and break off. If you put too much, it can fall out too. Especially if you see it getting clogged up in spots.
If I had hair that long, I wouldn't know how to act. Like, don't even talk to me😂😂

I’ve been saying this for a while but I still haven’t done it. Lol
I have a bad addiction to straightening my hair like every 4-6 months cause it's easier to maintain. I can straighten it once and go about a month without washing. Wash n Goes, two strand twists and buns are my go tos. I religiously use wild hair growth and jbco because of Isi. My hair was last colored late September early October 2019 and now at the end of March I have 2 inches of new growth.
Thank you so much!!!! My hair was growing so well and then stopped all of a sudden. I knew I wasn’t doing what I had done before, but it still wasn’t clicking that that was my problem. You’ve woken me up and motivated me to keep going with my journey! I was so tempted to just start over but I see that I can still revive my growth! Thank you!
Your hair is so beautiful! That blow out is full.
Sometimes it's quite difficult to stop watching/ listening to you talk, you alway have me locked in. 💯
I absolutely love your videos I never comment but today is my birthday and I'm so excited for this video while on curfew! Sending love from Barbados!

I greatly appreciate how you care to share these truths that every curly girl should know 💕
Looking like an actual goddess in this video 😍😍😍
Victoria Martin is it okay to use rice water everyday
Jessica Chinamelum yes it’s ok I promise. You can do it once a week but this is a personal thing I wanted to do and so far there are no down sides to it.
Im so happy to see someone with my hair type making it cute!
Sis. Love that hair and that chair. Excellent video. Very helpful.
She is soooo pretty💛🥺
I feel you sis I been having my natural hair since sept 2016 and I feel my hair could have flourished if I took better care of it
That skin gurlll is popping
Omg I have been going through that same things like since I started college I have been being lazy with my hair and I can definitely see it in my growth. Yess wig and twist are really going to be my best friend this year.
You're beautiful. It's good when we even learn from our mistakes. I will also make a video talking about how my mistakes affected my hair growth. God bless y'all stay safe ❣️
i cant get over how pretty you look in this video sissss
Beaute gang IS hella stoopid lit! Glad to be a part of it 😉❤️
It's almost 2 years since my big chop and I haven't trimmed AT ALL, make sure you trim ladies!! 😀😅
(Btw I'm trimming this week after I take my braids out haha)
Edit: I GOT A TRIM DONEEE, tbh I was so nervous, but hair is so healthy hopefully this retains the growth I could've had.
@@vey5579 I ended up buying shears about two-three weeks after that comment and then a month later my sister helped me with my trim and I with hers 😂😅😭
Idky but i never trim my hair and In 6 weeks using wild hair growth oil and Jamaican castor oils my hair has grown 2 inches
Your dimple is adorable 😭
Omg I loveeee you so much. Literally been experiencing the same thing but mostly haven’t had quick access to the beauty supply, and I noticed my hair is sooooo dRyYyyy. It could’ve been wayy longer. You are the best natural hair RUclips.
You should keep your hair in stretched styles to help retain lenth ,it works especially for fairy nots
Yeah braids shed my hair like crazy. It’s a beautiful protective style but taking it out and washing is daunting. 😭😓
Beaute gang is hella stupid litt🤪💯‼️
💯
How I got my hair to grow was by doing box braids and putting oil and there’s not much tension because I do them myself also I can leave them for up to 2 months
Mistakes i've made in the past like year have been 1. I stopped consistently oiling my scalp. 2. I was doin too many high puffs. 3. Washing my hair every week which was too much on my hair.
My main problem is knotting at the end of my hair strands. I see growth but I’m constantly getting single strand knots and I don’t know why
Heyy Mars try stretching your hair
Braid your hair into protective styles, not box boxbraides but your own hair
I actually just found out that doing small mini twist knots up my ends. You just have to find out what your hair likes and doesn't like.
Edit: So now I'm going to start doing medium sized plaits and hope it helps
Marshmallow root conditioner.
This will help with tangles and maintaining moisture. It’s easy to make and worth it.
Ssks stopped being a problem for me when I went back to grease.
I love, love, love your hair!!!!!
You are a beautiful black queen! Thanks for all tips and transparency! I’ve subscribed 💗
This channel istruly litt🔥🧨not gonna lie I've been here pretty long to know just never commented on any vid 😬 idk why but ......
Omg I've been here from the beginning and your hair is so long thick and beautiful 😍😍 so much love from Kenya🇰🇪
Found your site awhile back. You are so pretty and such fun.
I have no idea what you're talking about sometimes but you are just so cool to this little old lady!
Wow..all that hair. Lucky you.
I'm loving the new setting
Thank you SIS lol....love your videos and your spirit! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing!
IMO
We need a current hair journey video pleaseee! 2017-2020.
You should do a "3 year what ive learned hair growth journey"
i highly recommend putting your scalp oils in one of those hair dyeing bottles with the needle tip, especially forstrong-smelling oils! makes sure the oil is going exactly where you need, limiting waste, and simplifying application/getting to your scalp.
Bring back the wigss!! I wanna start doing wigs too because my hair is mad at me rn
I just trimmed my hair TODAY!!!! I love trimming my own hair it’s nice
@HalfricanBeaute when I get my JBCO I usually get a scented like one time I had peppermint and this time I have mango and mix my oils in a bottle and the JBCO overpowers the other two. Wild growth+ Doo Gro+ JBCO mango is what use
Yes more wig videos! I want to attempt doing all wigs or knotless braids for the rest of 2020.
You are a natural beauty and you seem very confident
I love how much you posting I am here for it sisssss♥️
Mistake that I ever made was relaxing my hair that shouldn't have ever been done EVER!!! And maybe my hair will look as close as yours😊.
Thank you for keeping it 💯! I’ve noticed the same happens with my hair.
Loook knowing which protective style work for you is key too... Cuz I can't do mini twist because my hair would lock... But it works for others. I added JBCO back to my regimen as well and I stopped for years but my scalp been playing me this year so I had to get back to basics with that one!
Girl we knew this video was coming and honestly everybody staying at home sis, we needed this reminder because coronavirus gonna knock me off my routine 😭😢
#Bringbackthewigs! You are my hair guru, we have very similar hair textures and I am following you Queen to get my hair back to its healthy state 😍💁🏾♀️👸🏾👑
Quarantine is blessing me with Josh and Isi and ahalfrican beaute on the daily keep them coming sis periodd 👏
Its grows like crazy, then together with treaming only carefully treaming, only dead hair, and that grows my hair even more. thanx love
Thank you for being honest ❤️❤️
Yeah it's a marathon
Your hair is freaking GOALS 😍
I'm all ears
Sissssss, I am halfrican tooo! Half Nigerian, Half African American! Love ya videos! 😍😘💖
Same 😭😭
I noticed that you weren't riding and and dying for wigs like you usually did.
We look to see the length of your natural hair though ✨
#50ShadesofIsi
You keep it real 👌🥰 love it. My hair is growing 🤗 yayy!
Since we’re on lock down till the end of April 🙄 I’ll be wearing box braids, oiling my scalp with the wild hair growth oil every night and I just started taking liquid biotin so we’ll see what happens. Let’s get these inches
I'm doing exactly the same sis . Yess let's get them inches
Your hair is goals! I just chopped off all my relaxer after 20 months transitioning. 🖤
Ive been watching your videos for so long and in the middle of this video I just thought...why am I not subscribed🤦🏾♀️😂
Protective styles are the best for length!
yesterday i straightened my natural hair and it was 18 inches! ive always been natural and never chemically straightened my hair before. i cut off about 6 inches while straight cuz, i was just SICK of the maintenance that 18inch natural hair takes (it was perfectly healthy), today it is lil over than chin length curly and its SOOOOO CUTE and wash day is only 5-6 hours from start to dry!!! im so much happier.
Great Video, didn’t need to skip it once. The facts were short and easy to hinder, Thankyou
u look soo beautiful in this, that shirt suits ur body nice too!!
yessss wigs be growing TF outta my hair 😩 my hair finally grew pass my shoulders !! and i was using the wild growth oil
Love your channel and energy, you are the kind of youtuber that every NATURAL should watch.
We gettin all types of new hair vids on youtube due to this pandemic and I'm loving it
If you do get a long term style, make sure you keep it oiled up or greased up. It will get very dry if you don’t and break off. If you put too much, it can fall out too. Especially if you see it getting clogged up in spots.
Sis ur sooo beautiful omg!!!😍
