L knows what he is doing. Light knows what is doing. Props to Light for keeping completely straight and cool face after L revealing himself, even if he doesn't even know if he is L. Props to L for making that super smart move right there, it looks risky but L knows that if Light is Kira, he knows that Kira can't outright kill him because of what Light said, it'll be like telling the world he is Kira. These two are both super smart and know exactly what there doing. This is a IRL game of chess.
Especially considering L is having to operate with no knowledge of the supernatural. L did a really good job considering.

I think it’s interesting that you guys see light and L as equals. In my mind watching this again, it’s clear that L is hundreds of steps ahead of Light psychologically and in pure intellect or initiative. This is because Light has so many paranormal assets on his side and knowledge of what can exist in their world. He has visible proof it front of him as well as a godly “partner” to discuss things over with. While I guess you could argue that L uses his investigation team as support...he really never *needs* them to come up with theories...but rather *uses* them as puzzle pieces to execute the plans he creates. Because of the fact that he has no confirmation of what actually existence in their world (gods of death, death notes, etc etc) he truly does have to use his brain and imagination to prove this reality that he is experiencing. So looking back on the series, under normal circumstances, I think L is genuinely smarter
I have always felt that Light was way above L because how could L ever explain the paranormal. It was also clear that L is smart as, so I feel like they're pretty equal.

I mean no amount of police support or investigation team could balance the knowledge gap created by supernatural element on Light's side. It is kinda like Obito having Izanagi hack, even if you are pushed to the brink of defeat, you can just escape by losing ownership of death note and losing all your memories. There was only so much even the world's smartest detective could do against supernatural power that could nullify the possibility of getting any proof or even suspicious body language (by erasing memories). It is impressive that he still got so close.

I like the way they are watching this show. Too often people focus on who is right and who is wrong that they cannot appreciate the tension of the battle, and I'll put myself in that category because on first viewing of the first couple of episodes I was like this. While that may be a good debate, that is not the point of the show. The author pretty much threw the relevant discussion of who is right and wrong out the window by the second episode. Light has a god complex and was so quick to kill (the fake) L, and L was willing to sacrifice someone (albeit someone who was going to be executed later that day) just to get closer to the truth. You see them walk dangerously close to these lines, often crossing the line at certain points. Now you can argue who is more wrong, but I think for the author that discussion wasn't as important as watching these two go at each other.
Anyway, my point is it's a chess match, a cat and mouse chase if you will. Who will win, more so than who is right.

There is something pleasurable about watching such sharp reasoning and the tension that this show presents.
I always loved movies about intelligent people and it made me realize a few things.
The only way dumb people can beat truly intelligent people is with
1) Spending more time on the same thinking.
2) Having multiple layers of preperation.
3) Relying on other people to assist your thinking.
I recall realizing this when doing prepared presentations in high school. Normally I felt like some people in class were smarter than me but as I did far more layers of preperation before a presentation and refined what I would say, the possible ways people might react, etc I was able to perform and appear far above my 'natural level of intelligence'.
The same thing is done in sports by prepping sports stars before for instance a boxing match with mentality so they can be at a higher level of mentality in the middle of the match than the mentality they can have with a less important thing in every day life.
I recon as more and more jobs get automated the few people who do work will have key positons in managing alot of automated systems doing a large amout of highly valuble work.
We will then start to have teams around them helping them out with their mentality like the people who prep a sports star, so that when they execute on their work they have a mentality that is far above their 'natural intelligence'.
Working in such teams will definitively become a major source of jobs in the future.
I rock with y’all and this reaction was one of the better I’ve seen since like HxH days, but I would support y’all if I had the dinero like that. Unfortunately I’m grinding just like y’all so keep up the good work, stay safe and stay up playas
