Some exposition: this is before the Empire when the Galactic Republic still ran the galaxy. The senators from each planet or system formed the Senate, and the leader of the Senate was the Supreme Chancellor (sort of like the President or Prime Minister of the whole galaxy). Not every planet in the galaxy is part of the Republic, however. There is no military and private armies are illegal because there has been no war for 1,000 years. The peace is kept by the Jedi Knights, who serve and protect the Republic but have their own traditions and exist apart from it. Centuries earlier, the Jedi destroyed their ancient enemy, the Sith, who used the dark side of the Force (and red lightsabers) to do evil.
By the time of this movie, the Republic has become corrupt and ineffective. Corporations have become so wealthy and powerful that they can even buy their own seats in the Senate. (So imagine if Microsoft, Exxon or Chase Bank had their own senators in U.S. Congress.) The Trade Federation is one of these corporations. They control most of the major trade routes through the galaxy. They're not supposed to have their own droid army, but they have used the corrupt Senate to have it declared a technically-legal "security force". No one, not even the Jedi, knows that the Trade Federation is secretly in league with a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious. As far as anyone else knows, the Sith are long extinct. But Sidious is the one calling the shots from behind the scenes and he has promised the Trade Federation more power if they help him. But no one knows what his true intentions really are.
By the next film, which takes place 10 years later, some planets have become sick of the all the corruption and want to secede from the Republic. There are violent skirmishes between these Separatists and Loyalists who want to remain in the Republic. Greedy corporations see this as a chance to use the conflict for their own gain.

Years later they aren't beloved, people still hates Jar Jar Binks to death, the ludicrous podracing, absurd midiclorian logics and so on... It has some good moments in it? yes, but overall it was and still is disappointing.

Well, there was a pod racing video game back in 1999.(And apparently it’s still available for pc on steam and there’s a version for the Nitendo Switch) I never played it, so, I can’t say if it’s any good.

The big palaces on naboo are supposed to be more artistic than a show of power.Their ground military force seems to be barely above the level of regular police. (NORMAL regular police not tanks&grenade launchers regular police).

Question for you: Since you're going in chronological order, are you going to do the Anthology movies(Solo, Rogue One) in their part of the timeline? If so, they are set between Episodes III and IV(Solo first, then Rogue One). Rogue One leads directly into episode IV.
Edit: If you REALLY want to "Pod Race"... "Star Wars: Episode I Pod Racer" is available on Steam. It's an older game(came out around the same time as the movie), but it still holds up.
Yes, I consider the side stories (Solo and Rogue One) have to be seen for a better understanding. But I was planning to view them after the saga. And OMG, thank you so much for the information about the game!! I will try it as soon as I can ♥

As others have mentioned, Episode I Podracer is a great game to give you the experience of podracing. Also Racer Revenge which is supposed to take place during the timeframe of Episode II. Personally, I'm more nostalgic for Episode I Racer, but Revenge has much better "battle" mechanics: you can actually ram other racers and completely eliminate them from the race if you so choose. I recommend both.

Coruscant the Republic capital world is covered almost entirely several miles deep in levels of city. It's been built up over thousands of years. Several of the lower levels are uninhabitable.
The more money you have the higher up on Coruscant you can live.

If you loved the Podracing so much, you'll be happy to know that there were two video games made! Podracer Revenge (the second game on the PS2, though know I have a digital version on my PS4) was the main one I grew up with playing with my brother. They really got the sheer thrill of it down right!
Also, yeah, Queen Amidala's outfits are very complicated and beautiful, which is why it was amazing to see a lot of them in person at a traveling costume/prop exhibit a few years ago!
So usually I was listening to you watching SW once a day while playing swtor. Now it's server maintenance so have my rewatches xD

And part of the purpose of the dresses is to obscure who the real queen is. Case in point, when Padme is ordered to clean up R2, you can see the other handmaidens smirking at each other because their queen just got ordered to do menial labor, and she can't do anything about it.

i think that if qui-gon had survived, he would comeback for anakin's mother, and bought her, and than he would get her a plce to live, so she would be safe, and anakin would be able to visit her all the time, as qui-gon would be anakin's master.
i also think qui-gon would be expeled from the order, but i dont think he would mind, as he was more focused on following the will of the force, rather than the jedi outdated rules.
than, as he trained anakin, and anakins mother was around, anakin would not have to deal with other padawans bulling him, nor would he have to miss his mother, not to mention, he would visit padme quite more often since he was not bound to working for the order nor the republic, not to mention i think padme would gladly be the ne who would buy a house for qui-gon and shmi as a way of taking qui-gon for helping her.
eventuly, as anakin grew up, he and padme would aready have been good friends for a long time, and there would not be anything stopping him from marrying her, and anakin would never have turned to the dark side.
all of the events happened the way they did, because qui-gon died... have he survived, everything would have been just fine... but instead of being trained by a jedi that acctuly followed the will of the force, anakin was trained by the order with their ridiculous rules that lead to their own destruction...
FYI Nintendo 64 had an entire game of just podracing and the Lego Star Wars games include some excellent podracing as well.

Gungan city = Space Atlantis. Battle Droids don't have A.I.(Artificial Intelligence), they have A.S.(Artificial Stupidity).
The reason why Naboo is so easily conquered is because 1. the Naboo are pacifists and 2. armies are illegal in the galaxy. The Trade Federation is such a powerful and wealthy corporation that it can buy its own senate seat. (So imagine if Microsoft or Exxon or Chase Bank had its own senator in Congress.) This way, it has been able to use the corruption in the senate to have their droid army designated as a “security force” making it technically legal.
There are other equally powerful and greedy corporations taking advantage of the corruption in the senate, which you will see in the next film, which takes place 10 years later. By that time, many planets and systems have become sick of the corruption and want to secede from the Republic. This causes violent skirmishes on planets throughout the galaxy between these Seperatists and Loyalists who want to remain in the Republic and solve the problem diplomatically. But the corporations and trade guilds see an opportunity to use the Separatist movement for their own gain.

No no no. This order ruins the two major plot twists of the original trilogy. I recommend this order.
Rogue One, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. Skip 7, 8, 9 as they suck and undo the magic of the Skywalker saga. Plus every legacy character gets shit on because some hipster d bag directors were pissed they had to finish someone else's story. I digress lol....after the films, if you like the star wars universe, watch the clone wars cartoon, rebels, and mandalorian.

The magic of the original trilogy is the mystery of where these characters came from. Ya know story telling .....and trusting your audience isn't retarded and can figure it out. The ot flirts with luke and leia being love interests. If you already know they are brother and sister the possibility of a love affair between them becomes creepy. But that's what today's PC society likes...creepy shit!
Next the audience knowing anakin is Vader from the start takes away the magic of the "father" segment because that is a major plot twist to the original story. Anakin Skywalker was believed to be dead. Finding out he is alive.....and that he is Vader is a very emotional, dramatic moment in the ot. Knowing his identity from the start takes this drama out of the scene. This is before you try to reason out why he is trying to kill his own kid.
It's the mystery, magic, and suspense of these scenes that you hipster douche bags wanting instant gratification get robbed of by watching the saga in the wrong order. The whole point of the story in 1 - 6 is the rise, fall, and redemption of anakin skywalker. Pay attention in school you might learn something.
And we never say the word Midichlorine again.

Nooooo Just watch the saga films all the way through. Rogue One is a side story and distracts from the Skywalker saga. It’s a decent movie and fills in some blanks but it’s also kind of unnecessary. Better to get the basic spine of the story, then fill in the blanks.

I'm sorry for the dissapointment. I talked with some friends who are fans of Star Wars and their advice at that moment was to start chronologically for a better understanding. I'll keep it in mind for other sagas, I appreciate the feedback :)
I know a lot of us prefer release order but I don’t think chronological order is that bad. It does seem like more of a journey to get the whole story from start to finish. Even though it does spoil a big plot twist in Ep.5, chronological order has its own surprises and revelations.
I think release order will ruin everything...OG sucks. Chronological order is a lot better - not only it helps to understand a backstory of Obi Wan,Vader,Yoda etc. It also has serious tone,characters, lightsaber duels and many different planets. OG is just a cliche fairy tale filled with cliche characters
My friends have the same opinion as you. When I end the saga I will be honest regarding whether I made a mistake or not

Usually RUclips's algorithm automatically blocks a video when it detects a data the company has set as non-acceptable. It's not an easy task, thus the reason many videos are mistakenly blocked. When this happens, you have to dispute it. Once you did that, you either wait 48h, or the company reviews it, whichever comes first.

I thought that myself until I started dissecting the reveals, in this order, and it actually works. Though I prefer the cinematic release order myself, an argument can be made for watching in the order of IV, V, I, II, III and VI for a novice for "maximum reveal reaction" emotional impact.
@@chrispittman8854 I'm sorry but that's total bullsh*t. The order in which any movie/TV series is to be watched is in release order ALWAYS. You don't watch a prequel TV show prior to watching the original show. For example, you wouldn't watch "Better Call Saul" before watching "Breaking Bad". And why? Because the prequel show "Better Call Saul" is littered with references to the original show "Breaking Bad"-- the prequel show is written with the understanding that the audience has already watched the original and therefore certain information presented in the prequel will not be explained in great detail because the audience will already understand (based on their knowledge from the original show). If you watched the prequel first, there will be a LOT of information that you will miss and won't comprehend.
This goes the same with film as well. You watch the films in order in which the filmmaker intended the audience to see them. Not some stupid order that idiot fanboys pulled outta their ass.

How do you know who Jabba is?
I have a friend that loves Jabba for how funny it looks. And during college, she had to learn to program with Java, which where I live its spelled like Jabba. So one day she explained she couldn't stop laughing in class because of the Java/Jabba thing, and I asked her a picture of Jabba and that's when I saw him. She literally killed me for never watching the first 6 episodes of Star Wars. But we both had a good laugh of Jabba, and when I saw it during this movie, in my mind it instantly popped the Jabba story I just wrote :)
